VOLCANO PARK IS OPEN !- House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)
Why Shirley G. chose Volcano
We fell in love with Hawaii 40 years ago and always wanted our own little piece of paradise. We found Hale Sweet Hale and made it our own. Always traveling in Hawaii, we discovered things and features that characterized "Living in Paradise" and included them in the house so all of our guests would leave with the Spirit of Aloha in their hearts.
What makes this Cabin unique
Staying at Hale Sweet Hale or Aloha Sweet Hale captures paradise that is unforgettable and distinctively the best in Volcano Village.

Great location, very close to Volcano National Park and the quaint town of volcano. Location is very secluded and quiet. It was everything we could ask for. Hale Sweet Hale was well stocked with anything you would want. I would highly recommend this home! Mahalo!
Very nice property. Also very clean, which is number one on my list! Quiet area, which we loved. Convenient to restaurants & volcano. Hot tub was a plus since we didn’t realize how cool it gets up there at night. Loved seeing the pheasants in the morning run from the front yard to the back. Just wish we had more time to spend there.
Glad to hear your stay at Hale Sweet Hale was enjoyable. Yes, next time you'll have to stay longer to take in all that Volcano has to offer.
July 24, 2019
My wife and I recently celebrated our 23rd anniversary at this beautiful cabin. It disturbs us to have to write this review.
We are Big Island locals residing in Kohala and have enjoyed spending many special occasions at rentals in Volcano for the past 15 years. We were enjoying the privacy and amenities of Shirley Gutierrez’ cabin when we realized that a video camera was pointed at the hot tub and actively monitoring us. We found this breach of our privacy to be extremely disrespectful and unacceptable, particularly since we enjoy soaking in hot tubs “au naturel.” There was nothing in the house rules or guidelines regarding video surveillance. The proprietors were obviously aware it was our anniversary as we found a bottle of wine and a congratulatory note upon our arrival.
When we realized the morning after our first night’s stay that all of our activities on the outside lanai the night before had been recorded, we were devastated. We draped a towel over the camera but the damage had been done. This was not “pono” nor was it the “aloha” we had come to expect from our many lovely rental experiences in Volcano. To say that this put a damper on the rest of our stay is an understatement. We are still experiencing emotional distress over this blatant invasion of our privacy.
We are asking for and expect a full refund of our two night stay and hopefully an end to this abhorrent practice. The cabin guest book contains a note from another couple complaining about the same intrusive practice over a year ago. They were celebrating their 30th anniversary! Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.

Since you live in Hawaii, you are well aware that paradise is not crime-free. Because our home is located in an isolated area, the cameras are outside in common areas to view the front of the house and the 2 rear entrances of the house. The cameras are not monitored when guests are booked at the house. They are there only for security purposes. That is one of the reasons why we are able to maintain a high quality vacation rental that was featured on HGTV.
modern home in the village
this home is lovely with comfortable beds a great fireplace. lots of high quality towels. the kitchen was shy of many accoutrements..just four heavy sets of dishes. would have liked more mugs and bowls etc.
great fresh flowers, plenty of hot water. the problem and reason for not 5 stars is the hot tub. the digital readout is illegible and i couldnt get more than tepid water. im sure when this is repaired it will be fine but i wasnt really able to enjoy it
There are no words!!!
This place was incredible. Private and yet convenient to restaurants and sightseeing. Lovely house and surroundings. We'll be back.
Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at Hale Sweet Hale. Our guests always enjoy the privacy and the convenience. Come back anytime!
