Mark and Gail love the Loggerhead turtles and it is reflective in the home's decor. The home is light and bright with beautiful teal and green colors.

A native of Wilmington, NC, Gail has always longed to return to the beaches. Her 2013 visit to Oak Island reminded her of the beach days of the past and she had to own here. Gail and Mark are now permanent residents of Oak Island. Gail brought 21 years of AZ real estate experience to the island and now works for Remax at the Beach. She understands the value of providing the level of service that has made her business a success. Like the Loggerhead turtles, she returned to her place of origin, North Carolina.
Gail Johnson purchased this house in 2013
We love your four legged family members but we MUST approve prior to booking. The home has a gated/tiled indoor area for small dogs under 20 pounds who don't do so well when you're not there. Back yard is fenced to keep them in.
Environmentally Friendly Cleaning
We make every effort to make this a “green” cottage with no toxic cleaners, no smoking, no artificial air fresheners and candles, promoting better indoor health quality for our guests and pets. We realize you have a choice in accommodations on Oak Island and we thank you for viewing our listing.

To the owners: thank you so much for checking in on us upon arrival and for allowing my four-legged best friend to enjoy vacation, too. It means a lot to me!!
We had a fantastic time during our stay at the Loggerhead Cottage. The place is decorated so cute! In addition, the place was spotless! It truly was a home away from home. Oak Island is a fantastic getaway.
A wonderful place for humans and their pets! Great fenced back yard and wonderful, safe neighborhood to walk pets. House was nicely decorated, spacious, AND clean!!! Thanks for a great trip. Love OI Beach. Be sure to eat at the Flying Fish on the water and visit Grape and Ale! Steve is very friendly, recommends great wines, and very knowledgeable about this area!
Our family of five found Loggerhead Cottage to be a clean, comfortable and cozy retreat. The property is well maintained and the owners friendly and helpful to work with. We were able to drive to a number of public access beaches within a matter of minutes. The patio was a nice and private place to sit and relax, and the backyard was larger than we expected for our four-legged child to run around. The neighborhood was quiet and a pleasant place to take a walk. We were blessed with 70+ degree weather during the first two days of our three-day stay, despite it being late November.
Had a wonderful time at loggerhead cottage. It was clean and comfortable, very comfy master bed. Dogs really enjoyed the fenced in yard. Would recommend to family and friends. Enjoyed eating at Island Way restaurant, food was wonderful and ocean front views were wonderful.
We really enjoyed our stay . The home was very clean . The area was quite and a real good place to take walks with our little dog . We highly recommend it , a great place to relax . We will be going back . Jeff/Carmen
Oak Island is our favorite place to relax and unwind. This year we discovered Loggerhead Cottage, and are very glad we did. Our vacation this year, our 11th at Oak Island, was for 17 days from 9/2-9/19 and it was wonderful. The pictures online do not do the home justice, the decor is quite tasteful, not the overly beach theme some homes have. The furnishings are comfortable, especially the beds, and the sitting/grilling area is very inviting and private. The owners have given a lot of thought when supplying their Cottage, everything is top quality from the towels and linens to the appliances, even beach gear!
We appreciate the concern Gail showed us when tropical depression Hermione arrived at the same time we did! The house weathered the storm without a qualm. There was a bit of high water in other places on the island, but we had no problems. After the storm we were able to enjoy the beach, Caswell is our personal favorite. We also enjoy the wildlife trails and taking pictures.
The seafood at Haag & Sons is one of the many things we look forward to on our yearly visits. We usually cook in and Loggerhead Cottage has a well equipped kitchen perfect for this. On the occasion we dine out Shagger Jacks is always a treat as well as Pepperoni Grill. The binder with info and menus provided with the Cottage was greatly appreciated and helped make our "where to go" choices easier.
When shopping for gifts , souvenirs , or just something unique Blue Crab Blue can't be beat. The owner, Barbara, features local artists and has a great deal of one of a kind jewelry and other items. Pottery, books, jellies and various art work are just a few of the items available there.
I could go on and on, but you owe it to yourself to try Oak Island and Loggerhead Cottage. I know we will be back!
Oak Island is a wooded island extending east/west about 10 miles and less than 1 mile north/south. Beautiful white sand beaches that you will have all to yourself October-May. Parking is plentiful with beach accesses at the end of almost every street. Bike from our cottage to the ocean or walk 1500 steps to the waterway.
