Photos and Description of this Historic Downtown District holiday house

3 Bedroom, 2 Bath Home In The Heart Of Ashland. Sleeps 9. Absolutely Charming.

This 1907 home has been lovingly remodeled with a gorgeous cherry-wood kitchen, custom granite counters, all new kitchen appliances and amenities. The original fir floors have been restored to add charm and character to this darling home.

The beds are beautiful and feature luxurious high thread-count white sheets and soft comforters. The pillows and mattresses are wonderful and will assure a perfect night's sleep.

Every detail has been thought-out throughout the house. In the morning brew your cup of coffee or tea and relax at the dining room table or on the expansive deck with the lovely mountain views. Or walk down half a block to one of the lovely local coffee shops. Stroll to lunch in town - you're a 1-5 minute walk away from anywhere in downtown Ashland. In the evening, two of Ashland's finest restaurants are literally steps away as are plenty of casual dining options.

The green show and OSF box office are two short, level blocks away.

Park the cars in your private parking spaces (2) and forget about it because you can walk anywhere from this perfectly situated and wonderfully furnished charming home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We three siblings from Chicago, Honolulu, and Washington DC had a great stay here. Perfect place for us - thank you. We enjoyed The Tempest and Richard III most of all, but also enjoyed Water by the Spoonful, Two Gents, and Coconuts.

Be sure to take the backstage tour and all the preface and noon lectures on offer. Quite worthwhile!

Great dinner at Smithfields and two great lunches, Larks and Amuse. Excellent OR pinot noir! (many places)

Houston's Art Gallery/Framing is the best gallery in town and nice to see all the bookstores.

Hooray for Tuesday Growers' Market!

This charming cottage was perfect for our visit to the OSF. We appreciated the proximity to theaters and restaurants. The house was clean and well-renovated. There were plenty of good sized beds and room for us to spread out. We will definitely stay at this location again if it is available.

Perfect location, great house

  • 5 of 5

Charming and updated old house equipped with everything you could want. Nice deck. We comfortably fit 5, as our #6 and 7 couldn't join us. The location is perfect for walking to and from the theaters and downtown- we used the car only once! This would be a very tight fit for more than 7 people. The stairs are a hazard for babies, so use the baby gate.

Location, location, location!

  • 5 of 5

The house is comfortable and accommodated our group of four nicely. (We could have brought others, but we liked having the space.) The kitchen is very well organized and generously appointed. We ate most of our meals around the dining table, but an alternative would have been the table on the back patio. The Thomas theater is no more than five minutes from the house--an easy walk. The other two theaters are a minute or two farther. Restaurants are very close as are the Main Street Shops. We only used the car to drive to the grocery store. One of my favorite things about the house is that there is no television. The landlord's were quick to address the single, small problem we had and were very apologetic that we had a problem at all. In short, our party of two retired couples was very content there, and we plan to return. I would recommend this house to friends unless they had difficulty negotiating stairs.

Clean and charming

  • 5 of 5

A well-renovated older cottage. Clean. It has an attentive, caring owner. By older, I mean charming with hardwood floors and extremely close to town. The lights, A/C, appliances, cabinets, etc. are all modern. We were comfortable in 100 degree weather. Gotta duck to use the upstairs bathroom. The downstairs bed was a bit squishy for my tastes. Overall, a very good experience. I got to spend more time up here some time --- wine country, river rafting, etc!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for staying with us. We are so glad you enjoyed the home. And yes, we absolutely pride ourselves on how clean the house is! We heard several comments about the bed downstairs and have since removed the soft mattress topper that guests were not enjoying. We've had very positive feedback on the bed since the change. Hopefully you'll be back next year and see for yourself that the bed is very comfortable! Warmly, Alla

Clean, well situated, well appointed, well maintained and comfortable.

This was our third year staying at this property. It continues to be a delightful home. The kitchen, living/dining room and patio are welcoming and help creating a warm atmosphere where we can relax and share thoughts and impressions. The grounds are well cared for and, of course, being so close to theaters, restaurants and great stores is a super plus! We are already planning our next year visit.

Overall nice attractive home. Updated kitchen and well equipped though the stove is very small. Bedrooms were very small and downstairs bed was unacceptable. Nice owners and very accommodating.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your kind compliment about our hospitality. Sorry to hear that the bedroom sizes seemed small. We often have parties of 8 or 9 guests and we hear very positive feedback about how comfortable the home is. We also feel that our photos are completely accurate and represent all of the rooms in the home correctly. If any of our prospective guests have questions about the size of the home, we would be happy to answer any questions prior to arrival so that there no one is ever disappointed. Regarding the mattress, we've removed the soft mattress topper that we had on our brand new mattress in the summer of 2016 and now our guest are loving it. We apologize that you were not comfortable. If only the issue had been brought to our attention during your stay, we could have remedied it immediately. There is never any reason for our guests to be uncomfortable!
