We love the Burke community, the quiet setting and nearby, beautiful Burke Mountain.
Biking and skiing right in your backyard.
We received all the instructions through VRBO when the timing got closer (specific instructions on where to find the key). We arrived once it was dark and searched and searched for the key but couldn't find it. We reached out to the owner, Matt, and the housekeeper listed but it took 45 minutes to get a hold of either of them. Once we did get the instructions they were completely different than those provided through VRBO.
The listing wasn't accurate. The photos and way the siding was put up in front of the house feels like it's trying to hide that it is a mobile home and quite small. It worked fine for us and I'm ok with that, but it felt dishonest. There is wood siding covering the exterior from the sides shown in photos but not other sides of the house. Many areas were unfinished and had been that way for quite some time judging by the book with details on the coffee table from over a year prior. The faucet in one bathroom didn't function correctly. The home was fine and seemed clean but had a lot of spiderwebs (like it was cleaned after the last renters which may have been some time before).
The fire pit was a nice addition and included the wood which was great. The hot tub worked and was enjoyed. The location is great for mountain biking- we rode to the trails from the house each day. When checking out we weren't provided further instructions so we followed the newest instructions for how we got in.
Awesome location right on the mountain. Walking distance to the baselodge. The cabin was rustic but very nice. Small in scale yet we mananaged to accommodate everyone easily. Well appointed and the hot tub was a great bonus.
Cabin is as advertised; nothing fancy but has all the amenities (hot tub, grill, water hose, washer/dryer) one needs for a mountain bike vacation. Matt, owner, is very prompt in response and coordinating stay. We had some troubles with the water pressure with indoor showers so the outdoor shower got plenty of use! I would recommend this property to others and would stay here again.
Matt's place is perfectly located in East Burke for mountain biking. You can park your car and go everywhere on your bike ! Minutes from Burke Mountain for DH or Turnham Down to go ride the Darling Hill area. Clean and with all amenities you need on a bike trip including outside shower, gas and charcoal grill, hot tub, fire pit, large parking, cleaner and dryer...
This place was perfect for a few guys riding Kingdom Trails over the weekend. The grill out back was a great asset that we used every night and the garage was super handy when the rain came and we wanted to shelter our bikes. Kitchen had sufficient supplies for cooking breakfasts each morning. Would definitely come back for another visit and maybe next time we'll come in the winter seeing as Burke is just a few hundred feet up the road.
This was a great find. 6 of us stayed here for a weekend mountain biking excursion. The location is perfect. The place was clean and had everything we needed - gas grill, fire pit, hot tub and a ping pong table in the garage. The owner was very responsive when we had questions. Will be staying here again next year. If you're traveling to East Burke during the winter - this is pretty much as close as you can get to the base lodge.
Superb location on access road to ski area. Less than 1/4 mile to Burke Mountain Base Lodge and Kingdom Trails Biking. 1 mile to East Burke Village. 10 miles to Lyndonville and 15 miles to St.Johnsbury. 60 minutes to Jay Peak Ski Resort.
