About Laurel

Tryon Farm is an extension of me and it's peaceful surroundings let me unwind and relax like I've never done before. I always say my house has a soul. I love hiking the dunes, hanging out at the beach, walking the trails at the farm, working my little garden, biking on my old cruiser, visiting the winery on the corner, relaxing on the patio, walking the labrynth... Just to name a few!

Laurel purchased this house in 2008

Why Laurel chose Tryon Farm

Harbor County is an ideal location for vacationing due it's quaint towns, beaches and country roads. Tryon Farm offers everything I would want within a community. These 2 things combined, plus the proximity to Chicago, made this an ideal spot for me!

What makes this house unique

I've heard over and over that my home is modern, yet liveable. Any coolness the house has is overcome by warmth from another element. It has a whimsical fun element to it. It's full of interesting art yet every window is a frame to the outdoors, creating even more interesting pieces of art.

Scenic modern luxury

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay in this gorgeous retreat at Tryon Farm. It is clearly a lovely reflection of its owner, Laurel's, kind soul. We were welcome to make ourselves at home and enjoy; the house is full of everything you might need — and just beautifully done! Laurel was attentive and helpful in providing us with suggestions/recommendations during our stay. We visited the nearby beaches to watch the sunset, survived the 3 dune challenge, took the train to Chicago for a day, hiked the farm grounds, spent quiet nights cooking dinner in the well-equipped kitchen to music, and played many friendly games of (learning) chess. Thank you, Laurel, for sharing your home with us! We hope to return!

STUNNING--We didn't want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

Laurel's place is a stunning sanctuary in the woods. The attention to detail is impeccable, and her home is filled with beautiful, captivating art, cozy nooks to relax in, and plenty of space to cook a big meal or enjoy some yoga.

There's no TV, which we LOVED! Instead we caught up on our reading, had deep chats over wine, and sat in front of the fire relaxing. But if you're looking to catch up on Game of Thrones, this isn't the place.

Other perks: The massive master shower/bathroom. Super soft/luxe sheets. A fully stocked kitchen for cooking. Extra blankets for chilly nights. A wonderful library.

We will definitely stay here again! She made everything so easy and enjoyable for us, and her home is a 10 out of 10.

The property and grounds itself are also lovely. We deeply enjoyed walking the trails and exploring the different landscapes.

Awesome experience nestled in the forest!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place! My Mom and I loved being in this beautifully designed and decorated home. Artwork was half the fun! I appreciated the thoughtful design and simplicity in everything. We loved spending the evening listening to old records, sipping wine and talking through the night! It is truly a home that calls you to reconnect...whether it's with family, friends or yourself. Highly recommend this lovely sanctuary.
