About Greg and Carol Jackson

Carol and Greg are native Houstonians who moved to Austin in 1996, although Greg worked as a musician and Carol attended UT in Austin in the 70's. Greg has returned to being a full time musician and Carol now practices acupuncture in our home and also in a clinic.

Please let us know if you are interested in an Acupuncture Treatment, Massage, or Herbal Consultation.

Greg and Carol Jackson purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Greg and Carol Jackson chose Austin

We had lived out in the Hill Country and decided that we wanted to live in town when Carol started her acupuncture practice. We fell in love with the Hyde Park neighborhood and neighbors, as well as our 100+ year old Victorian home. Greg is an accomplished builder and carpenter, so the wonderful old house offers many remodeling project opportunities - we're not quite finished!

What makes this apartment unique

We love living here in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood where we actually know and visit with our neighbors. This is a place where everyone gets out for walks, jogs, and bike rides and everyone takes the time to get to know one another. We know our guests will experience this first hand as they walk to one of the nearby restaurants or other closeby attractions

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Greg & Carol,

Thank you so much for letting us stay at your lovely apartment. The accomodations were wonderful and the Austin literature and guide books were incredibly helpful! The binder you made had easy to follow instructions and we made heavy use of your recommendations.

The apartment had everything we needed....Thanks again for everything!!

Loved our stay

  • 5 of 5

Such a nice place for our week long stay. The Hyde Park Hideaway was charming, comfortable and immaculate. It was well stocked with anything you might need and/or forgotten. I can't imagine anything more that could be provided.

There are many places to eat and shop nearby. It is in a beautiful neighborhood.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Clean, comfortable, excellent location, welcoming hosts

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in the Austin area, and this property only added to our experience. It was well-designed and well-cared for. We couldn't have asked for more. The location was convenient to downtown and the university. The neighborhood was peaceful. We would give this property our highest recommendation.

A charming apartment in quiet neighborhood. Great location and terrific hosts!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is just lovely--I like the layout. It includes a full kitchen, a small living room with a sleeper sofa, a bedroom with a queen size bed, and a full bathroom. Guests are treated to fabulous bath/shower products, lotion, towels, and bedding.

Several restaurants, a bakery, and a grocery store are located within walking distance. The surrounding neighborhood is lovely...there many newly remodeled, older homes here. Everyday you can see many folks out walking or biking.

We sat out and drank coffee each morning on the patio (it's situated at the bottom of the stairs). There was also a grill on the patio, but we didn't utilize it this trip. We had our own parking spot in the driveway which was nice.

Our hosts were accessible. They sent emails before the trip, texted us the morning before we arrived, checked in with us via upon our arrival, and checked in on the day of our departure. Our privacy was also well respected.

We made wonderful memories on this trip to Austin! My hope is that we can stay here again very soon. Many thanks to Greg and Carol Jackson--they are great hosts!

Perfect small apartment

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is great. Neat and tidy, so clean and tastefully decorated. Old house charm with updates in all the right places. It was perfect for me, my husband and daughter. It had everything we could possibly need for our week vacation visiting our son who lives just a few blocks away. The Hyde Park location is an older neighborhood that is really safe. Beautiful older homes and quiet streets. The owners were great and available via text to answer a couple questions we had throughout the week. We plan to visit Austin again in the coming months and would definitely stay here if the apartment is available.
