Why Katrina Ringer chose Central Massachusetts

Golf at the Reese Jones Blackstone National Golf Course - 10 minutes, Brimfield Flea Market-May/July/Sept - 40 minutes, Newport Mansions - 1hr. Horseback riding, beaches, hiking and biking in the Douglas State Forest - next door. We are in southern Worcester county bordering Ct. and RI. Great location as it is near Rt146, RT. 395, RT. 290, and 10min. to the Mass. Pike. We are located on Lake Manchaug in Douglas. The lake is approx. 7 miles around.

There are many vineyards nearby - Taylor Brook to name just one and we are very close to a wonderful section of Ct. Woodstock, Pomfret and Putnam which are full of antique shops. Go ahead... use Google to find your own local attractions... we did.

Amazingly peaceful

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay on Lake Manchaug for many reasons but most of all for its peaceful beauty. The house has everything you need and a Market Basket ten minutes down the road for all your food shopping. Although we knew there were great restaurants near by we didn't want to leave even on the few rainy days we encountered. We enjoyed morning coffee on the swing and evening camp fires by the dock. Watching what we think was an osprey diving into the water to fish was an added bonus as well as the sea plan that entertained us almost daily. The plane was fun to watch take off and land just to the right of the property.

We can't wait to rent again next year,

Best vacation ever!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great week at this property. The lakefront was beautiful! The property was as described. Even with GPS, it would have been great if the owner could have provided some helpful hints to renters to avoid wrong turns on the private road leading down to the property (eg, bear right at the rock with the 3 and a left at the rock with 30something on it).

Boats were in good condition and we used them all, especially the kayaks. We had a bbq on the grill and it worked well. Hose bib outside in the front didn't work - would be great to wash off sandy feet... Air conditioning was welcome and used during the week that we were there when it was in the 90s!

Plenty of closet space and hangers in the bedrooms. One thing I'd note is that there are two towel bars in the main bath and a hand towel ring in the half bath. Renters might bring along a few of those suction cup hooks to hang a bathing suit or towel on.

The Blackstone Valley golf course nearby has some killer clam chowder (we didn't golf but went for lunch). Would definitely go there again. One day we got a platter of sandwiches at the Sutton Center Store. The staff was great and the food was terrific.

We hope to return to this property in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Gorgeous Relaxing Lake Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year staying in this beautiful location. We spent 2 wonderful weeks swimming, boating, and entertaining family and friends. The house is clean and well maintained and also has central air! The yard is huge! There are plenty of areas to "get away" from everything. Love it here!

Wonderful and Private Lakefront Home

  • 5 of 5

What a great place - very private, quiet and the lake views are amazing from everywhere on the property This part of Massachusetts is beautiful and the lake is much quieter than some of the lakes in New Hampshire or Maine, without a lot of speed boats, especially during the week. The yard is quite large with plenty of seating areas and chairs, allowing you the option to sit in the sun or the shade. There is also a couple of picnic tables. Katrina leaves you with everything you need - a kayak, rowboat and canoes you can use to explore the lake, plenty of towels if you choose to swim or just dip your tows and a nice large grill for barbecuing. The house is nice, clean and spacious - lots of windows and good natural light. We would definitely come back again.

Scenic Wonderland in Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

The PERFECT spot for our family to meet for a long weekend. Immaculate home, kitchen stocked with all the cooking utensils you'll need, great open plan from living to dining to kitchen to all be together. Plenty of space with all the decks, screened porch, adirondack chairs,'s paradise. From sunrise to sunset the views are incredible. Our family enjoyed hanging around the outdoor firepit, making s'mores, fishing from the dock, taking rowboat rides around the lake, bbq'ing on the deck, the changing reflections in the water plus the foliage completed the backdrop for our family soccer or softball games in the huge front yard. Don't miss Whittier Farm at end of road for amazing homemade pies, fresh vegetables, jams, premade dinners and more. A day trip to Sturbridge was our only time off property and we could not wait to get back! We would definitely recommend this property and return ourselves. The owner, Katrina, was great to work with and promptly answered any questions.

This property was better then anticipated and perfect for our family reunion. The lake was beautiful! there were a couple of issues with how it was cleaned but other than that it was absolutely a wonderful stay for us. Can't wait to go back.
