We had a wonderful time here. Great location and property for large family
Good for hosting group of colleagues in town for annual conference
Had a great stay! Very clean, good beds, lots of bedrooms and space, reliable wifi. Back patio space was very nice, as was having chairs and tables available. Had good times sitting out back enjoying our time together. Just a word of caution -- the driveway is hard to find.
Great stay in Bethesda
Overall we had a great stay. There were eight adults and three kids and it was not at all crowded. The location was great with easy access into D.C. The Bethesda area itself had plenty of things to do and see. There were some plumbing issues and cosmetic problems with the house. If these were fixed it would be a top notch unit. Despite the issues we would probably stay here again. When we contacted Robert He was readily available and responsive.
not what I expected-very disappointing, but we made the best of the situation
The good news-there are plenty of bedrooms, beds are comfy. Kitchen well stocked, the owner is nice and communicative. The bad news: the place is sorely neglected, needs major updating, yard was extremely overgrown, large piles of dirt all around that have been there for years, no screens on areas of screened porch, no screen on front door, wallpaper peeling, paint in downstairs shower peeling, fabric on chairs stained, rugs stained , decor very dated, window treatments broken or missing. although we had communicated extensively with owner, and he was amenable to our having a family graduation for our son at the house-even said there are tables and chairs in the garage-we were horrified when we drove up and almost didn't stay. the yard was severely overgrown, there was stagnant water in the pond and birdbath, the outside of the house looked abandoned and was in disrepair.. after speaking with Robert on Friday after noon, he dropped off a crew of "landscapers" the next morning. we were having guests at 2 and caterer showing at one. The landscapers came with clippers! my husband had to find a lawnmower to cut the grass, show them trees and bushes to trim so people could come in the driveway and use the yard. My 87 y/o mom and I had to clean the porch, block an area where people could have fallen off, toss out dirty area rugs and cover as much as we could with table cloths-which luckily we brought with us. the inside of the house had been "cleaned" by a cleaning service, but the neglect on everything was evident. Despite all of this, we were able to make do and our graduation party was a success. Robert did offer to refund some money which helped,.Our family has rented other homes and condos in the past, and had never been disappointed. Caveat Emptor.
Perfect for Our Group
This house provided plenty of bedrooms for our group of 16 students and chaperones, and a beautiful, large kitchen so we could fix most of our own meals, but the biggest benefit was having more than one gathering space where we could play games and have daily planning sessions. We wouldn't have had that if we had been spread out at a motel.
Charming, very spacious, in need of touch ups
There was a cleaning hiccup upon arrival but a call to Robert and someone was sent over to resolve. The linens and towels were all very fresh smelling and there were plenty of extra linens and towels for use. We had 12 people (including 2 young ones 3 and under) spread across 3 families and had plenty of room with a couple beds left over! The master bedroom worked great for small kids as there is an attached room within that fits a pack and play and plenty of floor space to throw down an extra mattress beside the king bed. There was even a pack and play, rocking chair and change table for use. Even with the amount of people we still all had plenty of hot water and the air conditioning kept all levels nice and cool. The kitchen is quite spacious allowing several people to work at once. The screeens off porch area was a favorite hang out for meals and evening cards (although the screening is in a bit of rough shape so care had to be taken to make sure the smallers didn’t fall through). There were several large screen TVs throughout the house however we didn’t end up using them much. Wifi all throughout house with good connection. The driveway approach is a bit awkward, depending what direction you are coming from and can be quite hard to find in the dark if you don’t know where to look. As mentioned there are quite a few aesthetic repairs that could be done (fresh paint/wall paper, outside power wash, outside paint) but nothing that affected quality of stay. House is in a good, quiet area with lots of outside space. All monuments/ball park/airport seemed to be within a 30-45 range depending on traffic and is quite easy to get to main routes from house. There is a bus stop right up the street but we opted to take the short drive to the Bethesda metro the one day we did metro. A Giant grocery store and beer store also just up the road. Robert also invited us to the neighbourhood pool but we unfortunately already had plans. If you’re looking for somewhere to house a large number of people, would definitely recommend. Just be prepared for out datedness and maintenance required.
