Kereru Cottage close to Kaka Cottage has great views over Pah Beach towards the wharf, a 5 -10 min walk to Tryphena's great amenities of Pah Beach and Gooseberry Flat for safe family swimming, the well stocked Stonewall supermarket, the post office and gift shop, Wild Rose Cafe and the Currach Irish Pub .
It is a comfortable, low key timber house great for relaxing with a good book , playing board games with the kids or even snoozing in the sun !!
It relies on 12 volt solar power for the lighting and gas for water heating ,oven and fridge.
Kereru Cottage is named after the native pidgeon frequently seen in the vacinity.
Aptly named after the native wood pidgeon(the Kereru) that is frequently seen in the bush close by.
Extras: Linen (included); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave;
Great spot tucked away in the bush. Just a short walk to harbour beaches & shops or a short drive to surf. Great little house, very comfortable, with every thing we needed.
We have been to Great Barrier many times and Kereru cottage was the best place we stayed in: It was very clean, spacious (bigger than I thought), comfortable beds with nice bedding, nice shower that stays warm, the kitchen was fully equipped, the fridge worked well etc.
The view is absolutely breath taking, I found myself just relax and wind down, sitting on the deck looking over the Bay listening to Tui.
We would love to come back to the cottage next time we go to Great Barrier!
