About Marcy and Ken

Recently retired and now living permanently in the Black Hills.

Marcy and Ken purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Marcy and Ken chose Black Hills

In 2005 my husband and I were looking for a place in the Black Hills for when we were able to retire that was centrally located to all that the Hills have to offer. We built this cabin and used it for our many vacations to the Black Hills. Being adjacent to the national forest we have enjoyed many beautiful hikes and abundant wildlife just outside our door way. Since we recently completed the building of our permanent home we are now able to share this piece of heaven with others.

What makes this cabin unique

Black Hills National Forest 100' from the cabin. Deer and turkey stop by for a visit.

Guestbook comments from the owner

From our guest book:

The cabin was a bonus on our stay! You guys thought of everything a person needed. Really enjoyed the morning view with coffee. Seeing the wildlife was relaxing. The cabin was cozy, our family was very relaxed when we walked in! The board games were a plus. A very peaceful and enjoyable stay. We will come back again and recommend anyone to stay. The weekend was just not enough time. Thanks you guys

Comfortable, clean, and homey with a great location.

  • 5 of 5

We woke up to turkeys in the yard every morning and deer in the yard each night. The cabin has everything you need for a great stay. Don't let the fact there is no stove or dishwasher keep you from choosing this property. The toaster oven and two burner hot plate worked great. There are many items that are normally not found in a rental including a crock pot, brita water filter, electric fry pan, any many other helpful kitchen bonus items. We immediately felt right at home. The location is close to Custer, but in a quiet country setting. The patio was a comfortable place to relax at the end of a busy day of sight seeing. We would recommend this to a couple or small family. It actually was larger that the pictures made it look. If we return to the area, we would definitely stay here again.

Home way from hom

  • 5 of 5

Perfect accommodations for a couple. Everything as depicted in HomeAway. Great location to tour the Black Hills. Best part - quiet get-away from the crowds of the small towns which are bustling with tourists. For bicyclists, just four miles from one of the best rail-to-trails projects - the Mickelson Trail. Our host was very friendly, too.

Amazing Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do justice, this cabin was so cute and very clean. The beds were soft and comfortable. It's centrally located, we were able to see 2 caves, Mt Rushmore and Custer park. We will try to return and have already shared the link with friends!

Great home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time staying here, and we love this home! Great location that's close to parks and attractions. They have available everything you need and then some for kitchen equipment. We loved sitting on the patio and listen to the wildlife around. Having a handicap accessible shower was an important feature for us. Laundry appliances is a bonus for us as we can do laundry before going home if need/want. This is the only place we will stay and arrange our trip around availability.

Great Location, Lovely Accomodations

  • 5 of 5

My mom and I spent a long weekend in the Black Hills and found this to be an ideal location. Everywhere we wanted to visit was close by (really an hour drive or less would get you anywhere you wanted in the Black Hills). The house had everything we needed to enjoy our time there. The neighborhood was nice and quiet which was perfect for sitting outside enjoying coffee in the morning and unwinding in the evening.

I would live here!

  • 5 of 5

The location of this cabin is perfect; central to virtually every attraction. It's close enough to the town of Custer, yet nicely tucked away in the beautiful woods to find serenity; bonus, there's a lovely lanai to enjoy the scenery and wildlife. And as soon as you step inside you'll realize the owners take great pride in providing guests with everything to have a most wonderful vacation! I promise you won't be disappointed! In fact, we plan to return next year as well as in the future :)
