I am torn about how many stars to give this property. The location was great -- convenient and on a charming street. And the property manager, Dolan, was very responsive and tried to address issues. . But she could not address the problems with apartment 1. Chief among them was the extremely inadequate sound insulation between ground floor unit and second floor unit. We could hear every footstep upstairs accompanied by squeaking floor boards. Kept us up many nights. Also, there was a continuing problem of water and black particles dropping from bathroom ceiling fan onto toilet. Cleaning fan and ducts only partially alleviated this problem . There were other lesser problems as well, reflecting I believe poor construction or renovation, like flickering lights and a bathroom door that stuck and tub faucet that seemed like it was about to come off the wall. We've had good luck in the past with VRBO rentals, but not this time.
This property was just as advertised. It is in a nice neighborhood that is quiet but within walking distance to most things in Georgetown. It was spacious and clean with all the amenities. Dolan was very helpful and accessible. The notebook was very helpful in figuring out the apartment and navigating Washington DC. It is a good walk to the Metro but we Ubered around with no problems. We will definitely be back!
Federal Flats, #1 is in a perfect location to walk to Georgetown. Although it is located on P street near the Rock Creek Pkwy entrance, the street noise is minimal. It is very close to the Dupont Circle metro also. An additional outside locked door entrance provides extra security for this first floor apartment. The apartment was as pictured and extremely clean. There was a lot of closet space if you are staying more than a few days. Communication from Federal Flats, Dolen, was very timely and she answered all my questions. I also made use of the book with directions and commonly asked questions so that was a nice addition. I only have a few suggestions that came up during my 3 day stay: The cable tv was not functioning correctly. It kept asking for a 4 digit pin after each show ended so this was troublesome and probably should be addressed with the cable company. Secondly, the fan in the bathroom is extremely loud (works well!) and it automatically comes on when you turn the lights on so you can't turn it off when you are just using the mirror or washing your hands. It would be great if the lights and fan could be separated to two different switches so you don't have to listen to the loud fan every time you have the light on. Lastly, you may want to consider using fragrance free detergent for sheets and towels. While the scent is pleasant to most, if you are sensitive to fragrance it is somewhat overwhelming. Overall, it was a very nice apartment and I would recommend it.
This apartment was precisely as the owner describes it: clean, comfortable, quiet and well-located. The owner was quick to respond to questions before and during our stay. Would definitely stay here again next time work or pleasure takes me to DC and recommend.
Wonderful place, exactly as described. This apartment was very functional, a lot of closet space, and comfortable decor. Dolen was a great communicator for the few questions that I had before I arrived, and his communication for my arrival regarding parking and accessing the apartment was very thorough. The neighborhood is incredible, easy access by foot for food and groceries. I stayed two nights but wished I could have stayed longer, and will definitely stay there when I get out that way again!
The apartment was very nice, very clean and had everything we needed. Quiet apartment, comfy bed. Location is wonderful - park across the street, one block down from an upscale gourmet deli where you can get freshly prepared foods and snacks if you don't want to go out to eat. The pastrami sandwich will feed 6 people (no joke). Beautiful and historical neighborhood, walking distance to Dumbarton Oaks, the Phillips Museum, Oak Hill Cemetery (worth a visit) and lots of other interesting places. We have read quite a bit about the inefficient Metro system (due to construction, etc) so we used Uber to get to the monuments, Smithsonian and Kennedy Center.
The owner was very responsive to a small problem we had and the reservation and payment process was smooth.
I would recommend this apartment wholeheartedly.
