Our latest addition are vacation properties for Washingtonians. See the Washington Vacations section on our website for homes in the nearby mountains. Take a few days away from the bustle of the city to explore our bucolic countryside little changed over the past 2 to 3 centuries. Visit wineries and orchards, significant Civil War battlefields and historic towns, hike the Apalachian Trail or follow in the footsteps of our founding fathers by visiting their homes. There is plenty to do that beckons you to leave the city for a weekend or a week.

A bit about me...I am a former Californian who, after 12 years in DC, is now an honorary Washington native. Being well traveled both domestically and internationally has given me a great appreciation for the enrichment contact with others brings to our experience. I am well-versed on the 'must-see' sights, monuments and museums of our culturally rich city, along with the unique experiences your find only in Washington. We share that insight with our guests in our property Welcome Guides which we send upon confirmation.

We very much enjoy hosting visitors to our Nation's Capital and ensuring that they are able to make the most of their visit.

Reviewer Comments:

We loved the space and the hospitality. It was quiet, clean, very well arranged. Space is small as listed- but we did not feel at all constrained. Traveling with a young child, we were so pleased with a bit of outdoors with the convenience of a backyard, local playground and hiking trail. We ate great food locally within walking distance as well as more formally on night out in DC. Extremely responsive host who made our stay entirely stress-free and relaxing.

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

Great location! Very quiet, cute neighborhood and walking distance to a grocery store and a few restaurants. Parking in DC has always been expensive and horrible, but we used uber to quickly get where we wanted to go. Small kitchenette to store leftovers and breakfast items. Wonderfully descriptive welcome guide!! The apartment was SPOTLESSLY clean and the owner helpful if a problem occurred. We would stay again!

Reviewer Comments:

My husband and I really enjoyed this vacation home. We were away most of the day and would return to a nice, quiet neighborhood. I would have given it 5-stars but we had a small issue with the air conditioning. We reported the issue and received a prompt response. Unfortunately, it was never fixed but it wasn't too bad because we would return really late at night. So we slept with the windows open. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Map

Tucked away in Northwest DC, the Palisades is a picturesque neighborhood on the Potomac River known for its tree-lined streets and small-town character. The neighborhood was originally developed around a street-car line that ran along the Potomac River and connected Georgetown with Glen Echo, Maryland. As the residential benefits of the area grew, the neighborhood became a permanent stop for urban commuters. Homes, schools, and estates soon began to populate the landscape. Post-war residents crafted a neighborhood that had suburban appeal and retained its natural riverside beauty. The echo of this community planning can still be felt.

Today, the neighborhood allows residents and travelers alike easy access to nature and the outdoors along the historic C&O Canal and Fletcher’s Cove Boathouse (kayak, rowboat, canoe and bike rentals), the Capital Crescent Bike Trail and miles of verdant woods with a creek and hiking trails in Battery Kemble Park. The impressive MacArthur Boulevard runs directly through the Palisades and is dotted with a variety of businesses. You’ll find yoga studios, coffee houses, upscale consignment and other shops nestled next to sushi, Middle Eastern, American and Belgian restaurants. Conventional necessities such as supermarkets, pharmacies, the US Post Office and banks are all on the boulevard, too, and give the neighborhood a self-sufficient feel. The city’s Metro Buses service the Palisades with direct routes to downtown DC and the National Mall (11 Smithsonian Museums) along with the closest Metro Rail stations and upscale shopping centers. The blend of natural beauty, cozy appeal, and close proximity to downtown DC makes the Palisades neighborhood one of the city’s best-kept secrets.
