I thought the Thyme cottage was a wonderful place to stay. It' is "rustic", has great character and reminds me the way baches were 30 yrs ago. We loved it. If we are back in Taumaranui we will definitely be staying there again.
It is a quaint little cottage and obviously a work in progress. We did have major problems with the coal range - it smoked very badly - but otherwise all went well.
Funky old place. I liked it. More fun than a boring hotel room. Club down the road is very handy and visitor friendly. Gas station has a takeaway too. Only 5 minutes from town.
Privacy of the property, the character and quaintness were lovely. Would definitely stay again.
Thyme cottage brought back childhood memories of growing up in a railway cottage in ohakune in the 70s and 80s. The open fire and coalrange gave the place such a cozy homely feel. Slept in the room with walls lined with newspaper and protected by a clear perspex panel. Dated 1905 this made great reading. Had a great time here and i will be back. A place recommended to all!
