Situated on 65 acres with views of our own private, 5 acre pond, both summer and winter are divine at Bally Loch. Lots of snow in winter for skiing at Peekn Peak or The Wilderness Lodge just a few miles down the road. Our own property is also great for snowshoeing and xc skiing. Summer is equally blessed. Our large pond is fully stocked with bluegill and large mouth bass. Weedless and spring fed makes for delicious swimming. Rural setting means the stars and moon are bright. Only minutes from Findley Lake and Peek 'N Peak Resort make this the ideal getaway for a restful family vacation OR for a creative retreat.
All the comforts of home--recently renovated and fully stocked kitchen as well as bathroom, central heating--is offset by cozy decor and fires for evening in fireplace or woodstove. Everything provided including staples in the kitchen and top quality linens for beds and towels for bathroom.
Upstairs, two bedrooms offer one full size in master, and one queen and twin in second bedroom.
Modern appliances, nice pots and pans, and china, silverware, and cutting knives. Picnic tables and firepit outside as well as gardens and trails.
We are the Kinal family for whom Bally Loch is family-central. Most of us live near Bally Loch, so if you have questions or need some directions or guidance, we are near enough to respond quickly.
We all grew up in Erie and Bally Loch was our vacation home at that time.
Now it is the heart-and-soul of our memories over four generations and the center for our family get togethers.
Murl Kinal purchased this chateau / country house in 1959
We are Chautauqua County natives and will be thrilled to share those secret places with you that only those raised in an area know, like the closest brewpub, Wegmans Supermarket for food shopping, Panama Rocks, antique shops, French Creek, Lake Erie Wineries beaches.
The rural experience moves further and further away from those of us who live in cities for proximity to work and schools. A slice of heaven, Bally Loch is set like a jewel in the heart of Chautauqua County, which enjoys an abundance of powder snow in the winter and temperate zone lakes, farms and meadows in the summer.
Have you experienced the western New York village? with its white houses along main street, central square surrounded by shops savvy enough to know their market, cafes alongside diners, beaches along Lake Erie and the smaller lakes up on the escarpment, fruit orchards and vines along the Lake Erie plain?
We have plenty of water here! Temperatures in the summer range in the 60's at night and 70's in the day while winters can almost always be counted on for plenty of powder snow.
Spring brings wild leeks and maple syrup. Our hardwood forest offer a colorful and lingering autumn. Always a fresh breeze off Lake Erie!
The house was quaint. Smelled musty. Kitchen and bathroom were newly renovated. Mice droppings on the counters, tables, beds. The owner was pleasant , but difficult to reach by email. The fireplace was great, with wood supplied inside.
Quaint cottage on a pond with all the amenities. Many memories and laughs were shared around the huge (and it was huge) fire pit which overlooked the pond. Firewood was provided even though we brought our own - nice touch. One evening a frog decided to join us as he kept warm by the fire. The following morning a flock of turkeys, along with their babies, joined us for breakfast.
It was our "Annual Sister's Weekend", and I must say, with four grown women we never ran out of hot water. Thank you!
We look forward to returning next year!
Joel and I had an absolutely perfect weekend at the cottage. It was so quaint! If you love to fish, especially if you have children, the pond is an ideal way to spend the afternoon, relaxing and fishing. We caught (and released) so many fish, (bluegill, sunny, crappy, bass), including two giant (over 20 inch.) large mouth bass that Joel caught. We will definitely be back again.
This cottage was perfect for a girls getaway. Two friends and I booked this place for a long weekend in July and it was more than we had hoped for! The loft is nice and cozy and there's lots of space to relax and explore outside. We were blessed with beautiful weather and enjoyed taking the boat out on the pond, laying in the hammock, and roaming the paths in the back. If you're looking for something secluded and laidback, you've come to the right place!
Me and my friends had a great time at the cottage. You have more acres than you know what to do with and your own private pond with a boat... So relaxing. Would definitely recommend.
I've stayed many times at Bally Lough. Swimming in Constance Pond in the summer, snowshoeing or cross country skiing in the winter, walking the trails through sixty acres of hardwood forest, going to the Peak for a hot tub...all these things make Bally Lough the ideal place in western NY for a family vacation or for a writer's getaway. The fireplace and woodstove may not be necessary, as Bally Lough has central heating, but I always find it so comforting to load the wood cupboard with split wood from the shed and settle in for a day's writing or reading.
The Lake Erie Wine Trail offers music and events at 25 Wineries.
Our proximity to Chautauqua Institution, Presque Isle on Lake Erie, Peek N Peak right up the road with pools and hot tubs, ski lifts, golf and bar/restaurant, between I-90 and I-86 make this an excellent location and yet away from it all.
