About John Eckley

I built this house new in the year 2000 halfway up the Navajo Mountain taking advantage of the spectacular views from this half acre home site that has slopes and flats for great snow sledding on the property for the kids!

John Eckley purchased this house in 2000

Why John Eckley chose Brian Head

The house is located on the Navajo Mountain, walking distance from the Navajo Ski Runs. Park your car in the garage and leave it there! The roads are plowed by the town of Brian Head as required. Two wheel drive is OK most of the time but not all the time.

What makes this house unique

You can ride 4 wheel ATV's and snowmobiles to and from the property to anywhere in Brian Head. The Town has over 100 miles of ATV/Snowmobile trails that are maintained by the town for your riding pleasure. You can also just watch the deer wander by as they roam the area.

Spacious, Quiet, Great View

  • 4 of 5

We arrived in Brian Head soon after a devastating fire. The hillside where this cabin is located is untouched, as well as the area immediately around, and the resort. Because of the fire, we were not allowed to use the fire ring. This was disappointing, but understandable. The air is clean and cool. The resort is quiet because many people canceled plans to vacation there. As far as this cabin, it is spacious and practical, no granite here. There is only one neighbor and no one was occupying that cabin as there was construction work going on, so this cabin was quite private though a bit noisy. There are security cameras located in the dining and living rooms which was a little disturbing. The view is inspiring, think pines and aspens, sunrise is inspiring. The cabin is well stocked with anything vacationers might need. We shared our cabin with an industrious little mouse. I believe there was only one. He made his way to the kitchen each night, so we made certain not to leave food out. We wanted to see animals in the wild, and this little mouse was accommodating. The bath towels are a bit threadbare, but plentiful. The jet tubs were quiet and deep, very relaxing. The appliances worked well in the kitchen, There were 2 ovens, 2 stove tops, 2 refrigerators-plenty. We had our entire family staying there, 12 people and 3 babies. The location of this cabin is wonderful. It is just out of the resort area so you are surrounded by trees. At the same time, it is close enough to the main road and resort so it is convenient. We had a great stay here and my whole family is eager to return. We can recommend the pizza place as well.

Owner's Response: The property is managed by myself the owner. The Video System is part of the Security System for the house and property. The two inside cameras are turned off when guests are checked-in. This can be verified by checking the monitor in the laundry room. All Hotels and Motels have security cameras in all public places right up to your room door and they don't turn any of them off. I manage the house from afar and it's the only way that I can monitor the house and property when it's vacant for several months at a time in the off season. I have six outside cameras. I use them to monitor the property and conditions. I monitor the weather, wind, rain, snow, road, driveway and Forest Fires. Nancy, thank you for your great review and I'm glad that you had a Great Time! Owner

Thank you John for sharing your cabin.

Our family of 16 had a great time at our first annual Christmas in January get away. Snowboarding, sledding, snowman building and a few snowball fights. Your spacious cabin was the perfect setting for our gathering. We enjoyed great food prepared in the large kitchen, played games around the two big dining tables and lounged by the fire. Everyone had an amazing time and can't wait to do it again. The two washers and dryers were an awesome touch and the jetted tubs were perfect after a fun busy day.

Great multi family place

  • 5 of 5

Lots of room for everyone. Multiple bedrooms and bathrooms to suit all. Kitchen is well appointed and plenty of space to have more than one cook in the kitchen! Great views of Brian head ski area. We brought our dogs and the cabin is secuded enough to let the dogs explore around the cabin.

Awesome vacation cabin

  • 5 of 5

Finding a good looking cabin for our large family was dificult, but once we saw John's property, we knew it would fit us nicely. We were able to bring our small dogs at the time as well. Pictures definately does not do this cabin justice, the cabin is actually quite roomy and the TV's have been upraded to LCDs. John was very helpful whenever we had a question or concern prior to arriving. His cabin is fully stocked with cooking wares, utensils and just about what you would need to cook up a meal in terms of tools. The bathrooms were stocked with clean towels, hand soap as well as new bar soaps. The cabin had great views on those that werent covered by the trees. The dining area is very large which made it easy to feed 16+ people at the same time. The family room/living room is nice and cozy with the wood burning stove giving great heat. Having washer and dryer is a plus.

The only downside was the top floor restroom did not have a shower head at the time since it was being repaired. Also the bottom floor restroom did not have a shower head but was working, we had people taking a shower without the head since they didnt mind it. Im sure John will get this fixed right away. He is very helpful and informative.

All in all, our family was very happy with the cabin. We had a great time at Brian Head and would definately contact John again to stay in his cabin for our next visit.

Owner's Response: The upstairs bathroom shower head has been removed and capped off because of water leaks around the tub. The whole thing needs to be removed and remodeled. The shower head in the downstairs bathroom is a low flow type and is different, but it is a shower head. That's why it works. The upstairs bathtub is a Jet Tub. Most people would rather have a Jet Tub Bath instead of a shower. I'm glad that overall you liked the house. It is in a good location with great views and close to everything. Owner

We went here the week before Christmas in 2007 and it was breathtaking to say the least! We had an amazing time that will never be forgotten, it was the last time that my husbands family was all together before his mother passed from cancer that following January. We snowboarded, skied, played in the snow, cooked, ate, laughed and had a wonderful time in this beautiful house!!! It was super close to everything too! Hopefully we'll be able to go again soon.
