Austin born sisters, Dorene and Denise have lived in Austin their entire lives. Our family and friends live here and we can not imagine living anywhere else! Austin is one of the hottest spots to visit in the nation. The combination of nature, live bands, and great food (Tex-Mex, barbeque, eclectic)...we just love Austin! We have owned and managed properties for 12 years and enjoy giving people a comfortable beautiful place to live and stay.
Denise and Dorene purchased this house in 2002
This property was handed down to us from our father. He had the foresight to buy the property in the 1960's and it is very special to us. Our entire family grew up and attended school in this area and many friends remain. We have loved seeing how this area has changed and grown over the years and we can quickly tell you where something 'used to be'.
We have remodeled the entire house and turned it into a South Austin gem. It is in the perfect location since it is conveniently located to downtown, restaurants, entertainment, nature walks, and shopping. Yet, you can still relax and get away from it all by sitting on the back deck with your favorite beverage.
The feeling in the house is one of being in a safe place and calmness. From the kitchen, bathroom and back deck you catch glimpses of the high rises of downtown. There is native landscaping and a large fenced in backyard with a three tiered awesome deck. Located in a good location with speedy access to other areas in Austin via highways or major roads.
House was in a fantastic location and very comfortable. Owner Dorene was very helpful and responded to all of our inquiries right away. It's in walking distance to many restaurants and a 5 minute ride to downtown. Would definitely stay here again.
My husband and I rented this house along with another couple. The house is pretty tiny but perfect as an outpost in Austin. The backyard is the perfect place to enjoy morning coffee or afternoon drinks and you can't beat being directly next to Torchy's Tacos! I'm a runner and enjoyed running in the mornings in the surrounding neighborhood. It felt very safe. You're also only a few minutes drive to the restaurants and shops on South Congress and South Lamar and a quick cab ride to downtown. We had everything we needed supplied in the house and it was very clean. I'd highly recommend it!
We really liked this house. It was very comfortable and well suited to our family of 4. The outside is a nice bonus and even in the rain we could sit outside under the covered area. Like other guests we were drawn to Torchy's more than we'd expected - a great start to the day.
There is a bus service into town and we used Ride Austin taxi service in the absence of Uber and found it very efficient.
We'd consider returning here if ever find ourselves in Austin again.
We enjoyed our stay, too bad we did not have enough time to simply hang out in the back area! We had breakfast outside and really enjoyed being centrally located. The place was great, got a real sense of Austinian life! We would definitely choose this location again.
Everything was neat and clean when we arrived. It was warm but the window units cooled things down quickly. It was nice to have coffee and creamer provided. It's in a great location with easy access to south congress hot spots. We loved the back yard and hippie hollow nook. We would love to stay here again.
Thanks so much!
We loved this little house. While it is small, it does have a nice backyard and the hippie hang out is a unique hideaway. It sits just outside downtown Austin. This makes it easy to get around the city.
Newly remodeled South Austin home, located in a well established neighborhood in a great location. The house is fully equipped, has refurbished wooden floors throughout with antique furnishings. A fully fitted kitchen and interior dining area look out over the tiered deck. Enjoy your meals inside or out. Views of downtown Austin from the back deck. Comfortable living area with sofa and chairs to watch the 42 inch flat screen TV or surf the internet with free WiFi. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed, one with a double size bed, each has lamps and furniture. There is a queen size air mattress if needed for additional guests. A refurbished bathroom with a shower and tub will soothe your tired spirits. Parking for 2 cars in the driveway; bus stop is 1 block away. Don't miss out on Torchy's Tacos, a short stroll from your front door; great for those unique tacos to enjoy on your deck or venture down the street for some Tex-Mex dining in the evening.
Local mosaic artist, Stefanie Distefano, has bridge art displayed 1/4 mile from the house. Be sure to look 'under' the bridge to fully embrace her work.
Great local coffee shops and places to eat dotted all around. Food Trailers everywhere... try a different one each day.

This is a non-smoking home. Pet are allowed with the pet fee mentioned above. The washer and dryer are located in the carport, the picture shows wood chip flooring, we have up dated that by placing large stones around the washer/dryer area.
