About Shirley

We are retired, empty-nesters not ready to leave this beautiful property. My husband and I grew up in the Minneapolis-St Paul area. We are experienced vacation rental travelers, and enjoy sailing, fishing, golfing, motorcycling, hiking, and the arts. My life-long hobby is photography.

Shirley purchased this house in 1997

Why Shirley chose Wisconsin

We wanted to enjoy the best of rural living (privacy, solitude, a variety of birds and wildlife, wide-open spaces and heavily-wooded areas) with an easy commute to Minneapolis-St. Paul to enjoy everything city-living has to offer and the Mpls.-St. Paul airport.

Being close to Sillwater, Minnesota, a town I visited often before moving here, has so much to offer: a beautiful waterfront, historic architecture, unique shops and restaurants was a bonus.

What makes this house unique

Our home is well-built in an extremely quiet neighborhood. Laminate-wood floors in the 3-season porch and 2nd floor bedroom upstairs. Master bedroom on main floor carpeted in berber. Soft, low carpeting in the bedrooms. Hilltop, panoramic views from the deck, rooms in the back of the house, and the bonfire pit. Hike trails on the property for a good workout, especially climbing back uphill. Snowshoe or cross-country ski on fresh snow without having to pack up the car.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your home was perhaps the nicest one we have rented and we have been doing this for almost 30 years. You are so organized and your home so clean and well supplied....we really enjoyed sitting on the porch and also the living room comfortable sofa to watch a movie. The shop "My happy place" in Somerset was really fun too!

Thanks again for letting us stay in your home!

This is our second time staying here. It is just perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect place to stay if you want quality time with your friends or family. We spent the days in Stillwater and the mornings/evenings at the home. The home has plenty of space for family to spread out but perfect for interaction with the whole group. Very clean, very peaceful, peaceful and easy to find. Great restaurant just a few miles from their home. Book your stay today!

Great Girls Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a gem! We had six girlfriends stay in this home over the weekend. We were looking for a place where we could spend some time together and also be close to some fun things to do. The property this home sits on is beautiful and it feels very secluded. We had a bonfire on Friday night and watched movies on Saturday night. The kitchen, dining, and living room were open which provided us a great space to connect. We are already planning a trip back here next year...we loved it. Stillwater is a short drive away and we spent Saturday morning/afternoon there. Hoping to hit Hudson next year. What a great location!

Owner was very responsive and all info provided was well-organized. Beds were super comfy. Plenty of towels. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for the weekend. Couldn't have been more perfect. Thank you!!

Mother - Daughter Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time at this property. The location was perfect, away from the busy town life but close enough to Stillwater to take advantage of their activities. Loved sitting out on the deck at night. The home was very clean and had all the amenities needed. Thanks so much...great memories were made!

We were very happy with our stay. Worked very well for our family weekend vacation. We thought we would be able to swim in the lake but it was to weedy.

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

This home far exceeded our expectations! It was beautiful. More than enough room. Watched a deer in the back yard and many birds flying around. Sat out on the deck where we could overlook the lake!! The house was stocked amazingly well and clean as a whistle!! Only drawback...we didn't get to meet the owner, Shirley! She was so pleasant and accommodating! The three old ladies could not have been happier!! Thanks for making this happen for us. We hope to return one day! Oh, and so much to see in the area without a great deal of driving.

Thank you! Sharon C.
