Exactly what I was looking for

  • 5 of 5

My husband had planned a fishing trip in northern Michigan with his brother at the beginning of Spring Break - and I decided our girls and I were overdue for a mini-vacation too! I chose Pittsburgh because it was within a 6 hour drive of where we live, it has a lot to offer for the kids, and I was interested in exploring a city I had not previously spent much time in. Brent and Kim's place could not have been a better fit for me and my girls (ages 6 and 9). The communication prior to arriving and upon arrival was excellent. Brent even called me as I was traveling to Pittsburgh to make sure I had received the information I needed to have in order access the house, as I had neglected to respond to an email he had sent with the necessary information. We arrived at 12:30 a.m and easily found street parking (a parking permit was provided and parking was never a problem) and were able to get into the house (keys accessed via lockbox). The place was exactly as shown in the pictures - no surprises. We had everything we needed to be comfortable. The only thing that slightly disappointed my kids was that although there was an awesome jacuzzi, the hot water ran out before the tub was full enough to work the jets. No big deal though - they simply used it more like a small swimming pool (it is truly a *huge* tub!). :)

The location of this rowhouse was perfect. I was able to drive to the Carnegie Science Center, the Children's museum, and the incline in 15-20 minutes. The zoo was practically down the street - maybe a 10 minute drive. We could walk out the door and either up the hill or down to shop or eat - again, a fantastic location. We especially enjoyed discovering the White Whale Bookstore. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much for a great mother/daughter get-away!

Overall good

  • 4 of 5

Everything was great...the only negative is that parking is tight especially if you have a large pickup truck like I have. Someone took my parking space and I had to park at another sector and unfortunately I got a ticket.

The interior is newly remodeled and done superbly, however the hot water heater is too small to fill up the bath tub for a bath.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the feedback. The parking permit is supposed to be good for the whole Lawrenceville area, so I am confused why they gave you a ticket. I will have to check with the city. I do know about the bath and will need to get a bigger water heater. In the meantime, I have increased the temperature.

Clean, roomy accomodations close to all the fun things in Pittsburgh!

  • 5 of 5

This house was extremely clean and very well supplied. The owners were considerate and helpful and checked in with us by email after we got there to make sure everything was O.K. The house is very close to the Children's Hospital and convenient to all the sites that we went to see. We visited the Carnegie Art & Science Museums, the Phipps Conservatory, the Duquesne Incline, Point State Park and the Strip District. It took us no more than 10 minutes to get to any of them. Parking is on the street but was not a problem. We were there Thursday through Sunday and never had a problem parking very close to the house. We enjoyed having the space to relax in after a day on the town and being able to cook some of our own meals. Definitely better than a hotel! We would recommend Barb's Corner Kitchen at 4711 Butler Street (we walked there) for an excellent, cheap breakfast with great service!
