Imagine yourself back in those three famous days in 1863 when you take in the festivities of our 150th anniversary of the civil war at Gettysburg! You will have fun exploring the area; the adventurous will enjoy touring the 40 miles of battlefield roads (by bicycle, horseback or vehicle), tour a civil war house, talk to the soldiers in encampments and reenactments, or take a haunted ghost tour by night.
At the end of the day you can relax and enjoy your stay at our newly renovated 1st floor accommodation located on historic baltimore street in downtown Gettysburg. There are 2 bedrooms (queen beds), a day bed in the second bedroom and can sleep 5. There is 1 bathroom which consists of a tub/shower combo, a fully fitted eat in kitchen, and a TV/sitting room with cable TV. We provide you with towels, linens, pots and pans, utensils, coffee maker, toaster, iron and board, hair dryer, everything that will make you feel right at home!
You will love the location. We are with-in walking distance to restaurants, museums, the national cemetery where Lincoln gave his address, art galleries, shops, and everything else Gettysburg has to offer. Leave the driving to someone else and hop on the local trolley to see other out of town sites including the new national park service visitor center & museum, and cyclorama. You can take a day trip to surrounding Hershey park (50 miles), Washington dc (60 miles), and lacaster pa dutch country (45 miles).
The apartment is within walking distance to everything downtown.
We enjoyed our stay . The apartment was very clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. Great beds. A little noise from traffic. Overall experience was very good. Would stay again. Owner very nice and helpful.
We loved the place, it was clean and well equipped. Not having to bring linens was so helpful. The beds were comfy. There is quite a bit of street noise but it did not bother us. It may be a problem with young children. My husband was thrilled to have a garage. We would definitely stay there again and recommend this home to others. It was like being at home very comfortable. It was close to everything just a couple of blocks in either direction and you were in the heart of the town square or at the cemetary and shops.
The location of this home makes getting around Gettysburg really easy. The accommodations met our needs. The beds could have been more comfortable but adequate. You are on a busy street so there is some traffic noise but mostly during the day so not really a problem. We walked to restaurants and shops. And it was nice having off street parking available. A quick drive to the sights in town. We also drove to Lancaster one day to tour the Amish country, a very doable day out.
We had a great time at this apartment! Well supplied and the owners were incredibly easy to contact. We had a problem with wifi on the first night and Rod came right out to fix the issue!
You are on a busy road here (being in the heart of a lot of great landmarks in town) so the only real negative is that the bedrooms face the road and the traffic can be loud. Of course, we got an early start everyday so we were already gone by the time traffic really picked up.
As stated this house sits in the heart of town a few blocks from the main roundabout and is near a bunch of gift shops, restaurants, and some famous landmarks. Ample room for parking which is great as you can walk a lot of places in town. The battlefield is a short drive away (very short; if you're ambitious you could even walk it). Lots of people in period clothing walking about the streets, and if you like ghost tours there were a ton nearby.
Beds were comfy. The daybed was larger than expected. The place was very clean and we had all the linen, towels, and kitchen tools needed for a stay. There was a grocery store not far away.
Overall this is an excellent apartment and I would gladly stay again! My father and I had a blast. It was really special to stay in a home that was around for the big battle, and it maintains much of its historic charm. You will not regret staying here!
Fantastic location and Fantastic property! Walked everywhere around Gettysburg, shopping and restaurants all walkable, and only drove out to the park. Staying in the middle of the historic town really kept us focused on the events that happened there! A great stay! I would stay here again and will recommend it to friends and family! Rod was great about being available when we arrived and gave us lots of interesting info too! Thank you Jen and Rod for the great accommodations!
