About this property

Entire private house away from tourists in a small Italian town

Italian cultural immersion! Relax in a charming and comfortable entire private house located in the historic center of a small Umbrian hill town, Pozzo. Enjoy your morning coffee on the balcony that overlooks the piazza, while you practice your Italian with the neighbors. Sip a glass of the famous Sagrantino wine while you enjoy the local specialties of the region - truffles, local meats and cheeses, and the wonderfully fresh vegetables. The Sagrantino road awaits you with its wealth of world-class wineries on the road that leads to medieval hill towns such as Montefalco, Spello, Assisi and Bevagna. The house has two bedrooms, one with a huge bathroom, including a large bathtub and a separate shower. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated with nostalgic chenille bedspreads and vintage furniture. Windows open onto a vista of the vineyard covered hills of Umbria - life doesn't get any better. The kitchen is fully equipped; there is a dining room, complete with fireplace, and a comfortably appointed living room with another full bathroom. The house is furnished throughout with vintage pieces that were originally used in Hollywood films. Getting around Umbria is easy! You can easily travel around to all the beautiful hill towns, wineries, restaurants, and in general be wowed by the beautiful, green softly rolling hills that surround the house. A multi-lingual representative is also available to help with any of your needs, including winery tours, travel arrangements, restaurant reservations etc. A car is definitely recommended. **New addition - roll-down window screens have been added so that you can use them as needed for your comfort!

Gorgeous location and impeccable property
We loved our stay in this lovely home. It was perfect for my mother and I to stay in. It was impeccably clean and had everything we need. The view from the bedroom and the terrace are beyond belief and we enjoyed breakfasts on the terrace every day. The village is lovely and quiet but close enough to everything in Umbria. If you’re looking to relax in a genuine Italian village then stay here. The host was also so so helpful, we could not have asked for more!

What a fantastic area is Umbria. We came to Umbria from Tuscany. Umbria is as beautiful as Tuscany without the tourists. Pozzo is a great location from which to visit all of the very beautiful and interesting hillside towns. In the eleven days we visited Montefalco, Assisi, Gualdo Cantaneo, Trevi ,Foligno, and Spoleto. All very , very good to visit. Assisi was our favourite closely followed by Spoleto. All worth a visit and an easy drive from Pozzo which is centrally located. The house/apartment is very comfortable. Great views from the windows and the church bells create a good atmosphere from 7am til 10pm Well equipped functional kitchen that we used on most days. Strong wifi and cable tv were plus points Pozzo is a very friendly village. Orlanda next door became good friends with my wife, Julie, and we also befriended Guiseppe & Christina who run the local Alimentari ( mini supermarket) literally 20 m from the front door. All communication was conducted in Italian – what a lot of fun. Raquel, who manages the property for Diane, was very responsive. She arranged a cooking class at the local winery/restaurant with Wendy a 20 year Italian resident originally from Australia. The cooking class was extraordinary and highly recommended. Raquel followed up on our every request. Her English is very good. She gave us accurate advice on where to buy specific products. Very handy in a country where retailing structures are a lot different to Australia. We would definitely visit Pozzo again and stay in this comfortable house .We could not fault our visit to Pozzo. Thanks for the wine you left for us and be assured the flowers were well watered. Regards Russell

Beautiful!
Beautiful apartment in a quaint town in the Umbrian hills. All rooms are spacious and well decorated. Raquel was so wonderful and patient with directing us when we lost our GPS. She actually came to meet us 20 minutes from the property so that we could follow her there. Only one downside, I think that all dishes, pots and pans, etc. should be glanced by cleaning folks…looks like most were not washed - maybe just rinsed and put away. Overall a wonderful stay!

Fabulous House and Umbria was wonderful
We had the best time in Umbria! Casa di Fabio was everything we hoped for, great kitchen, fully equipped! Great gas stove! The town of Pozzo is so charming and people so friendly. A little grocery was close nearby! The bedding was soft and there were screens on all windows so we could open them and smell the clean, mountain air! Loved it!

Charming Small Village in Umbria
Troy & I had a wonderful stay in the small town of Pozzo. The property was well appointed with everything we needed to make ourselves at home for a week. Raquel, the property manager was extremely responsive and provided us with reservations to a wonderful restaurant in the town of Guildo Cattaneo for lunch, which turned out to be in our top 3 restaurants during our trip! After spending 3 weeks traveling to several holiday crowded main cities, it was a pleasant break to relax and sample real Italian lifestyle. There are 25 wineries in the area if you love to sample fine wines from the regions, in addition to several Olive oil farms as well. A car as we found out is essential if you want to get out and really see the countryside, and as "americans" you should be cautious when driving on the small 2 lane roads which we do not see that often. In regards to the Church Bell that others have commented on, took a little getting use to at first however, after we left we found that we missed hearing it, as it adds to the charm of the property.I would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to get a true experience of small town italian lifestyle! Thank you Diane and Mike for opening your home away from home up to us! Sherry & Troy -Tucson, AZ, USA

Why they chose this property

We always loved Italy - the culture, the language, the food, and finally decided "hey, why not buy a house there?" So, that's what we did.

What makes this property unique

We love the friendly atmosphere of Pozzo. When we visit, we feel like a part of the family. It's a small town, and everybody knows everybody, and there are some of the nicest people you will ever meet there!
