About Martha Swartzentruber

Tobie was raised on an Amish farm here in Ohio. He decided to leave the Amish and left home on his eighteenth birthday. Martha was raised Mennonite and while we appreciate alot of the good things we were taught we left the Mennonite church three years ago. We now attend Freedom Fellowship where we are quite active in children's church and in mentoring. Tobie also owns his own business called Cornerstone Masonry. We love family and realize the importance of building lasting relationships.

Martha Swartzentruber purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Martha Swartzentruber chose Ohio

When we climbed the hill to see this property it was the view that took our breath away. Then Tobie spotted a dip in the pasture outback where he envisioned a pond. We fell in love with it right away because of the country and the wide open space. We still dream of putting a pond in the pasture and putting more stone cottages around it.

What makes this cottage unique

We planned and built our brick home in 2003. A few years later we purchased the cottage where Martha's sister lived till 2012. In 2005 Martha's mother moved out in a property next to ours. It was in 2012 that we built the big brick shop and decided to put a loft on top of it. Now we are so happy that we get to share this beautiful setting with guest who want to relax and get away from the pressures of life. Nothing relaxes you quite like taking in an awesome quiet country view or enjoying a majestic sunset on a warm summer evening.

Sweet Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We only got to stay a couple nights for our honeymoon but we have already talked about wanting to stay again in the spring or summer. The cottage was so relaxing and quaint. We especially loved the breakfasts that was delivered in a basket on our door step. They were delicious! Can't wait to go back and hopefully stay longer!

Our Cottage Stay

  • 5 of 5

Just a short note to express our thanks for the time we spent in the Cottage. It was so nice, restful and peaceful. The country side is gorgeous. Martha made amazing breakfast every morning, delivered to the door. We are early risers and breakfast usually does not arrive until 9:00 am.. But I text her and ask if it was not too much of an inconvenience could it be brought by 8:00 am.. She was so complementary, it was there.... It was the perfect getaway for me and my husband. Mother nature added a special bonus with the snow.... Thoroughly enjoyed our time spent in the Cottage. sincerely Eddie and Diane Tarrant - Douglas, Ga

Best Romantic Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at the Cottage, couldn't have chosen a better relaxing, quiet and peaceful place. This little getaway is beautifully decorated with a warm cozy feeling and is exceptionally clean. The countryside side views are amazing, peaceful and relaxing. The place is well stocked with everything you need, nothing was overlooked. Martha's breakfast were absolutely delicious,we couldn't wait to see what we were having each morning for breakfast. If you are considering choosing to stay here to celebrate a special occasion or just to get away, you will not be disappointed in any way. Can't wait to return for another visit.

Honeymoon cottage

  • 5 of 5

Such a beautiful little stone cottage. We were here for our 55th anniversary and up in years so found the basement bedroom and bathroom a bit difficult but it would be wonderful for honeymooners. We loved the pond and fountain. If you need a place to relax and "get away from it all", this is the place. It was clean as a pin and well stocked with water and snacks. Thanks for the great week.

Owner's Response: Thank you for writing a review for our beautiful stone cottage . I am so glad you enjoyed your stay here! With the sound of water running in the pond and the scenery you will find yourself relaxing! The steps may be a problem for older folk and I hope to build a handicapped accessible cottage in the future! It is the perfect place for honeymooners... We are having more and more.. Thank you for mentioning how clean it was and the water and the snacks .

Beautiful cottage and surrounding area!

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED our stay here, whether relaxing and having a fire next to the swing overlooking the pond, watching a movie by the fireplace, enjoying a soak in the jacuzzi or having a delicious breakfast brought by the cottage at 9 am by our gracious hosts. Off the beaten path and very relaxing, but only about 10 minutes from the more touristy parts of Amish Country. 5/5 would stay again.
