About the property

Chalet, 5 Bedrooms

Picture yourself with a book in your hand sitting in the leather arm chair next to one of the 3 fireplaces in this beautiful log Chalet. This, of course, is following a fun day of skiing, skating, tube-sledding and snowshoeing. The chalet is situated right on the slopeside of the bunny-hill, so you can ski right in and out. Or, you can watch a group of little skiers get their first ski lesson, while you sip hot coco on the balcony. Once you have gone night skiing, you can get into the hot tub and gaze at the spectacular view of the valley below. Perhaps you would prefer to sit in the steam shower for a little while instead.

The Master bedroom is on the very top floor with its own ensuite, TV, fireplace, King size bed and soaker tub.

There is also a desk/reading area overlooking the great room. (complimentary wireless internet)

The main floor has the great room, large fireplace, a dining area, and a large kitchen. On this level there are 2 bedrooms with double beds and a bathroom with a steam shower.

The first level has an entertainment room with satalite TV, DVD, bar (sink, minifridge, counter-top), a very spacious bootroom, and full laundry room. There is also two bedrooms on this level that have double sized bunk beds. This is the level that you ski right off the deck onto the slope.

Below that is a very large double garage and double car-port. (room for 4 cars, 2 in and 2 out). We have a very small garage Gym (suitable for cross fitters). If you would like to use the gym equipment (olympic bar/weights, rack, rower, battle ropes, med balls, kettle bells), please inquire.

There is a sofa bed for that special teenager who will no longer share a room with his sister ;).

Typical renters have been family's, retired mens sports club, ladies get-away weekends.

'At Big White Ski Resort we are all about the snow. On average 24 feet of Mother Nature’s finest, dry, champagne powder falls annually creating our world famous snow ghosts and blanketing our long cruzing slopes. With over 118 runs, five powder bowls and plenty of sunshine you’ll soon realize why we’ve been consistently voted one of the top ski resorts in the world.

Big White is situated on the edge of the Monashee mountains, a mere 56 km from Kelowna, the largest city in the Okanagan Valley. The village accommodates Canada’s most modern totally ski-in/ski-out resort properties and provides you with everything you'll need for a great vacation within walking distance. This year we’ve added a new six-person chairlift, the ‘Snow Ghost Express’ to our 15 other express chairs, gondola, and surface lifts, offering one of the most comfortable lift systems in North America which guarantees you short lines.

For your family, Big White has everything and it’s all at exceptionally affordable prices. Last year Big White was featured on Channel 7’s ‘The Great Outdoors’ which boasted the famous snow, slope-side restaurants, modern accommodation and our ample after skiing activities. There’s even a flaming shot gun coffee drink at Canada’s award winning restaurant and bar Snowshoe Sam’s.

Voted ‘Best Weather’ by Ski Canada Magazine, you too can feel the difference natural snow makes as you cruz the long rolling groomers, hit the powder bowls or watch your mates ride the rails and try their luck at the Olympic sized super pipe. Big White is the second most popular resort in super natural British Columbia, one of the world’s greatest snow sport provinces.

Come and see for yourself why Ski Canada Magazine bestows so many ‘Best of Skiing in Canada’ awards to Big White each and every year!

There are so many activities during the winter at Big White, you’ll want to extend your holiday just to fit them all in. Whether you want to test your prowess on the mountain, trying out our 'hero powder' on the double black diamond runs, or just relax beside a romantic stone fireplace, the choices are endless.

At Happy Valley, you can speed downhill on truck-sized inner tubes, the kids can ride their own snowmobile and Big White’s skating pond is ideal for a classic Canadian game of hockey or a leisurely ice skate.

If you are looking for something different, why not view the scenery around Big White’s beautiful village on a thrilling snowmobile ride through the picturesque snow covered trees? Or perhaps you’d prefer to discover the natural wilderness of the mountain on an unforgettable guided snowshoe tour.

Whatever you choose to do, you will have a fantastic time at our world class resort. Big White has something for everyone. Whether you want to relax, unwind or experience the thrill of the mountain, you’ll find it all at Big White.'

About Shann Ross

My family has been skiing Big White for the last 25 years and we have always loved it. In 1997 my parents bought a small condo that we used so often we decided to upgrade. In 2002, as a family, we participated in the design of this chalet and had it built to use and love. Now that my parents are not skiing and I have a young family, we don't get to the mountain as often, but still want the chalet to be enjoyed. So we decided to begin renting it out for part of the season.

Shann Ross purchased this chalet in 2002

Why Shann Ross chose British Columbia

You could simply not get closer to the hill. literally a step off the deck, and you are on one of the runs. We chose this particular area, for the large lot, views and privacy, while still being a stones throw to the run.

What makes this chalet unique

It is a short walk to the village, where you can enjoy a meal or a beverage and then walk (or sled) back down to the chalet. At the village you can hop on the gondola to take you down to happy valley, where you can skate, ice climb, sled and tube-ride, snowmobile or snowshoe tours. There are also dogsledding tours and sleigh rides that happen through out the season.

This is a beautiful chalet, perfectly situated on the mountain for ski in ski out

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place! It had everything we could have hoped for for a great family and friends' vacation. Gorgeous view over the valley, hot tub on the deck, true ski in ski out, great boot room

with lots of room for storage, lovely living room with gas fireplace on the main floor with big chalet windows, family room on the bottom floor that the teenagers loved having, master suite in the loft with huge bathroom and fireplace. With bedrooms and bathrooms on each level there was a lot of privacy too. There's a well equipped kitchen, and large laundry room. And the beds were soooo comfortable!! We would definitely love to stay here again!

Awesome

  • 5 of 5

This is a terrific property. It's at the end of the street and right off Woodcutter ski run. 2 indoor parking spots with lots of room for additional vehicles. Beautiful log house with multiple decks that face the ski hill and valley below. Tastefully decorated with comfortable beds and plenty of room. Can't think of one bad thing to say, it's the perfect ski-in / ski-out accommodation.

Perfect Place for Families, right on a ski run

  • 5 of 5

I can't wait to return to Big White and stay at this home again. Super kid friendly with lots of toys, Nintendo Wii, kids plates and cutlery. Lots of options for toboggans and sleds down driveway or by ski run. Kitchen well stocked with necessities. Large boot room to put on skis. 2 living rooms. Located right on a ski run - literal meaning of ski-in/ski-out. Full view of fireworks at happy valley parking lot. large windows to watch sunrise. best place I've stayed so far out of many annual Big White ski trips.

Nice family ski getaway

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for only 2 nights which in hindsight was not enough as it would be nice to stay longer to take advantage of the ski in and ski out. The house was as advertised - there was lots of room for the nine of us and with the bunk beds it could easily fit more. There was easy access to the ski slope as it is the last on the street and leads right out to a run. No issues with any of the appliances or bathrooms - everything worked well. It was clean and well maintained. Unfortunately it was foggy the days we were there so we can't comment on the views but I believe it would be nice. No problems booking the suite and contacting the person involved. Would have no problem recommending it to others.

An awesome ski weekend

  • 5 of 5

The perfect ski-in and ski-out location. The living room is bright and felt like home, while the kitchen was super clean and stocked with all the amenities. The cabin is set up so that the kids could hang out downstairs in the evenings, while the adults enjoyed the main floor. The hot tub was relaxing at the end of a big day of skiing, overlooking the amazing views. We loved the master suite on the top floor and thoroughly enjoyed the large soaker tub. The owner was helpful and accommodating in every way. Loved our stay at the Woodcutter cabin, we will definitely be back again.
