About Martha Swartzentruber

We (Tobie and Martha) have enjoyed raising our four children on our ten acre lot in Amish country. Tobie was raised in the Amish culture. Martha was raised in a Mennonite culture. We realized that we could begin to share this beautiful view with guests when Martha's mother Leah expressed an interest in opening a bed and breakfast. She continues to do an amazing job in cleaning and cooking breakfasts. Just like our guests we continue to love to sit outside around our campfire and enjoy the amazing view as we relax and build relationships.

Martha Swartzentruber purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Martha Swartzentruber chose Ohio

We bought this property when our oldest daughter Jessica was two years old. We climbed the hill and caught our breaths at the amazing view. We instantly fell in love with the setting and Tobie pointed out a spot in the back pasture where he dreamed of putting in a large pond. In 2001 we planned and built our brick home. A few years later we purchased the stone cottage half way down the lane. In 2012 we completed the big brick building by our house. We continue to dream of adding more stone cottages around a pond we would like to create in our 9 acre pasture.

What makes this apartment unique

We love the quiet country evenings here and the breathtaking view. It has a way of relaxing you when you take it all in!!

If you like quiet, this is the place to stay.

Absolutely enjoyed our time at the Loft. It had to be the quietest place I've ever stayed at. The scenery was beautiful from the deck and we enjoyed taking walks down the street. As others have commented, Martha's breakfasts were delicious! Can't wait to return.

What a wonderful experience! The loft was truly a home away from home while we explored the area.

  • 5 of 5

The loft is very nicely decorated with the perfect amount of accents to make us feel right at home. We loved that there were two beds to choose from, one firmer and one a little more soft. We got to be Goldilocks and try them both out! Everything is nicely labeled and it was wonderful to only have to bring one suitcase for the both of us because of everything that was provided in the loft.

As other reviewers have stated the breakfasts are incredible. They were better in my opinion than many restaurants I have been to. Also the hot tub was a great way to unwind after a long day of shopping and sightseeing. I liked that there were a variety of magazines and information pamphlets so we could do a little research and plan our days. The travelhost magazine had a very helpful page on what places were open on Sunday.

Do not hesitate to book either the loft of the cottage. These owners are top notch and you will enjoy your stay.

Owner's Response: Thankyou for writing us a wonderful review! Wow! Thanks for the complimenta on the breakfast! We do try to make your stay as comfortable as possible and since we have enjoyed the hot tub on the deck also I would have to agree that it is very relaxing and unwinding to spend time in there! Thank you for mentioning the magazines. I plan to do a while notebook on what's available in the area!

Beautiful scenery off the deck. Very well kept property. Great to be able to keep car inside the garage. Easy to get too. The only critique is that one of the roll away bed

mattress appeared to be stained.

Owner's Response: Thankyou for mentioning the well kept property and the garage. I am glad you enjoyed the scenery. I apologize about the stain. I checked on that right away and we gave that cot a new mattress. We have quite a few cots so please ask me for another one next time. Thankyou so much for taking the time to write us a review. We really enjoyed having you here!

~Beautiful Quite Country Get-Away!~

  • 5 of 5

After researching many places for a quick get away with my husband, I came upon this hidden gem-"The Loft"! I'm very picky about cleanliness, location & pricing. I read review after review on the properties owned by Martha & Tobie. Upon our arrival I can honestly say it was all true! Martha has done a wonderful job with everything, including the much appreciated hot breakfast the next morning. We loved the outdoor hot tub overlooking nothing but country side peace & quite!

Couples considering renting this place please keep this in mind.... It’s like breathing a breath of fresh air into your relationship. We all invest in our homes, cars, jobs, schools, churches, & children, why not invest in your relationship with your spouse? It’s well worth the investment!
