|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Explore this Romantic Oceanfront Cottage located just 5 minutes from Historic Downtown St Augustine on the 'Best Section' of beach. Loads of activities within walking distance. No long catwalks. No Cars allowed. Just waves & powder white sand steps from your door. Totally renovated in 2012 with 'Top-of-the-Line' finishes . Choose from 4 Cottages ranging 1 to 5 Bedrooms for any size group. I feel sure that after one stay, you will agree with me….'It just does not get any better than this!'
Seaside Cottage 4 is our most intimate home sleeping 2 to 5. It looks like it came right out of Potter Barn (which is actually where we purchased the dishes and curtains). Crisp White Linens. Bead board walls. Soft beach colors. Cool Stone Floors. You will always be glad you found us....
First thing you notice is the Beach. There are 2 huge 8' Picture Windows in the Greatroom and the Master Bedroom. You will love the murmur of the surf and sun bathing on the Oceanfront Patio. The shade comes in early afternoon so you can enjoy the waves at 'Happy Hour' from your 'Pub' Table. Or enjoy a little badminton or soccer on our grassy lawn.
Out back is a private Trellised Patio with Grill and a large Dining Table if friends drop in. The Grill is both Gas or Charcoal so take your choice.
For your entertainment, we added a Big Screen TV with Comcast and Wireless Internet in the Greatroom. Even a Streaming Video box so you can share You Tube Videos or Netflix (if you have an account).
There is also an indoor table for diner or games. We provide several and I highly recommend Rummikub. It is our family favorite and can be played from 8 to 88. It is a game where you actually have to think. I hope it will become a tradition in your family as well and may you think your stay at Seaside Cottages each time you play.
There is a Gourmet Kitchen with all Stainless Appliances (super quiet dishwasher) and 'Leather' surface Granite. I fell in love with it. As well as the soft mat finished Marble Floors throughout the cottage. I hope you appreciate them both as much as I do. The Kitchen is fully equipped with Pottery Barn dishes and glasses and all the pot, pans and utensils you'll need to create a gourmet meal. I hope you will enjoy cooking so much and you may save enough money to stay another night!
The Master Bedroom is direct oceanfront with spectacular morning sunrises and 42' TV. There is a Shower Bath with Oval Storage Medicine cabinet and my favorite 'Farm Sink' waterfall faucet.
If you need more room, the Leather Sofa in the Greatroom folds out into a comfortable Queen with a half bath next door. Plus there is a single Daybed.
There is an outdoor shower with hot and cold water. Beach Chairs and Boogie Boards provided as well as both Bath and Beach towels. A shared Laundry. And Parking for 2 cars.
Remember, if you need more space, or less, there are 4 Cottages in all:
COTTAGE #1 has 2 kitchens with 5 Bedrooms, bunk room, 2 Sleeper Sofas & 2 Day Beds & 5 Baths (Seeps 6-19)
COTTAGE #2 is a 2 Bedroom + 1 Sleeper Sofa + 1 Day Bed & 3 Baths (Seeps 4-7)
COTTAGE #3 is a 2 Bedroom +1 Sleeper Sofa & 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-6)
COTTAGE #4 (described here ) is a 1 Bedroom +1 Sleeper Sofa +1 Day Bed & 1.5 Bath (Sleeps 2-5)
Total occupancy is 35.
Now that I have described the House let me turn to the Beach and why I call it the 'Best Beach'. You need to do your research here. There is a tremendous difference in the beaches and only 18 streets of what most people agree is the Best.
There are 4 distinct Beaches in St Augustine. Be sure and find out “where” your beach house is located before you book. I believe this is the BEST section for 5 reason:
First is the SAND. The sand is like powder, not coarse ground up shells like Vilano to the northo. This is the white powder you are looking for. Great for drip castles!
Second, at OCEAN IS RIGHT AT YOUR DOOR STEP. There is no long raised boardwalk like further south along Atlantic View with a 5 minute walk across the dunes to navigate with the cooler & chairs before you ever get to the water. Here the ocean and the VIEW is steps from your door. Be careful. There are some “beachfront” homes that are so “far from the beach” because of the sand dunes that you can hardly “see” the ocean.
Third, there are NO CARS. This is a major distinction. Everything south of A Street has Cars. Imagine trying to play paddle ball or throwing football with cars continually passing by & having to be on constant baby alert. Not while you are on vacation!
Fourth, the beach is WIDE with GREAT WAVES - Some beaches in Vilano to the north are narrow & steep, some even with rocks. The slope of the beach affects the waves. They break so close in you can't boogey board. The locals consider this the BEST SURFING around. There's a friendly Surf shop with lessons & rentals right down the street on 1st Lane if you have some adventurous ones. The rest will have plenty of fun with the boogey boards provided by Seaside Cottages free of charge.
Last, the beach is within WALKING DISTANCE of loads of activities and restaurants. Many beaches both north and south are so isolated you have a long drive to get to anything. Not here. It is so nice to be able to walk over to a restaurant for breakfast or send the kids out for Ice Cream Cones. There is a park nearby with Tennis and a YMCA for swimming or workout. Even a funky BQ restaurant with live music where you can have a drink and watch your little ones play in the POOL. But better yet is the Pier. Located within walking distance they have a new Spash Pool the kids will love plus Beach Volleyball courts, pier fishing, a Farmers Market and Free Live Music Concerts. How wonderful is that?
So…… Please call if I can answer any questions day or night or visit my website with photos of every room and check out my You Tube Video.
I hope you will enjoy your stay and come to think of this as 'your' home at the Beach.? A place to come as a couple or with friends and family to enjoy each other, the Beach and the charm of St Augustine.
Consider me at your service,
My name is Linda Bayles. I have been a Reator with Remax in the Jacksonville/St Augustine area ranking in the Top 1% of Agents since 1998.
I work primarily as a Single Agent. There are not many of us out there. Most Realtors work as neutral Transaction Agents. You can googe 'Buyers Agent' to get an overview of the difference. I think it is big. Just ask yourself the question, Would I want the other sides Attorney to represent me too? That's it in a nut shell but the amazing thing is, unlike Attorneys, it does not cost you anything to have your OWN Realtor representing just YOUR interest. We are all paid by the Seller. So .... I would love to help if you are thinking about buying or selling in the area. Just call and I will start sending photos of homes so you can get familiar with the options before you come. Once here just let me know when you are available. We can see about 4 per hour.
And in 2004, I fell in love with St Augustine Beach.
Linda Bayles purchased this house in 2011
In 2005 I walked into a 1926 beach cottage on St Augustine Beach and knew I had found my calling. I wanted to 'Create' a vacation space for Families. Large extended families. A place were Cousins, Grandmothers, Uncles and Aunts can comfortably come together to reconnect and enjoy each other away from the demands of the outside world.
I come from a large family of 5 children as does my husband, Brad. Some of my fondest memories are when we all got together to just 'hang out' for 3 or 4 days. The little ones always come up with a 'play'. The adults always congregate in the Kitchen passing down the 'Family Recipes' to the next generation and playing Games. We are a big Game playing family. Specifically Rummikub . If you have never played, you should. I make sure there is one in each house and once you are hooked and have one of your own, hope you will think of your St Augustine stay every time you play. (Call and I will give you the rules)
So I bought that 1926 Craftsman, gutted it and turned it into The Chautauqua which sleeps 22. It has been a rewarding success.
In 2011, my Father expanded the tradition and bought 4 homes on 3 Oceanfront lots. We could not believe our luck and spent the next year remodeling them into The Seaside Cottages. We just put them on the market in June 2012.
Now we can accommodate up to 35 in one location! Cottage 1 is 5 bedroom 5 bath plus 2 sleeper sofas, 1 daybead and 2 bunks. Cottage 2 is a 2 Bedroom 3 bath plus sleeper sofa. Cottage 3 (here) is a 2 bedroom 2 bath with Sleeper. And Cottage 4 is a 1 bedroom 1.5 bath with Sleeper.
The Best part is not only the houses but the BEACH. There are only 18 streets on the “Best Beach” - No cars. No Catwalk. The ocean right at your door. Everything within walking distance…. And we now have homes on 2 of the them!
I hope you will come stay with us and create memories you will cherish for a lifetime. Then I will consider it a success.

This cottage was clean, comfy beds, lots of towels, brand new just about everything. It's pretty small, but was absolutely fine for our family of 3. The best part was the location .... first house at the beach! A really short walk over the dunes and you're on St. Augustine Beach (the "no-car" part). Great for kids who aren't too crazy about a giant hike to get to the ocean.
The wifi was strong and dependable too, our teenager appreciated that!
The owner was very attentive and organized and easily reached.
Cafe 11 is really close, reasonably priced, great service and food. As we come by plane, Pit Surf Shop had all of our beach toys handy - surfboards, beach umbrellas, etc. to rent. They also offer surfing lessons, which we took on another earlier trip. Old St. Augustine was fun to visit and has lots of things to do for all ages. We also went on Ripple Effect kayak experience across from Marineland. It was probably the highlight of our trip, amazing wildlife, easy to use kayaks, amazing sunset, and we had lots of laughs with another family.
We've been coming to various parts of St. Augustine and Crescent Beaches for more than 25 years and this is by far the best location we've encountered.
We'll be back!
We rented the smaller cottage and my son rented the next cottage. We all had a great time. Very safe for kids. It is trully a close walk to beach. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. We will definitely rent there again.
The cottages were very well layed out, fully equiped. Nice patios with new bar-b-q. All you need to take is your clothe and food!
Perfect little cottage right on the beach. It was just the right size for the two of us. Comfortable and updated kitchen and bathrooms with everything you need to feel right at home. The little neighborhood is quiet and safe, and not commercial and overcrowded at all. Plenty of great local restaurants and shops within a half mile or so, and Old Town is about a 10 minute drive away where there is TONS of fun stuff. St. Augustine is a perfect place for a calm, relaxed beach vacation. And Linda's Beach Cottages are a perfect place to enjoy that vacation!
The rental is a good size for two people, maybe a small child as well. It’s right on the beach with a sand dune between it and the water. You can walk to restaurants and there’s an ice cream shop two blocks away. It’s about ten minutes by car from the historic downtown. Minimal kitchen equipment is provided. A washer and dryer are behind the garage of another unit.
Really had an amazing time. The cottage was perfect, well maintained, modern appliances. Publix supermarket was just down the street to pick up food items. Cottage is right on the beach. The beach dune at the back provided some privacy. Laundry facilities were great, with modern washer and dryer, available at no cost. My spouse and I were there for a week and definitely would stay there again if we end up vacationing in St. Augustine again.
This cool little cottage is exactly as described. It's very small but very well appointed and it literally sits on the dunes and 50 steps from the beach. The neighborhood is very nice with several restaurants, including one of the highest rated one, located 1 block away. It's also a 5 minute drive to Downtown and a 1/4 mile walk up beach to city pier. We had a great time and very likely will return.
This was our second stay in this pleasant beachfront cottage. The kitchen has everything you can possibly need to cook. It was clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed sitting on the front porch and the very short walk to the beach. For those of us "older" folks, the provided beach chairs may not be the most comfortable to get in and out of. We purchased some inexpensive higher ones from the local Target. We enjoyed several of the local restaurants.
