Overview

Photos and Description of this Historic Eastside holiday house

House, Studio + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

This house is the real thing! The home is over one hundred years old. The original owners of this house dug the dirt and baked the adobe bricks themselves to build their house. This authentic 500 square foot home has not been overly remodeled maintaining the feel of Santa Fe's old world charm. The location could not be better on the historic east side. Our guests have been coming back and requesting this little charmer for 15 years now!

Quiet and secluded, the house is only 1 1/2 blocks to Canyon Road by the art gallery district and where some of my favorite restaurants are, and less than a mile, approximately a 12-15 minute walk to the famed Plaza. You will stay 1/2 block to one of Santa Fe's local’s favorite bookstore and coffee shop. This casita is the first of the growing inventory of "Two Casitas," furnished and painted in Mexican style, this spacious studio features a king size bed, flat screen cable TV and comfortable sleeper sofa in the same room, brick floors with a gorgeous Russian sumac rug. The house is graced with original paintings by well-known local artists such as famed Phyllis Kapp of Waxlander gallery (owner of Two Casitas, Wendy Kapp's mother.) This casita offers a full and separate kitchen and dining area. Casa Paloma has a private bath with a shower only. Warm yourself by the gas-burning fireplace or in the hot tub. Soak up the sun on the front portal, or porch. Double French doors open up into your large back yard as well. Watch the sun set and gaze at all the stars from mhere. Flag stone patio table and chairs with barbeque, a shared yet completely private and enclosed hot tub with the three-bedroom house next door. Maraposa. Paloma casita is a very private and separate guesthouse from the main house. If you have a larger party, you can also rent the Maraposa all at the same address in this compound.

Additional fees on this property are 15.456% tax. and a one time cleaning fee of $75.

About Two Casitas, Santa Fe Vacation Rentals, Wendy Kapp

A note from Wendy Kapp- Owner of Two Casitas Santa Fe Vacation Rentals

Having been raised in Chicago, my soul longed for the massive blue skies and mountains I first saw when my mother, well-known watercolor artist Phyllis Kapp of Waxlander Gallery, introduced me to this magnificent area when I was 6 years old.

While returning west in 1975, I came through Santa Fe and fell in love with Northern New Mexico once again. I found the people here, especially back in '75, to be the most authentic people I had ever met and I decided to make Santa Fe my home. My extensive knowledge from living here for since 1975 makes me the perfect, local hostess to give you tips on making your stay memorable. I hope you come to love Santa Fe and, in-turn Two Casitas, as much as I do.

Two Casitas, Santa Fe Vacation Rentals, Wendy Kapp purchased this house in 1998

Why Two Casitas, Santa Fe Vacation Rentals, Wendy Kapp chose Santa Fe

Wonderful Santa Fe getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I couldn't have been happier with our stay at Paloma in Santa Fe. Near to everything we wanted to do, mostly within walking distance, our casita was tucked away in a picturesque and quiet neighborhood. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and some southwest snacks which we enjoyed in the private back yard on a beautiful October evening. And we enjoyed the hot tub a little later when the evening cooled way down. Aside from the comfortable and "Santa Fe style" accommodations we were really impressed by service we received from Wendy and her terrific staff. They really wanted to be sure that we had everything we needed. Old-fashioned customer service and it was an unexpected addition to our mini-vacation. Hopefully, we will be back at the same time next year. We both highly recommend this wonderful place!

Owner's Response: What a wonderful review! Thank you thank you. October is a perfect time to visit Santa Fe. Just cool enough to enjoy the hot tub and warm enough to enjoy the foliage and walk around during the day under our sunny blue skies. I am so glad you and your girlfriend had a great time in Santa Fe and enjoyed the lovely vacation rental Paloma. I was thrilled that I got the chance to meet you and her. Her name is Wendy as well. Not to many Wendys around which made the meeting that much more fun. Hey never to early to book in Santa Fe so if you want to come back next year just give me a call for a repeat guest special. :-) With warm regards, Wendy and the Two Casitas team

Lovely casita! Goat heads galore!

  • 3 of 5

What a nice little casita!

Charming as hell and great location. The unit suited our needs just fine and was as advertised.

The bummer is those sharp and nasty little goat heads that impale your feet! The dog picked one up within the first five minutes of arrival as did both humans the first night near the hot tub.

We learned to wear our flip flops and just kept picking the nasty things out all weekend- the dog however- not so lucky. Loved the charming little casita, but will not return to a "dog friendly" danger ground- especially after the pet fee- which is understandable, but the grounds need some serious upkeep if you wish to advertise as dog friendly.

Owner's Response: We sincerely apologize that the landscaper did not show up as scheduled in order to deal with the goat heads. The problem has since been cleared up, and won't be bothering any future guests. We hope we can get in touch with you in order to compensate you in some way for your troubles during your stay. We pride ourselves on being pet-friendly, so hearing this news has been quite upsetting to us. Hopefully, you were able to enjoy most of your stay, and we hope to see you in Santa Fe again some time soon.

Cozy and Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

The property is exactly as described as well as being spotless. The darling studio was equipped with everything we needed, down to the coffee! Owner was in contact with us twice in the first 24 hours to check on us... Very impressive! The recommendations in the welcome book provided was so helpful... Especially in choosing restaurants (excellent food). We will absolutely be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review! We are thrilled that you enjoyed our service and the cleanliness of our homes, because we work very hard to excel in both of those categories. We're also glad that you took advantage of the welcome book! A lot of our guests don't notice it. We hope to see you in Santa Fe again some time soon.

Nice location in beautiful area of Santa Fe

  • 4 of 5

The casita Paloma was clean, spacious, and well maintained, ideal for a couple.

We arrived at the beginning of the summer season, but the property was not quite ready for outdoor living yet. There were no lights on the patio and hot tub area, making it difficult to enjoy after dark. Weeds were still standing upon arrival, but a caretaker tended to them the second day we were there. Because this is located in a residential area, we had to listen to the next door barking dogs much of the day, although they were kept inside at night. These issues aside, we found the location great and the stay overall comfortable. We especially enjoyed the one block morning walks to the neighborhood bookstore and coffee shop along with the easy stroll over to the Canyon Road galleries and restaurants. For anyone up to longer walks, it would be possible to visit the Plaza area easily, although we chose to drive our car instead. We stayed four days and shopped, visited museums, drove the High Road to Taos, and ate good food everywhere!
