Photos and Description of this Weston holiday house

4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6 Adults plus 1-2 children in the loft

COME TO VERMONT FOR A QUIET WEEKEND, NEARBY SKIING, CONCERTS - AND STAY IN THIS LOVELY QUIET VILLAGE AND WALK TO DINING. BOOK YOUR SKI HOLIDAY - ONLY 20 MIN TO OKEMO, BROMLEY & MAGIC, AND A BIT MORE TO STRATTON AND KILLINGTON

Located on a small hill within the village, overlooking a stream in the front, and a brook and view behind the house, this 1830 cape, completely refurbished, has 4 bedrooms (1 downstairs bedroom with bath and 2 upstairs bedrooms, plus a sleeping loft overlooking the living room), accommodating 6, plus 1-2 children in the sleeping loft which is accessible only through one of the bedrooms. The attached barn is completely finished as a living room, opening onto a very private deck that overlooks a brook and a waterfall in the village, and distant hills beyond. The deck is great for evening meals outdoors in warmer weather, cooked on the small gas grill, or just relaxing and reading a book.

Only a 5-minute walk from the Weston Playhouse (summer theater), the famed Vermont Country Store, an art gallery, and two fine restaurants (The Inn at Weston and Bryant House). Also there are concerts at Kinhaven Music School (summer) and at the Weston Priory (year round). Skiing is 15 minutes to Bromley and Magic Mountain, 20 minutes to Okemo, 25 minutes to Stratton, and 40 minutes to Killington. Cross country skiing (Wild Wings) and horse drawn sleigh rides are 10 minutes away as are Yoga classes. Only 35 minutes to Manchester with outlet shopping, and a bit further to the charming villages of Dorset and Grafton (cross country skiing).

Recently refurbished, with a modern kitchen and two new bathrooms including a large tiled shower with two heads and a tiled bench seat. Plenty of water pressure! High speed internet is on 24x7. There is cable TV and cell service at the house.

There is so much to do from this house without having to drive. In early October there is the Weston Antiques Show, and the following weekend, the Weston Craft Show. In December there is a Christmas Bazaar Nov. 28-29 at the Playhouse and 'Christmas in Weston' on Dec. 6 with sleigh rides that will delight children.

In late June to Early September there is exceptional theater 5 nights a week at the Weston Playhouse, and post-theater entertainment at the Playhouse Cabaret on select evenings. There are concerts at the Church on the Hill 6 times during the summer on Sundays at 4 pm, conveniently located nearby. And there is excellent dining at the Inn at Weston and Bryant House, all within walking distance.

There are fascinating lectures on the first Wednesday of each month, in nearby Manchester and Rutland (35 min), or in funky Brattleboro (45 min) where there are some great restaurants (Korean, Thai, organic and regular fare.

Spend 3 nights, or a month here and decompress in comfort, enjoy skiing or hiking, and a bit of culture!

About Andy and Jean

We live about 1/3 mile away on Trout Club Road in Weston.

Andy and Jean purchased this house in 2007

Why Andy and Jean chose Ludlow / Okemo Mountain Area

My sister and her husband used to own the Inn at Weston at one time so we've spent many years in the village. Weston is one of the prettiest villages in Vermont, with a lovely town green ringed by many historic houses, and the Weston Playhouse, all within walking distance. We like being surrounded by a brook behind the house, a stream across the road, and a river/waterfall that can be seen and heard from the deck.

What makes this house unique

The sound of water . . . and the short walk to the playhouse, the Vermont Country Store, the art gallery, dining at the Bryant house and the Inn at Weston.

There are lovely gardens in front and alongside the house. There is complete privacy on the deck overlooking the brook.

Wonderful Get-Away Spot

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic home away from home. The home was exactly what the description advertised, Every need met, home was cozy and clean and well maintained. It was comfortable and was an all around wonderful experience. The views were quintessential Vermont and was hard to pull ourselves away from the home. The homeowners were so great to work with and made our weekend get-away such a pleasure and very easy. The area surrounding the home made for a relaxing and laid back get-away with nice villages near by for dining and shopping. Cannot wait to book with them again.

A truly charming home

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay here during the fall season. The house is in a perfect spot, it really couldn't be better - close to the Country Store and beautiful drives to many different spots in one of the best areas of Vermont. The house had everything we needed in terms of comfort and amenities. we didn't want to leave.

A Perfect Touch of New England

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had a wonderful time at the Village Home in Weston. The house was charmingly restored and Andy and Jean were helpful with suggestions on what to do in the area. It was a great location for exploring different towns and villages in Vermont. Thanks for sharing your home.

A step back into time

  • 5 of 5

Our stay can only be described as a stroll down memory land for me while writing new memories in the minds of our grandchildren. The house sets atop of a mound that overlooks a brook on either end. The one off the front stream is easily accessible for the children to play in and explore. Its location gives you easy waking access to all of Weston's attractions including the playhouse which is right at the bottom of the hill. (This is a must stop if your there during the summer season) The home itself has all the character and personality of an old farm house that has been whitewashed throughout and is furnished appropriately. The bedrooms are comfortable and offers plenty of space. It has a bath with a small shower downstairs but the upstairs bath/shower/steam room is over the top. I would highly recommend considering stay here. We had 8 in our party and we were all very comfortable, especially our two granddaughters that had their secret room/loft that overlooked the the back great room. We hope that our plans can include renting this place again sometime in the future.

Relax and enjoy your stay...
