About Cubby Momsen

My husband, Frits and I built this cottage from an old barn that we rescued. This was our home while building our new house just completed in October 2013. We lived here with our two dogs very comfortably for 21/2 years and now want to share it with our guests. Frits is a builder who can manage any building or repair job and I am an active real estate broker. Prior to building this new house we lived in Stowe for 35 years. We are available to our guests around the clock should you need anything.

Cubby Momsen purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Cubby Momsen chose Stowe Area

Whether you are a couple who love nature and the outdoors or just like to curl up next to the wood stove with a good book, you will enjoy this beautiful setting and charming cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

Natural ledges, huge rock formations and gorgeous southerly views attracted us to this 18 acre parcel of land surrounded by larger conserved acreage. Building here was a challenge but well worth the effort. We love the convenience of being on the south side of Stowe for easy access to Burlington and the airport yet tucked away in our own private place to enjoy the birds and animals that reside here with us.

Great Weekend Stay

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at this beautiful cottage for a weekend. Hiking trails right off the back yard take you on great trails with fantastic views. Only 5-10 minutes from Stowe and 30 minutes from downtown Burlington. Cottage has everything you could need. We had a great weekend.

Awesome trip and great location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the Badger Cottage for short weekend away to celebrate our anniversary. The cabin is wonderful and very well appointed. The property is amazing with a wonderful short hike right outside the door. Views were breathtaking, especially because the leaves were changing. The cabin is a 10-15 minute drive from Waterbury and Stowe and 25-30 minute drive to Camels hump for hiking and Burlington. Cubby and Frits are such kind and thoughtful hosts. We will definitely be back this winter or in the spring and plan to bring our dogs.

Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

The property was perfectly located between Waterbury and Stowe for good food options. There was hiking close by with the trail behind the house and also with Smugglers Notch/Mt Mansfield and also with options further south. We stayed there on our honeymoon and loved the option of cooking in and using the wifi for entertainment. Would love to stay again!

Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at the Badger cabin for two nights in early October 2016 (we had our 9 month old son with us, too). We very much enjoyed our visit. The cabin and its surrounds are beautiful and serene. Cubby and her husband are kind, thoughtful, and completely unobtrusive hosts. Cubby was very good about communicating everything we needed to know ahead of our arrival. Although the owners live very close to the cabin, we did not see them until the last day when they were starting a hike just as we were loading up our car to check out. The property is located down a long private driveway, but the owner's directions are very easy to follow, and even Google maps even gets the address right. Another bonus: there's a hiking trail literally just behind the cabin, I only wish we had had time to explore it. One word of caution to parents, the owners are very child-friendly, but the second floor loft (where the master bedroom is located) is not safe for unsupervised toddlers or very young children because they could easily fall down to the first level. The only other thing I'd mention is that the upstairs bathroom is very small and not easy to use if you're tall as I am. But the downstairs one is fine, and hey, this is a cabin. Otherwise, the cabin is very well appointed with all the amenities that a couple would possibly need for a brief stay--even good wi-fi. All said, we were very happy guests and would most certainly come back in a heartbeat. My wife and I left wishing we had more time there. Highly recommend!

Cozy cabin in a beautiful setting and prime location.

  • 5 of 5

This property is beautiful, with its own trail through the woods and near a pond. The cabin had everything needed and was so quaint and comfortable. The location was ideal for visiting Stowe, Waterbury or Burlington. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks Cubby and Fitz!
