In summer, the fishing, swimming, and boating are excellent and it is a perfect place to spend a family vacation. Just steps off the backyard is a multi tier deck/dock area with picnic table and boat storage. The lake has a gradual sandy bottom and is perfect for young kids playing in the water. The dock is a perfect place to tie up your boat, jump into the water, kayak or fish. We have two Kayaks, and a paddle boat for guest use for fabulous scenic trips on the lake.
In the fall, the foliage is spectacular and autumn is the perfect time to enjoy the foliage while boating on Lake Rescue or driving around the valley.
In winter, the house is also ideal for outdoor activities. The house is about 1 mile from Jackson Gore/Okemo. Lake Rescue is approximately one and one-half miles long and offers numerous activities in addition to nearby downhill skiing. (Ice fishing, Ice skating, sledding, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing)
Loved the farmhouse. Quiet but really close to town and many interesting places to visit and the lake was a short walk off the property for those who wanted to fish. Very spacious, there was plenty of room for all family members. Would definitely book this rental again.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse there was plenty of spacious room for 9 plus our family pet.The home was full of farmhouse charms. The home is located on a main road but that did affect our time enjoying the large yard and evening fire pit or sitting on the deck. The lake is a very short stroll front the back of the carriage house . We spent our day enjoying the kayaks that are available to use. There was a few things that the home does need to be address my biggest issue was all the dirty bathrooms that needed a good cleaning . Two of the bedrooms had sheets on the that were covered in animal hair and had to be washed before we slept in them. All 4 couches were very uncomfortable and had not been vacuumed in awhile under cushion were dirty.I certainly understand its a pet friendly place but a good cleaning would solve that. The kitchen was large with lots of room to cook only thing you need going there is plastic containers with lids for leftover and a working can opener there 2 there but they were broken and the gas grill has a issue with not all burners working. We still used it all week just took a little bit longer.
This was our first time renting this lovely farmhouse with our friends from college, after my family had come up to the area for years prior, renting a house on Red Bridge Road. At first we were hesitant about the house's location on Route 100, but that quickly became resolved by the peace and quietude of the area, as well as the excellent dock and picnic space that the house shared on Lake Rescue. There were many days that the excellence of the lake shore wooed us away from doing anything else. We also immensely enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boat throughout the week we spent there. The fire pit made for many a cozy evening.
The week we spent was a very much needed moment of relaxation for all of us, and we found the rental rate we split for this house for the week was incredibly reasonable. We look forward to returning next year!
My girlfriends and I had the most perfect weekend away at Cathy's house. The house provided everything we could ask for, from ample sleeping space to a firepit to lake access. I can't think of a single complaint or thing I would change. The three days spent at the house were somehow both fun and peaceful. We all left feeling relaxed and happy. The house was clean and essentials like toilet paper and towels were easy to find. Cathy herself was responsive and helpful, even calling the day of our arrival to check in. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful lakeside getaway. I can see where it would be a perfect family vacation spot, too. The lake is super close to the house so you can easily run back to use the bathroom or grab a snack, and the two kayaks and paddleboat make for a lot of fun. There's also a ton of yard space to spread out and play games. An excellent stay!
Beautiful surroundings and a great lake with amenities. Rooms are well kept. Two issues: the kitchen needs upgrading and the disposal area in the back carriage had a bad smell and was not properly cleaned and maintained.
