About the property

Bach or holiday home, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 10)

Welcome to ?Thyme Cottage?, a step back in time. Quaint and cosy this partially refurbished 1900?s ?Railwayman?s Cottage? full of character is the place to stay. Where the original features have been preserved and the modern touches have been added to give you both convenience and efficiency.

Suitable for a couple of families or a group of friends to enjoy themselves.

With a wetback system on the coalrange and an instant hot water shower, there is always a continuous flow of hot water and being last in the shower no longer means a cold shower. Then after a big day out if all you want to do is sit back and relax you can grab that glass of wine, sit in front of the fire, watch the TV or a DVD or just read a book. For the kids the Video Machine, Playstation, books and board games are just extras to keep everyone happy.

Duvets, blankets and pillows supplied, just bring your own linen and towels. The Drying Room allows you to both dry and store gear so you are all ready to go the next day. With plenty of firewood and coal to help make your stay comfortable, we hope you will find Thyme Cottage your home away from home too.

Located 3 hours from Auckland (Manukau City) and 5 minutes south of Taumarunui, it is an easy drive after work and is the perfect place for that break away. 25 minutes to the bottom of Whakapapa or 40 minutes to Turoa makes the mountains easily accessible. The Central Plateau is a great place of adventure, so come and see for yourself and enjoy.

Special conditions:

Maximum of 10 people.

*** School Holidays and Public Holiday Weekends $15 Surcharge per night ***

A refundable bond will be charged and refunded via internet upon the property being checked on departure.

NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);

It's obviously a long term project.

It's obviously a long term project. It's perfectly liveable, and a really interesting old cottage. Great to see a lot of the old cupboard latches etc still intact.

I thought the Thyme cottage was a wonderful place to stay.

I thought the Thyme cottage was a wonderful place to stay. It' is "rustic", has great character and reminds me the way baches were 30 yrs ago. We loved it. If we are back in Taumaranui we will definitely be staying there again.

It is a quaint little cottage and obviously a work in progress.

It is a quaint little cottage and obviously a work in progress. We did have major problems with the coal range - it smoked very badly - but otherwise all went well.

Funky old place.

Funky old place. I liked it. More fun than a boring hotel room. Club down the road is very handy and visitor friendly. Gas station has a takeaway too. Only 5 minutes from town.
