A devoted wife and mother of five, entrepreneur (at heart anyway), small business owner (housekeeping of course!), architect enthusiast, daydreamer - as my seven year old says :)
In a nutshell the reason why I love to share our home with you is because one of my "daydreams" is to own/run a bed and breakfast. So there you have it -
It is a delight to prepare our home for you to create many happy memories!
Mary Earles purchased this house in 2000
As a Charlottesville native and currently living in the Stony Point area (20 min N of town) I have to say there is no place like home. I fell in love with this property more than 25 years ago when my parents bought 45 acres and built their dream home. Years later my husband and I were able to build our dream home on the same property. I invite you to come experience the beauty we are blessed with every day!
Secluded woods atmosphere - large firepit - trails - pond - river - playroom
The title says it all, this home really was perfect! We had a group of 6 couples and everyone easily had their own space. The layout of the home was great for entertaining, the open kitchen and the massive back porch provided plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. The house was equipped with anything we could have needed. Everything was so clean it is hard to believe that the home is a permanent residence. There were ample sheets/towels; and with three large bathrooms no one was every waiting on a shower or a place to get ready. Mary was very available when I had questions regarding cab services and we had no problems getting transportation into downtown Charlottesville. This house is perfect for a group that wants their own space! The fire pit was wonderful for the evenings. I really can’t say enough about how perfect the whole experience was, and I would recommend Mary and her home to anyone in the future!
The house and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Mary also includes everything you need to make your stay great----from a fully stocked kitchen (including spices, tupperware, drinking thermoses, etc.) to tons of extra towels, to soaps and makeup removers in each bathroom, to charcoal for the barbecue and skewers for smores. We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation thanks to Mary!
A group of 11 UVa alums + spouses came to stay for the weekend to attend a wedding. We were delightfully surprised by the house and wished that we had more time to spend there! It was very tastefully decorated with several small touches that made it warm and inviting. We all agreed that the photos posted didn't do it justice. The house is far removed and so we didn't have to worry about disturbing neighbors. We were able to take advantage of the amazing open kitchen, fire pit, and front porch to just sit, talk, and catch up. Can I reiterate, amazing kitchen? It's fully stocked in all the right ways, except for maybe chefs knives, but I can understand that it might be a liability. (Or I couldn't find them) I can see the space being great for groups with young children and also being wonderful in the summer. There are tons of games, books, ways to just chill out. If you're in town for the vineyards, this would be a great space to reconnect, relax, and make memories.
15 ladies rented this house to do a winetasting weekend. The house was extremely comfortable and we did not feel cramped at all. We had a bus pick us up right from our doorstep to take us around to the wineries which was fantastic. We were concerned that cabs might not come out that far to take us into downtown Charlottesville at night, but it was not a problem. The ride was a good 25 minutes but we had no issues. The house was well stocked with towels and linens and was extremely clean. The owner was very responsive and informative. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
7 of of my girlfriends and I rented out this adorable house for a reunion of sorts with a friend who had just moved to VA. We were so excited when we arrived to see how cute and clean it was. We all ran to the rooms and found we each could get our own bed and 3 full bathrooms for getting ready. Perfect! Loved the large table in the kitchen for playing games and hanging out! And the rope swing/play area was fun for the adults too after a day at the wineries. The only 2 downsides to the property we found. First, was the location. It was gorgeous and secluded with woods all around, 2 bonuses, however with that comes the curvy road to town/wineries. We had a few motion sick ladies who got very sick on the drive. If you plan on staying put or don't have issues, this wouldn't be a problem. In fact we loved it so much, that many of my friends just said they would bring lots of anti-nausea meds next time so we could stay here. The second downside which was only a minor issue was we were unable to get any cable. As there was a big Packer game that day, we were sad to miss the hail mary pass caught to win the game in the final seconds. This is the only time we would have used the tv. All in all, I would recommend this house completely if you're in the area. Thank you Mary!
We housed 10 family members easily over a weekend in this lovely home, surrounded by woods and infused with charm, comfort, and signs that a large family grew up here focused on adventures and reading. For our grown-ups, the wood burning stove, large comfy kitchen, and very spacious and themed bedrooms were a delight. For some little ones, an upstairs playroom complete with large bean-bag chairs, loft, swing, toy rooms, were a haven--even for the adults! The front porch is very Virginian, and the back deck is large, with all the outside amenities steps away. We visited Early Mountain Vineyard for wine-tasting and had a candle-lit catered dinner there. Antiquing abounds, and Charlottesville stores are 10 minutes away for convenience. We'd come back in a heart-beat.
Only 10 beautiful miles from Historic Downtown C'ville, nestled in the heart of Stony Point, this home features a warm, family friendly atmosphere with lots of room to roam! With the Nature Conservancy bordering it's premises, this is an ideal place to hike on beautiful trails through the woods, to the winding Rivanna River. Only 7 miles from Castle Hill Cider, this is the perfect place to accommodate your wedding guests. And less than 10 miles away is the well know historic Barboursville Ruins and Winery.
