About Marcy and Ken

Recently retired and now living permanently in the Black Hills.

Marcy and Ken purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Marcy and Ken chose Black Hills

In 2005 my husband and I were looking for a place in the Black Hills for when we were able to retire that was centrally located to all that the Hills have to offer. We built this cabin and used it for our many vacations to the Black Hills. Being adjacent to the national forest we have enjoyed many beautiful hikes and abundant wildlife just outside our door way. Since we recently completed the building of our permanent home we are now able to share this piece of heaven with others.

Guestbook comments from the owner

From our guest book:

The cabin was a bonus on our stay! You guys thought of everything a person needed. Really enjoyed the morning view with coffee. Seeing the wildlife was relaxing. The cabin was cozy, our family was very relaxed when we walked in! The board games were a plus. A very peaceful and enjoyable stay. We will come back again and recommend anyone to stay. The weekend was just not enough time. Thanks you guys

Election Relief

This place is perfect for relaxation. It has everything you need, it's super clean, and it feels sooooo comfortable! Bring along a good book or choose one of the fine videos for night entertainment, but try out star gazing if you really want to be amazed. Get a South Dakota steak at the wonderful grocery n Custer (only 4 miles) and fire up the grill---you will not be disappointed here!

Wonderful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful cabin in a great location that's close to town and state park. Has everything you need throughout the rooms and especially in the kitchen (cheese grater, crockpot). Very clean and well kept with a home-away-from-home feeling. Very nice covered patio to relax on after a long day of sight-seeing.

Owners are friendly and were easy to work with our reservation.

Lovely well equipped cabin

Convenient location to Mount Rushmore & Custer State Park, had everything needed for a comfortable stay and more, such as washer dryer. Night sky had more stars than I'd ever seen! Very comfortable.

We are spoiled for all future travels.....

  • 5 of 5

Having visited the Black Hills a year ago, and being fond of back roads and off-the-beaten-path places, we decided to come back to the area. I am moderately disabled and what attracted us to the cabin proved to be just the tip of the iceberg. EVERYTHING proved to be perfect for us, from easy accessibility (one step in) and location. We did not explore the town of Custer as the re-paving of Rte 16 proved to be quite a major deterrent, but we shopped at Krulls Market in Hill City and found lovely back roads connecting the 2 towns. For that matter, we preferred the back roads and ended up coming all the way back from Wind Cave Nat'l Park and never touched paved road! We realize we are not typical "family" travelers but seriously doubt anyone will find anything to complain about...

Comfortable, clean, and homey with a great location.

  • 5 of 5

We woke up to turkeys in the yard every morning and deer in the yard each night. The cabin has everything you need for a great stay. Don't let the fact there is no stove or dishwasher keep you from choosing this property. The toaster oven and two burner hot plate worked great. There are many items that are normally not found in a rental including a crock pot, brita water filter, electric fry pan, any many other helpful kitchen bonus items. We immediately felt right at home. The location is close to Custer, but in a quiet country setting. The patio was a comfortable place to relax at the end of a busy day of sight seeing. We would recommend this to a couple or small family. It actually was larger that the pictures made it look. If we return to the area, we would definitely stay here again.
