About this property

Styling in the Soho of Santa Fe-Local Baca Street Art District

Enjoy the beautiful summer and winter weather in the comfort of Casa Alissa! Relax and enjoy this peaceful and bright two bedroom adobe Casita located in the SOHO of Santa Fe in the Baca Street Art District, centrally located with easy access to all of Santa Fe. Within walking distance of galleries, artist studios, cafe's, parks, and stores in the Baca Street Art District of South Railyard Park. This lovely Casita is in a quiet neighborhood and situated right across the street from the Acequia Rail Trail. Walk or bike a mere 10-15 minutes along the Acequia Rail Trail into the North Railyard Shopping area, Farmers Market, downtown Santa Fe, museums, art galleries, micro-breweries, or to a network of trails throughout Santa Fe and the surrounding areas. Right around the corner from this Casita is Larragoite Park with lots of green space, tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds and a dog walk area. Additionally, its close to a fitness center, indoor pool, shopping, entertainment, museums, and much, much, more due to its central location.

Enjoy local Baca Street activities such as glass-blowing lessons at Liquid Light Glass Studio with artist Elodie Holmes. Visit the pottery studio and galleries along Baca Street or grab a bite to eat at Counter Culture Cafe.

Optionally, you can choose to have a local chef come to the Casita and cook you a 'traditional New Mexican meal' while you enjoy margaritas and talk about your day. Local Santa Fe Chef Alma will delight you with home made tortillas, guacamole, enchiladas, and dessert or any meal of your choosing cooked right in the Casita while you relax. Please contact the owner if you are interested in a special dinner prior to booking. Times, dates, and costs are negotiated with the Chef.

Unwind over dinner on the private front porch or relax in the secluded back garden/patio area after a day of sight seeing in Santa Fe. Or just relax and curl up next to the kiva fireplace to enjoy a movie or read a book.

Recharge on the upgraded pillowtop mattresses while you enjoy the view into the private garden through the master bedroom patio entrance. Skylights in the kitchen and other rooms provide light and a feeling of openness throughout the Casita.

Delightful casita
The casita was just as described in listing. We had very few questions but the host was very prompt in responding to the few we had. We were in Santa Fe during a heavier than usual snowfall and cold temps but the casita was quite cosy. The kitchen is well equipped, beds are comfy. We didn’t get to make use of the outdoor sitting areas due to the cold and snow but we did admire their charm from the inside! Nice linens and robes provided. Would definitely recommend to others and would stay here again!

Nice except heating management
Nice place. Quiet, clean. Close to a walking trail that takes you to the Railyards. The one downside was managing the portable heaters in order to stay warm including pulling one into the bathroom when showering. The kitchen was nicely stocked other than no ice tray. Unfortunately the refrigerator froze some of our food. Nice sheets and good mattresses!

Great Place!
Great, clean, convenient place for my family and one dog. We loved the outdoor spaces when it was warm, and the fireplace inside when it was chilly. November turned out to be a wonderful time to visit SF!

About the host

I have lived in Santa Fe since 2004. While I have spent 20+ years in other areas of New Mexico, Santa Fe is by far my favorite place in New Mexico due to the rich influences of the local cultures, the artists, and its laid back style! There is always something to do in Santa Fe!

Why they chose this property

I bought this house due to its central location and ease of access to all of Santa Fe. Initially I bought it as a place for my children to live in while they worked in Santa Fe however with its easy access to downtown, museums, restaurants, and more we all fell in love with it. I especially like the Baca Street Art District with its easy going atmosphere, outdoor cafes, artist studios and galleries. If you want a taste of the real Santa Fe where the locals hang out, this is it. As Canyon Road and many areas of Santa Fe have gotten more and more expensive, many artists have chosen to move to the Baca Street Art District and set up galleries and studios. Recently Santa Fe developed the Railyard Park with trails, studios, galleries, shops, and green space in the Baca Street Art District, so more and more artists are relocating to this area.

What makes this property unique

While staying at my property, I enjoy strolling down to the galleries for art openings, to the cafes for breakfast, or to the Acequia trail for a walk. Once on the Acequia trail, its an easy 15-20 minute walk or bike into North Railyard Park to the Santa Fe Farmers Market where there is more shopping, more art galleries, and great restaurants. Top that all off with a little music and some brews from the local microbrewery and stroll or bike home!
Additionally, I always take my visiting family down the street to the Liquid Light Glass Studio for a glass-blowing lesson. Everyone always loves it, including the grandchildren!
