Denise Ferree purchased this cabin in 2008
George and Denise purchased the cabin in 2008 from the original owners who had owned it for 30 years and started renovations. After two years of long weekends and lots of elbow grease it was finally ready for visitors in December 2010!
Come see it for yourself and enjoy its comfort and natural beauty right outside your door!
Fairbanks offers lots of activities in summer and winter, so be sure to check out the Explore Fairbanks website to learn more about what is available to see and do when you are headed this way.
Also check out Chena Hot Springs website for photos of the incredible activities offered year round to keep you entertained while enjoying your Alaskan getaway.
Thank you very much! The cabin & Chena was perfect to spend New Years & ring in 2014!
This was my fourth time staying at The Ferree Cabin at Chena Hot Springs Resort and I will continue to stay here whenever I visit. As soon as you walk inside you can tell that George and Denise have went the extra mile to ensure a relaxing and comfortable stay from the ultra plush robes to the memory foam king size bed which is easy to spend all day in cuddled up watching movies. A quick walk to all of the resorts amenities including soaking in the healing waters of the hot springs. I highly recommend treating yourself to a few nights in this quaint cabin. Thanks again for another great getaway.
We *really* enjoyed the quiet and secluded, clean and well stocked (snacks/drinking water) cabin! This is truly a gem of a place to stay when visiting Chena Hot Springs. As Arnold said "I'll be back" :-)
We loved the cabin, plenty to keep us entertained with the long nights waiting for the lights (why we were in Chena). The resort itself was a little dated, but absolutely fine for a 3 night stay with a good bar/restaurant. The hot spring itself fed a pool but was definitely needed as it was below freezing outside the entire stay. 3 nights was enough for my girlfriend and the out house - don't expect luxuries out here! There are plenty of bathrooms located inside the main buildings though. We would certainly stay here again!
When visiting Chena Hot Springs, staying at the cabin is the perfect choice! So nice and quiet, bed is soooo comfortable. They have thought of everything you may need while there. They even have water and snacks there as well. I really appreciate the fact that it is a NON smoking cabin as well. I am also allergic to it and so its nice to not have to worry about that. We will be back next year!
the cabin is cozy, clean, and warm. Love the pictures hanging on the wall, snacks, and bottled water. Very close to everything. not bothered by the fact that we have to find bathrooms and showers in other buildings. saw northern lights two nights we were there. already recommended to friends.
All the information on this listing is accurate. The cabin is located on the grounds of Chena Hot Springs, and within walking distance to the hot springs, the Aurorium, and the Activities Center. Green lighting inside simulates the Aurora, which I saw during two nights. I soaked in the outdoor hot springs, enjoying the steam and the surrounding snow-covered hills.
The cabin was warm and cozy with the oil stove, even in below zero outside temperatures. The bed was warm and soft with several comforters. Green lighting inside simulated the Aurora. I watched several DVDs, and enjoyed the snacks that were provided. The lock system worked fine. Even though there was no water nor bathroom facilities, there was a lighted outhouse 100 feet away, and the Activity Center was open 24 hours/day.
I would return if in the area again. I would highly recommend this unique and rustic cabin.
60 scenic miles NE of Fairbanks. 1+ hr. from downtown Fairbanks or 1 hour 20 minutes from the Fairbanks airport on a completely paved year round maintained road.
The resort boasts 1940 acres of beautiful wilderness with an opportunity to see wildlife on the drive out along Chena Hot Springs Road and on nature walks at the resort.
It is also one of the best places on the planet to see the Aurora Borealis or 'Northern Lights'. Winter 2013-2014 will be the best Aurora viewing in over a decade.
Come see them for yourself and check it off your bucket list!
Other Activities: shopping, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, horseshoes, wildlife viewing, hiking
