Chris purchased this house in 2013

Why Chris chose Montana

Location, views, skiing, golfing, pristine mountains and rivers. Exceptional Really!

About Our Home and Big Sky Ski and Golf Resort:

You may want to rent a vehicle in Bozeman at the airport where you land. (There are also car services and taxis that will take you to Big Sky but ideally a vehicle is the most convenient and will allow you the freedom to explore the area.)

The pool you see pictured is located is in The Moonlight Lodge which is in the center of our development right on the top of the mountain at the bottom of the ski runs. (In the winter there is also a skating rink set up at the lodge.)The Moonlight Lodge hosts a very nice restaurant also which is well worth the treat after a long day of skiing.

Our home is set about four blocks from this lodge and there is a chairlift approximately 200 feet from our front door (Pony Express). We really are in the perfectly location set at the top of the mountain on an idea ski-in ski -out property and the views from our home are exceptional.

The little town Big Sky is very quaint and is located at the bottom of the mountain. Here you will find a tiny main street with a couple of groceries stores, a theater and a 10 to 14 shops.

There is also the much larger town of Bozeman nearby where you can go antiquing, find a mall or stock up at Costco's (which we recommend you do on your way out from the airport) but everything you really need you will be able to find right in Big Sky so there really is no reason to venture out to far unless you want to visit the wonders of Yellowstone Park (30 minutes away) or head down the canyon just to take in the scenery or perhaps dine at a lovely restaurant along the river.

We would be more than happy to provide you with all of the highlights for the area and the places not to be missed during your stay as we truly enjoy our location and relish the opportunity of sharing it and all of its wonderful discoveries’ with others. Come On Out To Stay!

What makes this house unique

Come experience it all for your self.

Our home and Big Sky are exactly what you picture when you envision Montana and it is our hope that your expectations will be exceeded!

Big Ski is an ideal Ski Resort for families. It is incredibly scenic and stunning beautiful. We have traveled to over 30 ski resorts worldwide however our experience in Big Sky still exceeds them all. It is simply the most pristine, provides the best skiing anywhere and represents the 'True Montana Experience' (wildlife and all).

We hope some of this may assist you a little in making the best decision you possible for you and your family.

We also have homes in Maui Hawaii and a beautiful lake home in BC Canada as well just in case your travels take you to these areas in the future :)

Million Dollar View

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here while on a family road trip. We were a group of 5 adults and we all agree ----- the pictures don't do the house justice. It is much more spectacular and dramatic in person. This home has an elegant and impressive interior. My sister in law called it "the cabin/castle hybrid" and that really sums it up perfectly. There was no fighting over bedrooms. Each has it's own theme and could truly be called a master bedroom. The hot tub was clean and seems new. It was situated nicely and allowed for protection from the elements, yet it still had a great view. The house was surprisingly warm and cozy despite the high ceilings. You'll also find the home to be very quiet -- good for keeping the piece between night owls and early birds. All the beds were comfortable and the Jacuzzi bath tubs were wonderful. It's true there's only 1 television but there are plenty of other things to occupy your time. We saw several mule deer, a quartet of chipmunks and we had a couple of visits from inquisitive little foxes. There are a variety of hiking trails just steps from the house and many more within close proximity. There is no garage but ample room to park cars in the driveway and on a spot on the road. Thanks Chris for allowing us to spend time in your lovely home!!

Great location!

  • 3 of 5

We rented this beautiful property in August and it served as a wonderful base camp for a host of summer activities in gorgeous Montana. While the house and its setting were breath-taking, we were mildly disappointed in the lack of water pressure for showers, and the lighting in the luxuriously styled bathrooms was anything but adequate.

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

We just spent a week at this home. We have been renting houses at Moonlight Basin area for the past 5 winters and this is our first summer trip. The house is in desperate need of a professional manager to take care of this property. When we arrived, there were many questions and no instructions. I called the caretaker listed and left a message; he never returned my call. I eventually texted the owner about soap, tissues, shampoo, etc. and she replied it is not supplied! Tissues? In addition, the house is not professionally cleaned and maintained; dusty, things out of place, etc. We actually met the person cleaning the house as we left...he is not a professional house cleaner.

A few other things: the air conditioning doesn't work in the house. In addition, I was very surprised to find one television for a house this size; not one tv in any bedroom. Like I also said, there are no instructions for the house and the lighting, switches, etc. are very confusing. There is also no table(s) outside on their enormous ( and beautiful) deck. Sitting outside with a drink, or eating breakfast outside is not an option. The front of the house has a tarp in front of it covering something which is unsightly, and in front of the doorway entrance, there was an oxygen tank( that's right) for some reason that stayed there all week and never taken away. There also aren't night tables on both sides of the beds in the bedrooms ...I had nothing on my side of the bed (in the main floor master bedroom) to put my book, cellphone, etc., very annoying.

It's aa shame about this house, because all it needs is some attention and a professional to take care of it.

Gorgeous views! Grand house!

  • 5 of 5

This home was absolutely stunning! Photos and video represent it very well. All of the rooms were very large. Kitchen was well equipped with a double oven, gas range, 2 dish washers and a large fridge. And every view was amazing! There were more doors than I can count all of the way around the house that lead out on to the huge deck. Every morning when I would wake up it seemed like there was a photo hanging in front of me with the view of a mountain right there. I just couldn’t believe it was real! The Jacuzzi was very nice and everyone spent time in there. A table next to it would have been nice just to set your towels and things on though. Everyone had a blast skiing and with the lift so close to the house it was really convenient. I would definitely stay there again. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Amazing home and location, loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this home, it is as beautiful as the photos and videos show. The first half of the week we had summer weather, the last few day we got a lot of snow, many inches. Would have been nice to have someone plow the drive way it was very hard getting out of it even with 4 wheel drive trucks. The kitchen was nice for preparing food, and clean up was awesome, 2 dishwashers! Lots of seating space in the great room.

The house has MANY light switches so it was difficult to figure out how to turn all the lights on and off. Also needs hooks in the foyer for coats, there is nowhere to hang them. Minor issues!

The views and location are spectacular and make up for any small inconveniences.

Would come back for sure!

Thanks for sharing your home,

This is NOT a ski-in/ski-out property

  • 2 of 5

My family and I stayed in this home for 2 weeks for a ski trip. The views are spectacular, as are all the houses in that area.

This house is priced and advertised in this listing as a “true ski-in ski-out,” but it’s not. This is why I am rating this home with 2 stars. This is a nice house, but we would not have chosen it if we had realized that it was not a ski-in/ski-out on the side of a ski slope.

I spoke with Chris, the owner, at length before I booked our stay. My absolute most important requirement for finding a house to lease was that it must be a true “ski-in/ski-out” property. I described in detail how I need to be able to ski my children in and out easily to grab them for a run when skiing by on the slope. Chris was friendly and assured me I could. This house is described on this listing as a “True ski-in ski-out” property and she had emailed to me that you can ski “back to the front door” of the home. This house is NOT a ski-in/ski-out property and is not on the side of a ski slope as we were lead to believe. It is down the street from a chair lift… An asphalt street that cars drive down, not a street with snow for skiers. We had excellent snowfall almost every day, yet were not able to get to the lift without a lengthy walk carrying our skis & children, or driving to the lift down the street. Even on snowy days, you would never have your children try to ski down this street (which is snow plowed daily and covered with loose gravel to ensure it does not get snowy). Nor would you want to ski down it with your waxed skis. To “ski in” to the house, you can ski through the woods on little paths…It was possible since all of us besides the children are seasoned skiers. However, any route through the woods can only deliver you a bit downhill from this house, where you take off your skis and walk up a hill to the house. The ability to not ski-in/ski-out would have been acceptable if we had not chosen this house based on ski-in/ski-out access and if we had not paid a premium for a ski-in/ski-out house.

This house is not set up to accommodate skiers. There is not a mud room to keep ski gear, so the entryway next to the only living room must stay full of multiple skiers’ things all over the floor.

Do not rent this house if you're planning a ski trip. This house is not as represented.

Other problems to note:

- low/no shower water pressure

- fireplaces do not function

Owner's Response: Dear Katie and Family, So sorry that your little ones did not find it easy to ski to and from our home. Our home is ideally located right at the top of the mountain and set on the ski hill. It is true that the lift is about the length of one football field from our property so I can see how it would be difficult for younger ones to slide down to the lift on their own. The Twin Tunnels Trails does take you right back to our front door and we are one of only a couple luxury home rentals in Big Sky that are actually located right on the mountain. Over the years many of our guests have enjoyed our ideal location and the close proximity to a main ski lift and this is the first time we have had anyone not be comfortable with the ski access from our home. (Our property is a good size and my husband likes to joke about the fact that if we were any closer to the lift the line would be in our yard :) In regards to the water pressure within our home just a quick note that may help out at little: All of the homes in Big Sky are on clear water well systems so if everyone is trying to take a shower at the same time the pressure does tend to drop. We will look into this in the future to see if there is anything we can do to improve it. There is a ski locker on the exterior of our home (on the right side of the front door) where you can safely hang and lock all ski equipment. Thank you for your suggestions though we will be sure to place additional ski racks and hooks inside our large rock entry so that guests will have a variety of places to hang their skis and clothing. It is of the utmost importance to us that all of our guests (who we truly consider new friends) have a wonderful experience in Big Sky and feel more than comfortable in our home, so thank you for sharing you thoughts here. We wish you and those you love all the best in your future travels. Kindest Regards, Home Owners
