About Amy Ray

I grew up in Eastport and have been back for visits every year since I left in 1979. It is a gorgeous island, rich in history and natural beauty and has always had a place in my heat.

My husband and kids, too, fell in love with the place.

Amy Ray purchased this bungalow in 2013

Why Amy Ray chose Downeast and Acadia

Fae House is located in my absolutely favorite neighborhood on the island. Known locally as Bingville, it is a cozy quiet street right on the edge of the island. My connection to the area goes way back. Ninety years ago my father played in the neighborhood and on the beach.

I grew up exploring the bluffs with my best friend in the 1970's.

When I stepped in the door of Fae House, I fell immediately in love with it. We are so pleased to own this tiny bit of Bingville.

What makes this bungalow unique

Fae House has a wonderful and inviting feel to it. It is definitely a crooked little house with tons of character. I love vintage objects and Fae House has been a thrill to decorate in keeping with the personality of the old cottage.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We went to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. The place was nice and cozy and all the attention to making sure we had everything we needed was fantastic. The personal touches such as the note on the chalkboard and the sparklers went a long way to ensure my wife had a great time. All of the information in the house led us to great adventures around the area. The ability to walk to the small beach from the house (really just a few steps away!) was nice and we found quite the collection of sea glass on that beach. Perfect place to stay while in Eastport and the owners were so nice! When we come back to the area, this is a place we would stay again.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend it to anyone! The owners were very polite and courteous and responded promptly to our questions regarding entry. The place was well stocked with dishes etc and the appliances worked well. The scenery and neighbors were very nice and the town people are very friendly. We will come again!! Ps: The IGA grocery store has everything and the town has good restaurants. Also use can get on a US cell phone tower in the IGA parking lot. WIFI is 24 hrs at the library outside after hours. The fishing for Mackerel at the town dock is ALL YOU WANT. It is called Catching and fun!! Bob and Amelia Burger

Stayed 2 nights while on a business trip, cottage is described perfectly and the decor is 50's adorable! Clean, with everything you need for a great stay. The location is in a quiet neighborhood, perfect for a early morning walk and watching the incredible sunrise on the beach just 3 houses away! I will be back with my husband for a stay to visit to lovely Eastport and Down East travels.

PERFECT!

The 'HomeAway' name is so absolutely fitting for this house in Eastport!

We took our 2 kids (14 and 12) for a stay. The house is cozy and inviting. It's not huge, but who travels just to sit inside? Mike and Amy have thought of absolutely everything here. We were greeted with friendly notes, local information, clean linens, and even bottled water and coffee to use! The kitchen is well equipped. The bathroom is very spacious, clean, bright and modern. I honestly can't think of a single thing I needed that was not there. If I had to sum up the house in one word, I think I would use 'comforting'.

In the area there is LOADS to do. North an hour is New Brunswick (check out Minister's island - very cool). An hour South is West Quoddy lighthouse and the most spectacular walk along the cliffs of Maine. In Eastport there are lots of cute shops. Mostly my kids loved fishing in the ocean off the long pier right in town. Right at the end of the street that is home to this cute house, there is a small public beach where we watched the tides flow in and out, and even watched whales passing by while we sat with a glass of wine one evening.

This little house has left us brimming with memories making a person think about life as it is probably supposed to be...

We'll be back.

Sweet Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We were just looking for a simple place to spend a few nights - but, we got so much more! The little cottage is just a half block from the ocean with views of lobster boats, sea birds, and Canada from its windows. We skied from our front door all over the island; ate at a surprisingly good & beautifully appointed restaurant (which we walked to); and spent the evenings playing board games and watching first-rate DVDs. The kitchen was well-equipped and large enough for all four adults to be cooking or hanging out there. This place has the perfect blend of old quirkiness (sloping floor in the pantry) and modern convenience (huge bathroom w new tub, sink, toilet). It was easy to settle in and relax; we will definitely book this one again!
