About Greg and Carol Jackson

Carol and Greg are native Houstonians who moved to Austin in 1996, although Greg worked as a musician and Carol attended UT in Austin in the 70's. Greg has returned to being a full time musician and Carol now practices acupuncture in our home and also in a clinic.

Please let us know if you are interested in an Acupuncture Treatment, Massage, or Herbal Consultation.

Greg and Carol Jackson purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Greg and Carol Jackson chose Austin

We had lived out in the Hill Country and decided that we wanted to live in town when Carol started her acupuncture practice. We fell in love with the Hyde Park neighborhood and neighbors, as well as our 100+ year old Victorian home. Greg is an accomplished builder and carpenter, so the wonderful old house offers many remodeling project opportunities - we're not quite finished!

What makes this apartment unique

We love living here in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood where we actually know and visit with our neighbors. This is a place where everyone gets out for walks, jogs, and bike rides and everyone takes the time to get to know one another. We know our guests will experience this first hand as they walk to one of the nearby restaurants or other closeby attractions

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Greg & Carol,

Thank you so much for letting us stay at your lovely apartment. The accomodations were wonderful and the Austin literature and guide books were incredibly helpful! The binder you made had easy to follow instructions and we made heavy use of your recommendations.

The apartment had everything we needed....Thanks again for everything!!

Fabulous Stay in Historic Hyde Park!

  • 5 of 5

This Hyde Park gem is our new "go to" place when we travel to Austin! It is immaculately clean, quiet, comfortable, and very well appointed with every amenity you can imagine! The patio is cozy and serene and a great place to relax. Greg is extremely easy to work with, helpful and he responds very quickly to inquiries. The neighborhood is lovely and there are so many great places to eat within walking distance. What a pleasure it is to stay in a place that is even better than the pictures depict! We can't wait to come back!

Mean, clean, vacation machine!!!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying here. Nice, quiet neighborhood. Not close to entertainment districts, but two bus lines are within walking distance. Bus ride to downtown was about 20-30 minutes, South Congress about 45. We took a couple of cabs (Uber wasn't back yet) from Rainey street which were about $13 an $17. A few restaurants, a grocery, coffee, tacos, a bar, etc... also within walking distance. Beautiful neighborhood! We liked walking and looking at the houses. Great bathroom, well-equipped kitchen, and comfy bed. Off-street parking and private patio with grill as well. Great for a couple. Pull-out couch was better than most... we used it for movie nights as there is no tv in the bedroom, which was fine. Really well constructed place--no squeaky floors, good floor plan, lighting, lots of ceiling fans, everything feels solid, well crafted, and designed. Loved it!

Wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

Our go-to in Austin while our son was in school at UT. We were noticing this weekend that the unit is just as beautiful and well maintained as the first time we stayed three years ago. It has everything you would want in a home away. Our time in Austin is over, but if we ever have a reason to come back, we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

Located in central austin, just north of the university of texas campus, the hyde park historic district is the oldest planned community in austin, having been established in the 1890's.

Consisting of a mix of victorian and bungalow style homes, hyde park is a quiet and peaceful oasis in the middle of everything austin has to offer.

Within a short walking distance are great restaurants, a post office, a grocery store, an awesome bakery, a cheese specialty shop, an excellent wine bar, a live theatre, and the elizabet ney museum.

Within a short drive are all of austin's main attractions, including the ut campus, zilker park, barton springs, deep eddy, mount bonnell, lake austin, lady bird lake/jogging trail, south congress, the state capital building, and downtown/6th street, to name a few.
