Why Patrick Burns Owner Operater chose Stanley
This is a custom built Log Chalet that I designed and Built to take advantage of the Natural Beauty of the area. The Chalet is built with an eye on the Pioneering Spirit of Early America. We built our Cabins to be unique and in context with the heritage of the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Mountain culture. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! The Chalet is one of the best Ways to 'go camping' with a really cool tent...the Chalet.
What makes this Chalet unique
The quite seclusion and natural beauty of the Area is consistently amazing me. I have seen at one time or another every bird Native to the Eastern Woods of North America including Eagles, Falcons, Red Cocakted Wood Peckers song birds of every type. Summers have the many Humming Birds Visit. Spring and Fall Migrations are a wonderful time to spot many different and unique birds. Part of our cabin is to enjoy the evening with a camp fire. Sitting around the fire with friends is an experience that you will enjoy and remember. There is ample free downed wood that can be found and used on the property. Watching the Stars on a clear night is something to behold. The Milky Way is clearly visible. On a full Moon night with clear weather you can go hiking at night without a flashlight. Hiking to the Shenandoah National Park is nearby and easy to do. Three Water Falls are close enough to hike in a day hike. Dark Hollow Falls and Lewis Falls, are accessible by trail SNP trails. Naked Creek West Falls, are a bush-whacking hike for the more adventurous. Big Meadows is just 'up the hill' about 1 and 1/2 Mile Hike from the area. Fishing at the nearby pond is also a great experience to relax and unwind. Thoughts of Huck Finn often slip into your mind while enjoying the quite natural beauty of the area.

If you are looking for a peaceful retreat away from it all , this is the place for you.
Spectacular scenery, and definitely an upgrade from a regular camping trip, yet still rustic. Many attractions are a short drive away, but the roads leading to the property are extremely steep and not paved, so choose your vehicle with that in mind. We had a wonderful stay!
Remote and cozy cabin.
Everything you need to escape the daily crazyness. The only sound you hear is from the jets in the hot tub while you take a relaxing bath out on the patio.
The whole renting process for super easy and smooth!
Thank you Dirk! You are an Excellent Guest and Welcome at any time!
The cabin was exactly as advertised. There were some weather issues in the area the day before our stay and the owners worked diligently to make sure the house was ready for us.
Yes, a foot of heavy wet snow fell on the first day of spring! Welcome to the mountains!
We have a great contractor that was able to get the cabins access opened.
Amanda was a great guest and welcome back at any time!
Simple and quiet
Nice cabin, hot tub was great and it was very quiet
Rustic Charm and re connection with family
First off, it is best to go here when it is still light outside as it is remote and I mean very remote. I also must say the owner is incredibly easy to work with and communicate with. This was my first time doing this and I didn't understand that the site will not automatically charge my credit card. The owner sent me a nice polite text asking for me to complete payment in order to get the code. I texted him back when it was complete and within seconds of my text he had sent me the code to get in.
We arrived at the chalet and our first impression was WOW! This is a beautiful home. There is no one around and it was super quiet. We set up and started to explore. What I loved about this was no wifi, no cell reception, just nature and family. Let me tell you, we were with our dear friends and their family so we had a total of five kids under the age of 15 all without wifi or internet. The first hour was complaints, so we gave them a ball and told them to go outside and play with that. Within minutes of being outside they were laughing and exploring the area. The entire weekend was like that! I know the owner suggested he would get wifi but I really urge him to reconsider. The peace and quiet of being unplugged was amazing.
The deck outside was great as well. It has a beautiful view and was large enough for the extended family to all sit outside and enjoy. I would say though, if you rent this in the winter with a large family, there really isn't enough space for you to all sit at a table as the inside table is small with four chairs. In the summer though, who wants to be inside?
The night was even better as we sat in the hot tub (very hot by the way so a big plus) and watched the stars with an amazing view of everything. There is a fire pit although we forgot wood and after all the rain the surrounding wood was way to wet to burn, but I am sure it would be a great experience otherwise.
There is a bedroom in the basement with a private bathroom. This sits next to the basement den which was very cozy and quaint. The main floor has another bedroom with out a bathroom but there is another bath just outside the door. The loft upstairs was large enough that four girls could sleep there. We brought an inflatable bed for upstairs and there was a queen bed up there already. There is also a queen size futon in the living room for even more guests. Only negative is the beds are quite hard.
We had a great time and can't wait to come back!
