We always wanted to design and build our own home. So finally, once we retired, we did; and this is it! My wife and I have selected every last detail in this home, down to the door handles and hinges. We worked with a local architect and chose the basic package from a log home supplier in North Carolina. We chose a local home builder who specialized in log home construction, and we physically worked on the home's construction as part of the construction crew. We hired all of the specialty trade contractors ourselves and worked with them on the interior finishes.
Richard Piepenbrink purchased this cabin in 2012
We chose this location primarily for the view, and to be near our daughter and son-in-law, and our young grandchildren. It's secluded without being too remote, so you'll have a nice sense of privacy without feeling like your isolated. However, it's still close to shopping, restaurants, hospitals, and other amenities. Conveniently located 45 minutes from Harrisonburg, 1 hour from Charlottesville, and 2 hours from DC.
It's fair to say that no expense was spared in building this home and its many premium features, much to the dismay of our investment advisor. You'll find that it has a unique blend of rustic exterior finishes, complete with dove-tailed log cabin design, 'tin' roof, and premium composite decking and hand rails, to the many high-end interior finishes, like granite-style, ecco-friendly counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and original artwork throughout.
Our stay was short but sweet. We loved every minute in this cabin, to the point we almost called to extend a night! We were here for a wedding which took place literally down the street at Shenandoah Woods Pavillon which made transportation super easy and relax. During the day Saturday before the wedding we had made plans to go out into the town or to Luray but we loved relaxing on the deck with each other so much we didn't leave the house! Thank you for providing us with everything we could possibly need... especially the couple extra soda, wine, and beer upon arrival ;)
I will definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone! Perfect for families, small groups, couples, ext!
The house was exactly as described. Fantastic views, well stocked with everything you could possibly need, plenty of room for our family of 6, and near Shenandoah National Park and Luray. The house was spotless, well maintained, filled with interesting artwork, and felt like home. The owner was incredibly responsive and we would gladly stay there again.
My family just stayed at your wonderful cabin. It is truly beautiful. The cabin is surrounded by trees with a fantastic view of the valley and mountains. The owners graciously provided some beverages to get us started. The kitchen is very clean and has every utensil you could need. The bedrooms are also very clean, nicely decorated and spacious. The fire pit is fantastic and well supplied. The TV and Internet work well. The bathrooms are clean and the showers are hot. The deck is big, has a great view and a nice grill. The living areas are comfortable with nice seating and a modern fireplace. The dining area is big enough to accommodate a large group and was set beautifully. The owners are accessible, the directions accurate and the check in/out process was seamless. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone! Also Luray is close, the park is lovely, the caverns spectacular, and the hiking was fantastic. The only thing... and it is very minor, you need some more board games. We like to turn off the electronics sometimes and just play a game. You had cards and a word game which were fun. Perhaps add an additional board game or two? Ultimately not a big deal just a very minor suggestion.
The cabin is great. You will love it!
This place is perfect! I would love to retire here. My family really enjoyed our quick trip. The pictures are nothing compared of how beautiful this place is.
The property was beautiful as was the view. Perfect for a small family gathering for the holiday. Very close to Luray and other outdoor activities. Owner is very accommodating and accessible if there are any questions about the property.
