Comfortable, Charming cottage. Helpful welcoming owner.
Well placed for the causeway coast
Very welcoming host to this comfortable property which was accurately described in the details. It was lovely to arrive to the warmth of the wood burning stove. Good location, only a mile away from a beautiful beach and not much further to the Giant’s Causeway.
A cottage full of character in a beautiful location
This lovely cottage offers a unique experience. It is fully equipped and very comfortable and has a charm consistent with its age. The location is great - within a few miles of Bushmills, quiet, peaceful and set in beautiful countryside. The stay was made all the more enjoyable by the kind and thoughtful touches provided by Rosalind - fresh flowers on the window sills and a home made pot of jam on the table. It is a gem!
A quaint traditional dog friendly cottage.
The Coves is the ideal base for visiting the north Antrim Coast.
We stayed here with our dog and found the cottage to be a very quaint and comfortable home from home.
Rosalind is a wonderful host - very friendly and knowledgable about the local area.
The house is quaint and little touches like fresh flowers, lots of books, a welcome back of soda bread, jam, milk, tea and coffee is a real bonus. The weather was unseasonably cold for our visit and Rosalind made sure we had plenty of logs to keep the stove lit in the evenings.
For anyone traveling with their dog, I'd recommend The Fullerton Arms in nearby Ballintoy for dining out and the Marine Hotel is Ballycastle is also dog friendly, with a very nice coffee shop.
Cosy and perfect
We stayed with Rosalind and her family in the adjoining cottage
Perfect location only a short distance from all interesting sights and beautiful beaches and restaurants
Our hosts were very friendly and courteous
Everything we needed
Thank you Rosalind 👌
Quaint little farm house situated in the countryside, but only 5 minutes from coast and Bushmill.
As we arrived fairly late in the evening after sightseeing enroute, it was great to find the accommodation stocked with a starter pack of food. Things like, tea, coffee, milk, bread among a few items to tide us over until the following day. Although the accommodation has two bedrooms, it is ideally suited to two people, allowing the second bedroom to be used for the storage of suitcases, excess clothing and the like.
The combined living room and kitchen was suitable for our needs, with the kitchen containing most cooking facilities and utensils to cook evening meals.
Water pressure, especially in the bathroom is quite low, and taking a shower meant sitting in the tub to direct the handheld shower over yourself, but as the ambient temperature was warm and the water itself from the boiler very hot, the low water flow did not cause any real inconvenience, but a pump to boost water pressure would be recommended. The only other two recommendations I would add, would be a ventilation system over the cooktop and an increase of lighting in the living/kitchen area.
Overall a very enjoyable stay and I would have no hesitation in staying again.
Coves' Cottage enjoys a rural setting 1½ miles from spectacular White Park Bay beach on the Causeway Coastal Route, a 10 minute drive from the Giant’s Causeway, the Olde Bushmills’ Distillery and Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. The charming costal towns of Portstewart, Portrush, Portballintrae, Ballintoy and Ballycastle are all within a 20 minute drive.
Rathlin Island and the Glens of Antrim are also within easy reach, making it an ideal base for touring the area or relaxing and enjoying the views. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts many beautiful beaches, coastal walks, castles and activities including fishing, golf, bird watching, cycling and water sports.
