Cabin with outdoor hot tub and view of Second Lake!

Bedrooms 2
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Peaceful Cabin On Second Lake. Enjoy the hot tub, fire pit, and the lake!

This sweet little modern log cabin is just 2 miles off of interstate I-35! 100 miles north of the Twin Cities and 50 miles south of Duluth. The is the perfect place to lose yourself for a week or weekend to find relaxation! Second Lake is a 44 acre private (no public access), serene, quiet lake with a spectacular view from anywhere on the lake. The cabin presents 2 bedrooms one with queen bed, one with full size bed. Full kitchen (no dishwasher) and full bath. Extras include free onsite washer and dryer, cable tv, and wireless internet! Enjoy a spacious camp fire area for those chilly, minnesota nights, and our outdoor hot tub for the even chillier ones! Lake is visible from cabin although there is no lake access or swimming area. Although at the cabin, there is a little trail that leads to a dock... the dock is not practical for use. To access the lake, you would have a short 4 minute walk down a pretty wooded driveway! There you would find paddle boat, canoe and row boat to use. We have four adult size life jackets available.

We cannot allow pets.

Complimentary Kettle River Pizza included with each stay!

Amenities –

Hot and cold running well water - the water in this location is naturally very high in iron. Even with the extensive water filtering systems installed in the cabin, the water can (not always) have a iron tinge to it and can (not always) have a sulfur odor. The refrigerator dispenses water (although slowly).

Heated cabin

Central air

Full kitchen (sorry, no dishwasher) Fridge has water and ice dispenser. This water does come out of the dispenser SLOW, but the water is very good!

Full bathroom

Cable tv

Bedroom with queen size bed

Bedroom with full size bed

Futon in living room - not the most comfortable to sleep on!

Washer and dryer

Hot tub - Please note, that there is always the chance that the hot tub may need to be serviced before or on rare occasions, during your stay. It can happen that, after inspecting the hot tub when guests check out, we need to empty it, clean it and then refill before the next guests can enjoy. It could happen that the water may not be up to temp by the time the next guest arrives later that day. This does not happen very often, but the possibility is there. Also, if there are several people staying at the cabin, or if the stay is more than two days, we may need to check the treatment levels during your stay. If so, we try to do it while you are away from the cabin so as to not disturb your time there. We do not need to enter the cabin to do this. Though these situations may be inconvenient to guests, it is necessary.

Lake - Although you can see the lake...please note that this property does not have direct access to the lake. You will need take a short walk down a wooded drive to access the water.

Screened in fish cleaning house

Patio area

Furnished cabin

Guestbook comments from the manager

Lance's place was amazing in every way. We went up for a weekend getaway with a group of friends, and with the fire pit, grill, and hot tub, this was the perfect cozy cabin for the event. The house was stalked with every connivence imaginable, and with seven people, we never felt cramped. Lance was such a gracious host before, during, and after our stay. We'll be raving about this for months to come!

Cabin with outdoor hot tub and view of Second Lake!
average rating of 4.7222223 based on 43 reviews

We refer to this as the"good" cabin. I believe this our 4th stay.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful lake, gorgeous sunsets, and crazy wildlife! I've named the chipmunk's and the birds. This is the place we go to unwind in the fall. The hot tub is glorious, and the area is just so beautiful in the fall! Thanks for the pizza! See you next fall!

Neat Little Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here for our honeymoon. It was tidy, cozy, and peaceful, with a beautiful view of the lake. We spent most of our days out and about exploring the Duluth area, but it was nice to have the cabin to come back to so we could relax and enjoy the hot tub.

Nice and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was cozy and quiet. We had a nice relaxing getaway weekend. I love that it was only a short drive off 35 but we didn't hear any traffic noise.

The cabin itself is very clean and well stocked, with the exception of bar soap or body wash for the shower. We brought a bunch of food, so we didn't end up eating the pizza, but it was there for us in the freezer.

Hot tub was clean and hot! So relaxing looking at the lake and the seeing the colors!

Quiet, peaceful location BUT definitely disappointed

  • 1 of 5

We were so excited for our first (of many we hope) sibling get away. We are all in our sixties and decided it was time we spent time together. We found this location and saw that there were amazing reviews so we booked it. It was hot and humid when we arrived and were very happy to see there was air conditioning available! We were however concerned about the water in the cabin. It had a kind of foul rotten egg smell so we did not feel comfortable drinking it. We noticed that we could get water through the fridge which was being filtered however it dispensed so slow that we decided to purchase some bottled water for drinking, making coffee, brushing teeth etc. We also noticed that the lake was not as close to the cabin as we had thought and had to walk through the woods and down a bank to get to the dock. There were lots of lily pads and other things growing near the dock. We were not able to even wade in the water. We also did not use the hot tub due to the inability to take a shower because of foul smelling water and all the hair we found on the shower floor. It was nice to see the updated fridge and microwave and we enjoyed the homey "cabin" interior. We enjoyed the pizza very much and loved using the Pizzazz to cook it!!! We were hoping to make this our annual get away place, however we will be looking elsewhere.

Owner's Response: We are sorry this guest was disappointed re: the lake location and such. As described in the property description ... "The lake view visible from cabin although there is no lake access or swimming area. To access the lake, you would have a short 4 minute walk down the wooded driveway! There you would find paddle boat, canoe and row boat to use"... On the cabin property...There is a little trail leading to a dock - but the dock is not practical for use. The water in this area is naturally high in iron. Even with the extensive water filtering systems installed in the cabin, the water can (not always) have a iron tinge to it and can (not always) have a sulfur odor. Drinking water is great from the refrigerator dispenser, although it does dispense slowly. I did add this bit of information to the description of the cabin on the website.

Beautiful location. Shame about lack of cleanliness, damp patches, and clutter.

  • 2 of 5

Location was peaceful and charming. Perfect in fact.

Cabin it's self was very dated , 2nd bedroom had washer and dryer inside. Whole place was very dusty and needed a good hoovering. Damp in both bedrooms, which isn't good when my daughters have asthma.

The bath and toilet were brown. Really needed a good up date.

Owner's Response: Gosh... we are surprised by this review. We have not heard the cabin described like this before. We take great pride in keeping it very clean, tidy and pleasing to the eye. The new washer and dryer are tucked into a closet area in the bedroom. The washer and dryer are available for guests to use while there, which seems to be an asset to the cabin. The entire interior of the cabin was freshly painted with modern colors this early summer. The toilet bowl does have some iron stains, but it is very clean. The water is naturally very high in iron - we have several filter devices in place which remedies the majority of the iron . The bathtub is definitely NOT brown. We thoroughly vacuum the carpet, wash the floors, disinfect the counters, sinks, toilet and bathtub area after each stay. It may have been an extra humid day - so this may contribute to the "damp" feeling in the air. The décor, bedding and furniture are modern and go with the "feel" of the cabin. I am unsure re: the clutter comment. We have only the basics there. We feel really bad that these guests have such a negative opinion of the cabin. We want everyone to love the experience and want to came back. Thank you.
