Guestbook comments from the owner

My Little Blue House is a joy - nestled in the woods. A pair of Phoebes had built a nest on the porch and we watched them feed their babies, heard pileated woodpeckers and cicadas in the distance, and were delighted by the sound of the small stream running through the property. The kitchen is well-appointed, and the entire house is perfect for a wonderful rest.

Secluded Getaway

  • 5 of 5

You have to walk across a small bridge to access the house, so unloading the car may take a few trips, but that only added to the secluded feel of the place. The creek is great to relax next to, and you have access to lots of hiking spots nearby. We loved staying here and will most definitely be coming back.

Lovely and relaxing - with a few suggestions

  • 4 of 5

Overall we loved it, especially hanging out on the porch. We were able to bring our dogs which was the biggest reason we chose to come here in the first place and that is a huge plus for us. It was so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta and our hectic lives. It's very secluded and private. I agree with all other reviewers that the babbling brook is the what makes this place truly special and will lull you to sleep if you are out on the porch. Also, Karin was very nice and flexible with us. The only reason for 4 stars is that the mattresses could use replacing. It was just the two of us as we did not bring our kids so I cannot speak to the loft beds. We tried sleeping in one bed the first night and it killed our backs. Then we switched to the other and it was just as bad. For reference we are avarage size and don't have any health issues. As a result, we didn't get the kind of sleep we would have liked for a getaway and were glad we had only booked two nights. The couches inside are also also uncomfortable. I realize because the owner allows dogs, she doesn't want to put extremely nice things in the home and I can completely understand this as I would be the same. That said, overall the home was very clean and nice. However, at least changing the mattresses would be suggested. We would love to come back, but knowing this about the beds we will likely not return, which is shame because we really did love everything else about it.

Great get away-- total privacy!

  • 4 of 5

We always love coming to this home. Kids locked the door accidentally within two hours of arrival and a call to Karin quickly brought another key. It is so cool, calm and quiet there with the sounds of nature and the creeks just below the house. I know we will continue to come back since we have found no other place quite like it,

2nd visit

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to the Little Blue House and we had a great time. New on this trip, saw paragliders on Bells Mountain, swam in Blue Hole falls and saw a bear when leaving Shoals Falls. House was perfect. Can wait for our next visit.

Very quiet place to stay. Loved the creeks out the front door.

  • 5 of 5

Very clean. The kids loved playing in the creek. We loved sitting on the front porch. Close enough to town but far enough that all you hear is the creek.
