Suite Summary

Myrtle Suite is a newly renovated, spacious and bright garden level suite within a character home. This self-catering, self-contained suite is part of a larger house where the owners reside upstairs. The suite is approx. 750 sf and provides 1 bedroom with queen-sized bed plus a queen sofa bed in the living area. It features full bath, in-suite laundry, hardwood and tile floors, own thermostat, modern kitchen and bathroom. Furnished, including kitchen utensils, plates, pots/pans, spices, etc. The kitchen entrance opens onto a sunny back garden that in the summer blooms with flowers, herbs and grape vines. The living area has a large picture window looking out onto the front garden and offers a gorgeous view of Vancouver's mountains and a peek-a-boo ocean view. Side windows provide more light.

Enjoy easy access by car or transit to Vancouver and surrounding area sights and activities.

You are just a 10-minute drive (or 20-minute bus ride) to downtown Vancouver including Gastown, Chinatown, Yaletown, theatres, museums and shopping. The campuses of Simon Fraser, BCIT and Capilano College are all about a 20-minute drive. The Trans Canada Highway #1 is minutes away, taking you to the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal with destinations including Vancouver Island, Bowen Island, scenic Gibson’s Landing and the Sunshine Coast; or drive a further 60-90 minutes north to the resort village of the Whistler/Blackcomb ski hills and beyond. Drive across the nearby Ironworkers Bridge, and in 20 minutes you can be enjoying our local ski resorts of Grouse, Seymour or Cypress mountains or many hiking and mountain biking trails (check out Capilano Suspension Bridge and park, Lynn Valley Canyon, Deep Cove and the Baden Powell Trail or the challenging Grouse Grind).

The Neighbourhood

With a stunning view of the mountains and Burrard inlet, 19th century New Westminster residents would flock to the popular recreational destination of New Brighton (as this area was then called). Later the area became part of Hastings Townsite, one of Vancouver's oldest neighbourhoods. Today, Burrardview is part of the Hastings-Sunrise community and close to the shops of 'East Village' along Hastings Street. Also known as the 'hidden triangle', the area is only a few blocks deep and not many more wide and is situated above the shores of Burrard Inlet.

Today Vancouver's charming Burrardview is a community of tree-lined streets blessed with many parks and ocean-view walks. Myrtle Suite is convenient to bus and bike routes. Walk to 'East Village' for shopping on eclectic East Hastings Street (restaurants, delis, grocery, bakeries, drug store, banks, community centre and other amenities). Take a short walk to the larger parks of New Brighton and Hastings Park and enjoy the local racecourse, casino and Playland with its famous heritage roller coaster. Hastings Park is also home to the Pacific National Exhibition in the last two weeks of August. This is a vibrant neighbourhood and retains a lovely charm and history in an absolutely spectacular setting!

About Toni

Originally from Scotland, our family immigrated in the 70s. I've lived in several New Zealand, France and several Canadian locations and in Vancouver from the mid 80s.

Why Toni chose East Side

Many years ago, bicycling around town, I discovered the area known as Burrardview (sometimes called the hidden triangle). I thought to myself how wonderful it would be to have a home here.

By very happy chance, and a lot of hard work, 'Myrtle House' is now our home. It is such a lovely location and wonderfully easy to get to so much of all that Vancouver has to offer. We always planned to have a vacation rental and now enjoy offering Myrtle Suite as a base to travellers and short-term visitors. Every day I am thankful for this home, the views, the location, the community.

What makes this house unique

The views from the house and the neighbourhood are stunning. Watching the sun light up the mountains in the morning or going down in the Northwest late on a summer evening never gets old. I love that we can wander down to the end of our street to play tennis or enjoy the park, we can take lovely walks around the neighbourhood, down to New Brighton park, up to the shops of Hastings Street. It is also terrific to be able to get to so many places in a 10 or 20 minute drive! Or to the airport in 40 minutes or even to Tswassen or Horseshoe Bay ferries.

Beautiful one bedroom close to parks and harbour in Vancouver

Everything met or exceeded our expectations and the property delivers exactly what is promised.

Toni and Bob ensured that our needs were completely taken care of.

The property is easily accessed by rental car from the airport and has it's own spot for parking. It is located in a nice area of town and scenic walks can be had in any direction.

We toured the lower mainland extensively and this was an excellent base!

You won't be disappointed!

I would highly recommend this property

We showed up early off a cruise and Toni was so accommodating allowing us to check in early.

The location for us was good as we had rented a car and we liked walking down to the McDonald's and sitting in the nearby parks and watching the boat and air traffic of Burrard Inlet

Toni is super fast at responding via the HomeAway app.

Toni and Bob are the kind of people you can sit down with and chat with and they both have a wealth of information for any traveler coming to visit Vancouver and surrounding areas.

I would stay there again when we come back to Vancouver.

The BBQ worked well for us and we found the suite very well equipped with utensils, dishes and other kitchen essentials.

And they have the Best Pinball Machine.

Very nice

Beautiful and comfortable home with everything in it you will need for your stay. Beds have a little soft mattresses.

Otherwise great location to downtown and everywhere. I can definitely recommend it.

Excellent location and beautiful residence!

Excellent location....only a few miles (km) from middle of downtown. Beautiful residence and stocked with everything imaginable. Owners were amazing and so welcoming...even meeting us when we arrived and bringing by fresh "snacks" one evening. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality and for making our trip unforgettable!!
