This inviting and relaxing home is located in historic german village, steps away from gorgeous schiller park; a quiet, friendly neighborhood that is listed on the national register of historic places and was recognized as a preserve america community. Beautiful Location

  • 4 of 5

This home is located in a lovely neighborhood, close to the park and many little restaurants. The kitchen had every thing we need and the owner was very accommodating, even allowing early check in when we arrived. The beds are very comfortable and the area was quiet. Check out was easy as well as there was not a to do list. If you are looking for a pub for either brunch or dinner, I recommend Valters at the Maennerchor , it's a couple blocks away and they were very accommodating for a large group. The South Village Grille, also very close has a great happy hour.

Not satisfactory for 4 couples

  • 2 of 5

I rented this for the location to be near relatives for Christmas week. The cold weather was unusual, I guess, but still the front door needs to be fixed so that it stays closed without having to use the deadbolt all the time. If we had stayed longer, I would have asked for additional keys as the lockbox was at the top of the front door, not easy to see or operate when windchill is below zero. The kitchen is equipped, but needs updating, including new linoleum. The third floor bedroom that is pictured is more of a work in progress with unfinished areas; you have to duck in the staircase if you're over 5 feet tall. There is one functioning shower, which was a nuisance for four couples. Left us wishing we had just gotten four rooms at a nearby hotel for less money.

Last minute trip

Roger could not have been more accommodating. We came to town for a funeral and he let us check in early and made himself available for any questions. German Village is a great place to stay. I would rent this place again.

OSU football and Thanksgiving

  • 4 of 5

We came in for football game and to visit my son with part of our family. The home was perfect for our group of 7, and the large dining table allowed us to sit down for an early Thanksgiving celebration. The rooms were good, but the bathrooms need updating as well as the kitchen - this being said it was a still good set up for our family.

Overall, we had a very good stay. House ws well equiped and stocked.

The only complaint we had was when we went to use the laundry facilities. There were linens left in both washer and dryer. We had to finish it before we could do our own. I do not go vacation to do someone elses laundry.

About Roger Vivas

I am a Venezuelan adopted by Columbus, which I proudly call my second hometown.

I have traveled the world extensively and my best experiences always came from small places owned and managed by people who really cared; not only about their business and their guests but also their community. With Vivas Guesthouse, I have the opportunity to make a difference to those who visit this great city and to the German Village neighborhood.

I am apart of this community; an ambassador who is eager to share my knowledge with others so they can understand why Columbus is so great! I can suggest what to see, where to eat or even cook for you myself. I am here to ensure your stay is wonderful.

I have dedicated my career to hospitality; worked for years in hotels and restaurants and wanted to get away from the cookie cutter. A destination like Vivas Guesthouse will save you from having to feel like a stranger occupying one of the hundreds of identical rooms. Vivas Guesthouse is a boutique destination that feels like home. You can use one of the many bikes to explore the neighborhood, stay in the master suite that I built with my own hands, and even cook a meal in the fully equipped kitchen. Or even better, have me cook that meal for you. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Warmest Regards,

Roger Vivas
