Beautifully Maintained Victorian Home & Apartment Walk To The Beach

Bedrooms 5
Property type house
Minimum Stay nights

Photos and Description of this Ocean Park holiday house

On A Quiet Street That Ends At The Beach, Perfect For Extended Families

Beautifully maintained 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom Victorian, less than a minute walk from the longest (7 miles) uninterrupted sandy beach in Maine, and a short, 2 minute walk to the center of the town of Ocean Park. The house works particularly well for mufti-generational families because it includes a main house and an attached apartment. The main house has 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms (One with a Queen bed, one with two twin beds, and one with 2 bunk beds and a trundle). There is an attached apartment with two bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other with a single bed) and its own living room, kitchen, dining area and bathroom.

Additional amenities include free Wi-Fi, flat screen HD cable TV (in both the main house and apartment), 2 full kitchens including a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, stove, and refrigerator, and in the main house a dishwasher and washer/dryer. Both the house and the Apt are fully furnished with the exception of bedding and towels. Outside you will have an enclosed porch, beach chairs, clothes line, beach umbrellas, beach toys, and a charcoal grill. Parking this close to the beach is at a premium and there are 3 off street parking spots at our home right in the heart of Ocean Park.

About David Mead-Fox

My sister and I own the home having inherited it from our mother. Along with our spouses, we manage the house ourselves and enjoy spending time at it in the off season and for some parts of the summer.

David Mead-Fox purchased this house in 1975

Why David Mead-Fox chose Southern Coast of Maine

My mother renovated and winterized the house nearly 40 years ago and lived in it year round for many years. While this is a rental property, to us it is our home with many personal memories. We have been renting it for the past 20 years. We have continuously improved and upgraded the house over the years and hope you will enjoy your time in it.

What makes this house unique

This is one of the oldest houses in Ocean Park, having been built shortly after the town was founded in 1881. It less than a minute's walk from the ocean, it is on a quiet street that ends at the Beach, and yet is also a 2 minute walk to the center of town. The house and apartment are fully modernized and in wonderful condition.

Ocean Park (founded 1881) is a family oriented, 'lost in time' community where families (including ours) have come for generations for peaceful vacation time. The Center of town is a 2 minute walk from our home and has a Variety store, two restaurants, a small grocery store, gift shop, antique shop, library, church, shuffleboard, tennis, walking trails, biking trails, and a community center. The seven mile beach and the surrounding marsh and forest land are national treasures. The historic buildings of Ocean Park are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and most listings of the nation's finest beaches include the stunning seven mile beach, where kids of all ages play, swim, surf, and build castles in the sand. The Scarborough Marsh Nature Center (3 miles away) is one of our favorites and includes canoe rentals.

Nearby in Old Orchard Beach is an ocean side amusement park, video game 'heaven', and a 36-hole miniature golf course among many other things to do

A full sized grocery store (Hannaford) is 2 miles away as is Route 1 which has a large number of restaurants, water parks, move theaters, antique stores, and retail shops.

Portland is the largest city in Maine and is just 15 miles to the North. Portland has a wonderful Museum of Fine Arts, craft and retail shops, live theatre, and some of the best restaurants in the United States - our personal favorite is Fore Street Restaurant and is rated a top U.S. restaurant. There is literally something for everything in Portland - our favorite destination on a rainy day that is only 20 minutes away.
