We love traveling. After spending 20+ years with the US Air Force, we settled in Pittsburgh, PA. We love the beautiful hills around the Pittsburgh area and the ideal setting of the city nestled between hills and rivers.
Brent and Kim Hepner purchased this townhome in 2013
We loved staying at this row house in Lawrenceville! It is very comfortable, has a well equipped kitchen, a lovely back yard and a great location convenient to Butler St, Penn Ave, and Children's hospital. The owners were extremely helpful and responsive!
The row houwe was very clean with nice amenities. The area is being revitalized and is worth and afternoon or afternoon visiting or hanging out. Relatively close proximity to downtown and other areas of interest. Would recommend if you don't mind steep steps going upstairs. Owners were very repsonsive after we left some stuff in the house.
My family and I stayed at this house for 8 days. It was my husband, myself, and our 2 children (3 and 1). This house does have steep steps but there is a gate at the house to block kids from going up and we had no issues with them on the steps. The beds were all comfortable! Even the pull out couch was not to bad which we used a couple nights because our 3 year old wanted to sleep on it. The house was clean, roomie and the bathroom was amazing. Huge shower and the jacuzzi tub was fantastic for the kids and myself. We loved this house because it was close to everything in the city. The longest travel time to something we went to was 18 minutes. It is street parking but you get a permit and we never had any issues getting a spot right in front of the house. We will be staying here again for sure we are so pleased with the little row house in the burgh. There is no cable but we brought dvds and we also brought our laptop and an HDMI cable and steamed netflix and xfinifty through the laptop. If you need a place to stay I would HIGHLY recommend this. On top of everything the neighborhood is wonderful with TONS of restaurants. The only suggestion I would make to the homeowners would be to put a curtain up on the back door (there is already a rod just no curtain).
This is a lovely rowhouse. All the furniture is good quality, and it was obviously updated in the not too recent past. Nothing felt old or worn out, and it was very clean. The amount of things stocked in the kitchen and bathroom felt more than enough, we had no trouble cooking or anything like that. There were three adult friends staying here, and so we would have appreciated a second toilet on the first floor, but we made do. The bed I slept on was very comfortable. I enjoyed using the super deep spa tub, it was the best! It does take so much water though, that it basically uses the entire hot water heater. The tub was only used in the evenings though, so morning showers weren't affected, but you definitely wouldn't be able to do two hot baths with enough water to run the jets in one night. Not really a big downside unless you're in a very similar situation with several adult women excited to relax away from their kids. All of the bedrooms are upstairs, and the stairs are VERY steep, so staying here with young kids might be tricky.
You can walk to the area's sort of main street, where we did some shopping. There's a glass blower shop which was very cool, and a very unique gift shop where we all bought several things. There are several restaurants, though we mostly cooked. We did go to the Industry Public House for lunch, and I enjoyed my fish and chips. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. Unless you're there for the children's hospital though, most other things you might want to do in the area are driving distance, and I didn't notice much in the way of public transportation. So the convenience of the location may vary a lot depending on your desires. We were quite happy with it because it was quiet. Parking was easy with the permits the host provided.
The hosts themselves seemed very nice. We never met them in person, but they answered all of my questions whenever I had them, and even mailed me the handmade belt I'd left in the closet.
If you're not worried about being in the center of Pittsburgh, this place is perfect. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation, and I'd definitely do it again.
We enjoyed our stay at the Little Row house on our recent road trip through to the East Coast. The house was roomy and we were all comfortable. My kids loved having the twin beds and watching TV in the Jacuzzi. We ate at a nearby Mexican restaurant the first night and made dinner in the kitchen at the house the second night. We enjoyed the selection of games and puzzles available as well. The owners cautioned us to be careful on the steps to the second floor, which were pretty steep - so if you have difficulty with stairs this is probably not the best fit. The one thing I was looking for, but didn't find, was Kleenex. My allergies were acting up and there weren't any tissues. Other than that one minor thing, we were really happy with our choice of this vacation rental.
We recently stayed in the little rowhouse in the Burgh for the US Open weekend. The beds were very comfortable, and the Jacuzzi tub was nice for a soak after a long, hot day of watching golf. Brent and Kim were great to work with, and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The location of the house is excellent, close enough to everything, and convenient. I will definitely stay here again, if I return to Pittsburgh.
The house is located in Lawrenceville within the city of Pittsburgh. The house is next door to Children's Hospital on the bus line with easy access to Downtown, Oakland, and Shadyside. The house is ideal for visiting trendy shops and restaurants in Lawrenceville and the Strip District (market area).
