|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
We are only about 2 1/2 hours drive from Auckland, which makes us an ideal base to explore Northland all the way to Cape Reinga.
Ngunguru itself is about 25 minutes from Whangarei
The flat - the house is 2-storey; the flat is on the bottom floor - is only a short walk away from the beach - down the drive,along the road, turn a corner, a few minutes and you're there.
Tutukaka Marina is about 3 kms away
The Bay of Islands - Russell, Paihia, Kerikeri - are a little more than an hour's drive away. There are also the Waipoua Forest and Tane Mahuta, the Hokianga Harbour - Opononi , Rawene, Kohukohu etc - Dargaville and the Kaipara Harbour, and an all-day trip to Ahipara, Kaitaia and Cape Reinga
The famous and fascinating Kauri Museum at Matakohe is a marvellous day's outing.
And a trip out to the Poor Knights Islands should be on everyone's list!
Tutukaka Coast bays and their typically Northland sandy beaches are also close by. Warning! - kids tend to become beach-bound!
Ngunguru itself is ideal for family beach outings along the estuary. There is also an interesting tour to be taken of the historic Ngunguru River itself
Kayaks can be hired locally for exploring the Ngunguru estuary and river and the Tutukaka harbour.
And while please no smoking inside , by all means have a fag outside - we were once smokers ourselves and can (dimly) remember what it's like.
WiFi internet available.
One request - please take it easy on water-use. Ngunguru homeowners depend on rainwater supplies, and sometimes we have no rain, or at best, only occasional passing showers, for several weeks at a time - even those few with waterbores find their bores sometimes dry up. But hey! it's not as dry as Australia!
One last thing - we are sometimes asked if the kids can camp on the lawn; unfortunately it's too small - if only we had a paddock instead!
Another last thing - Linen - most bring their own but we can supply for $5 per bed per night.
As already mentioned, in summer please take it easy on the water!
Extras: Linen (Optional, NZ$5.00 per night); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave;
Very enjoyable stay. Fantastic location. House had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again. Very nice Owner. Many Thanks from the Swiss-Family.
This property was everything we needed. Very neat and tidy with full kitchen and living area. It was close to lots of interesting things to visit. We would happily return to continue to explore the area as there is so much to see. The owners were lovely and very helpful when required. We look forward to future visits.
Fantastic flat, fantastic hosts, fantastic holiday. We will certainly be back.
For anyone who has yet to experience the Tutukaka Coast, its a slice of heaven! The flat was in easy recah of the inlet and amenities, very tidy. Highly recommended.
