About Issy Durkin

This house was built by the owners- a career builder/designer and a local teacher. This house is the result of years of experience building custom homes; specializing in historic timber frames.

Issy Durkin purchased this house in 2013

Why Issy Durkin chose New York

-One of the reasons we chose to build on this site is because it is very close to the water - and we've also dreamed of owning a waterfront property. Most houses on the lake are 2 or 3 or more stories above the water level with numerous flights of stair-we're just 20 feet from the water.

-Goodyear Lake appealed to us because it's picturesque 344 acre lake, not extremely active (there is no public launch, and is very quiet and relaxing.

-We choose the Cooperstown area-not only because of its location to the baseball hall of fame-but because of the many other features it has to offer. Within a short distance there are several shops, restaurants, parks, and hiking/outdoor recreation facilities.

What makes this house unique

-50 feet of picturesque waterfront includes a generous area for outdoor seating and grill

Swimming and fishing available from the dock

-Canoe available for use

-Newly built- the fall of 2013

-The home is built from a hand-hewed timber framed barn. Original barn built in the 1830’s by English settlers in the Catskill Mountains (Gilboa, NY)

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have had such a wonderful week in your beautiful house! Shared it with family who appreciated the beauty and quiet of the lake after a busy day of baseball :) Lots of canoe trips and evenings on the porch! You have such a spectacular joy incorporating architectural elements from the barn into your home-we have enjoyed and appreciated it so much!

All the best,

Great place to stay!

Beautiful home. Worked well for All Star Village. However, Cooperstown not a bad drive.

Nice but needs a few updates

  • 3 of 5

Shared this home with another family. The bed my husband and I slept in was very uncomfortable and loud. We would wake up with every turn. The window units were also loud. Only the bedrooms have A/C units. The main area of the house does not have A/C at all. That part of the house could use a portable room unit. The bathrooms were very nice and kitchen was nice as well. I really liked the washer/dryer. They are newer units and washed and dried very quickly. The house is located about a 20 minute drive from All Star Village.

Absolutely beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the location of this lake house. Close enough to dreams park but far enough away. Very comfortable beds. Well stocked kitchen and bath supplies. We loved cooking on the amazing stove!! I want one just like it at home! Every detail of this house has been thought out. We look forward to staying here again in two years. The Cawthons 6-4-3 DP 12u Cougars Marietta GA

Hats off to the owners of this property. It has a terrific layout and is well maintained. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy a vacation with all of the "home like" amenities and then some.

Beautiful Lake House and convenient to Cooperstown All Star Village

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful, spacious and clean with an open main floor plan. We had 8 people sharing the home and we were very comfortable for the week. The house is about 20 minutes drive to All Star Village, and easily accessible. We hired a pontoon from a local company, and were able to utilize the dock to come and go from a couple of the other homes on the lake. The canoe was also fun to paddle around in... we had several eagle sightings from the back deck, and at one point there were two males and a female nesting in the trees directly across the lake. 30 minutes from the Hall of Fame, and there is a grocery store approximately 15 minutes away. Quiet, relaxing and perfect for what we needed for a week of baseball.

Great house/great location

  • 5 of 5

The house was great both in design and lake location. We could not have been more pleased! Spacious, clean, beautiful view, plus the use the beams and siding from an old barn throughout the house made this a terrific choice for our family.
