About Gail Peck

We have hosted for over 5 years and are proud of our 100+ great reviews. Here are some clips from recent guest reviews about us and our properties: “Gail and Danny were absolutely GREAT! They were very helpful getting situated in the house. Gail was kind enough to pick me up from the metro station on the first day…The place is very conveniently located near the Silver Spring downtown, close to metro, restaurants, gyms, convenience stores….Danny and Gail were attentive while allowing us privacy and freedom to come and go as needed…We loved the casual and comfortable surroundings and the personalities of our hosts….My best [B&B] experience so far !!! This place is great, especially if you're an AIRP attendee ! :) ...This was truly a home away from home. If i ever go back to DC, I know where I'm heading. …The house was lovely and exactly as listed, and the neighborhood was safe, welcoming, and a short walk from anything you could possibly need …Their place was clean, cosy and comfortable. Plus, I had no trouble commuting into DC every day and I felt safe in the area around their house….The kitchen has a lot of room for cooking and it's always clean as well. It was actually a little sad to leave….This experience in [street name] avenue is one of those which we wont forget. The house is clean, cozy, and somehow unique and authentic….Better than expected: the house is big, cute, cosy, cleaned and you have everything you need. They are always trying to help you and are so respectful,….”

You or your group can choose from individual or a combination of 3 private guest rooms in our B&B home or a separate fully furnished 3-bdrm guesthouse next door. We have provided very complete descriptions of all of our listings with photos. If you have reviewed the photos and descriptions and we have not covered your unique concern, feel free to contact us with your questions.

If you are considering one of our listings, we'd like to know something about you, too.

Safe Travels!

Why Gail Peck chose Maryland - Washington DC

This home is convenient for a variety of travel purposes with friends, colleagues or family. Past guests have included: students from Japan; medical residents from the U.S. and abroad; families visiting DC and local relatives. Many of our guests are radiologists who are here to attend the AIRP review course at the AFI Theatre. Of course, we accept other travelers as well and have hosted guests from all over the world. We seek to earn your highest satisfaction, feel free to ask us for anything during your stay to make your experience more comfortable.

What makes this house unique

The home has 1800 sq ft with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. All bedrooms can sleep 2 or more and have desks, bureaus and closets. The 3rd bedroom or lower-level suite is a large, 500sf private space with separate entrance, full bath and partial kitchen.

The 2-level layout with kitchen, bath and sleeping on both levels is uniquely suited for professional and academic groups. Shopping and lively entertainment options are within walking distance as well as tranquil, meandering walk/jog/bike trails.

The large and grassy back-yard garden is a rarity this close to the city. Nice for families, grilling and unwinding after work or sightseeing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Elizabeth and I hit it off from the first conversation. She is warm, friendly and forthcoming with information about herself, which we appreciate. She has traveled extensively and stayed in many guest houses as well as hosted. She maintained our home during her holiday stay as if it was her own. We'd host her again anytime and hope to keep in touch.

Charming home near Washington DC

  • 5 of 5

The home was very comfortable and charming. Many extras were unexpectedly provided - umbrellas and rain poncho, shampoo and conditioner and extra towels as needed. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us. Would definitely recommend this home for a stay near DC.

A pleasure to work with

  • 5 of 5

I had to change my travel plans and so unfortunately had to cancel this reservation, but Gail (the owner) was so accommodating and helpful with the process I have only wonderful things to say about her. The property looks lovely and I'm sure we would have enjoyed our stay there immensely.

Great House, convenient to DC and downtown Silver Spring

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here 10 weeks and it was the perfect size for the 4-6 people we had in the house throughout our stay. The house is nicely equipped and has a very large yard, great for BBQ's in the backyard. It is about a 10 minute walk to the Silver Spring Metro stop and 10-15 minutes to any of the amenities in downtown Silver Spring. On the metro you can access most anything in DC conveniently. We enjoyed our stay, Gail and Danny were very helpful and accommodating, and would highly recommend.

Owner's Response: We're very glad to know the house worked out so well for you and your family. Thanks for taking such good care of it. You inspired us to emphasize the attraction of the large back yard to our description and we've added some photos. You're welcome back anytime. All the best in your new home.

Washington, dc

Downtown washington dc is 7 miles away. We are 1 mile from takoma park and silver spring metro stations, you can walk, bus, ride a bike or drive and park your car at the metro and take the redline train to washington dc. The stations nearest the tourist sites are union station (10 mins), metro center (15mins) and the smithsonian on the blue line (15 mins, switch lines at metro center).

Takoma park is a walkable, green and friendly urban city with a year round producer-only farmers market every sunday. This community is open minded and supportive of alternative lifestyles and individualism. The neighborhood is known as 'the berkeley of the east'. Known for its numerous mature trees creating a serene feeling of living in the woods. It's quiet, family friendly and offers a wide variety of restaurants, shops and a yoga center.

Equally close is silver spring with its restaurant row offering a wealth of cuisines and wonderful opportunities in entertainment. The afi silver theater offers first run and classic films as well as an annual documentary festival. Afi is also where the airp radiology course is held 6 times/yr. Many of our guests are here from all over the world to attend this course. The majestic theater has 20-screens. For live performance, there's round house theatre, live summer concerts and the annual silver spring jazz festival. In the winter downtown silver spring has a popular outdoor ice skating rink.

There are many local concerts, exhibits, dances and neighborhood festivals. A few worth mentioning are:

* afi docs in june

* jazzfest june 10th

* the folk festival sept 9

* the street festival oct 7
