Are you looking to relax in a modern and comfortable space?Tired of the cobwebs and dated decor you've found in most weekly rentals? Spend your Cape Cod vacation in our fully renovated and absolutely beautiful Cape Cod home. Enjoy easy access to all that the National Seashore has to offer with walking paths, freshwater ponds, Salt Pond, and the famous Coast Guard Beach practically at your doorstep. Explore the Cape Cod Rail Trail on bike, blade, or foot - conveniently just around the corner. Take a long walk below the dunes of Nauset Light before a quiet dinner at a selection of nearby restaurants; local seafood, piping hot pizza, classic American, and authentic South African are all within a two minute's drive. Venture south to Orleans for some live music or north to Wellfleet for harbor-side oysters. Our home is located on a private road in a quiet residential neighborhood but is just a short hop to everything: art, beaches, excellent dining, shopping, and adventures. Pop in the water to surf or kayak, watch the seals, or head out on a paddle board - the outer Cape is yours to explore, with the outdoor shower waiting for you when it's time to rinse off!

Looking for a quiet retreat? Curl up on the couch with a book, pop open a bottle of wine, or relax on the deck or in a hammock (we have three!) When the cool evening sea breeze rolls in, gather around the fire pit and lean back to watch for falling stars. Situated on just under an acre, we have fenced-in nearly half of the property and are a dog-friendly rental (please contact for details). Bringing the kids? The property abuts the local elementary school playground with nearby access to a freshwater pond and is near mini-golf courses and the Wellfleet Drive-in.

With two bedrooms on the first floor connected by a full-bath, the upstairs en-suite Master is private and comfortable. The first floor features an open-layout with tall ceilings, two bedrooms (the Cherry and Surf rooms), both a full and half bath, easy access to the outdoor shower, and beautiful views of the yard on all sides. Upstairs is our Master Suite with tons of space, an en-suite bathroom with huge tile shower, and peeks of the pond to the south. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, full refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and double sink. Enjoy a DVD in the evening or access your Hulu or Netflix accounts on the 39'' Smart TV, or watch the major networks on our basic cable plan. No need to worry about staying connected: we have wireless internet free of charge.

Looking to beat the summer heat? Enjoy the central AC and shady yard. Visiting in the off-season? Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Is your house on a busy road?

A: No! In fact, we are located on a dirt/gravel road and very little traffic passes by.

2. Where is the best parking for Rail Trail Access?

A: Our driveway! It is less than 1/2 mile to the Rail Trail from the house, and you will not need to cross a major road for access. (The trail crossing is Old Orchard Road, next to Arnold's Restaurant.)

3. Can we swim in the pond nearby?

A: Absolutely! The pond is, in fact, two connected ponds: Minister and Schoolhouse ponds. There is a convenient access within a short walk (either on the road or through the woods, but beware of poison ivy!) The ponds are also a lovely place for a short paddle, canoe, or kayak.

4. We love to cook; is your kitchen fully stocked?

A: We have provided everything you will need to prepare meals, from basic hotdogs on the grill to a five-course gourmet meal, you'll have what you need! Plenty of pots and pans, knives, utensils, and serving ware are provided. We've stocked the house as a home (because that is what it is!) We have also provided travel hot/cold mugs, a beach cooler, pitchers for lemonade or sangria, and much more! A blender, electric mixer, and bread machine are all available for your use.

5. Will the fence keep my dog in?

A: Of course every dog is different, but our fence is dog tested, dog approved by our yellow lab and husky/pointer mix (not to mention countless furry friends). The fence is split-rail style with vinyl-covered metal garden fence stapled up to 3.5 feet high on all sides. Only you know your dog's habits and abilities, so please use your best judgment if you have a ''jumper'' or an escape artist!

6. What size are the beds?

A. We have 2 twins (singles), 1 full (double), and 1 Queen. We also have a twin air mattress and a queen air mattress if needed.

7. We don't want to bring sheets and towels - what are our options?

A. We recommend renting from Cape Cod Linen Rental for all of your linen and beach equipment needs: http://www.cclinenrental.com/

8. What do you have at the house for my kids?

A. We're parents too! Our little Finny Rose is happy to share her toys, books, and pack n' play and more! We have baby and toddler toys, books for all ages, puzzles, a few outdoor toys, DVDs, a Graco Pack n' Play, and a "hook on" highchair seat. The stairs are gated at the top and bottom, and you'll find plastic bowls and cups, as well as some toddler utensils, in the kitchen cabinets.

9. And how about for my dogs?

A. We have several dog bowls at the house, as well as leashes and pick-up bags in case you forget yours. You'll find dog treats in a glass case on the kitchen island shelves and a tennis ball or two in the yard.

10. Does the rental include a beach pass?

A. While we are not able to offer a "transferable" beach pass for each rental, the Eastham Sticker office is just down the street and a pass does save you money. Please refer to the town's office directly for more information: http://www.eastham-ma.gov/Public_Documents/EasthamMA_Recreation/Sticker2016.pdf

About Jackie O'Rourke

Jackie is a "native" Cape Codder, born and raised in Orleans, where her parents still live. Devon is a "wash-a-shore" from Ontario who quickly fell in love with the Outer Cape.

Though Eastham will be our "forever" home someday, Jackie is currently an administrator at a small private school in New Hampshire and Devon is working towards his Ph.D. in Biology at UNH.

In 2015 we welcomed a daughter in to the family, Finnoula Rose, and you'll see her influence in the house (plenty of toys and books to share).

We built our home for us, but decided to rent it out while we live off Cape so that we can share our beautiful property with other families and our love for the Cape with visitors from near and far. We love to help others enjoy our home and the Cape, so please feel free to reach out with questions as you plan your vacation.

Jackie O'Rourke purchased this house in 2011

Why Jackie O'Rourke chose Cape Cod

Enjoy the quiet and privacy of a dirt road in the small town of Eastham. We are easy to get to and just a short drive from all of the Cape's attractions. Come home from a busy day to a quiet yard and plenty of space. If you love the Rail Trail, enjoy riding out of the driveway and just under 1/2 mile to the trail - no need to pack up and park elsewhere. Beat the traffic to Provincetown - you're already half way there!

What makes this house unique

You will breath a little easier as you take in the morning breeze on the deck to the tune of the birds and plan your day of sun and fun. Hate the long salty drive back from the beach? We're just minutes away from Coast Guard and Nauset Light, so leave the soggy wait in traffic to someone else. Enjoy the conveniences of home - this rental is far from sparse and exceptionally comfortable.

Top notch house with everything you might need for a wonderful vacation!

  • 5 of 5

The house is absolutely beautifully renovated (practically rebuilt), open layout for family to hangout together, kitchen equipped with everything you might think of and personal touches throughout the house. Big yard and close to everything. We felt like we were staying at a welcoming friends’ house and not a rental property! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Awesome home away from home ... another great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here for the past 4 years and love the house, the lovely and large dog-friendly yard, the library of great books to enjoy and the proximity to so many great things to do. The new dining table and built in seating makes for an even more charming place to gather for lobster dinners. The owners give great care to your stay. Our family feels like it is home during our week long stays -- we wish it could be longer!

Cape Perfection

  • 5 of 5

This was our third year staying at 65 Knowles St, and we loved it more than ever, partly because we got to experience it through the eyes of our 11-month-old lab puppy, who adored playing in the fenced-in yard and swimming in Minster Pond, only a 5-minute walk away. But the house is perfection for humans, too, ideally laid out and equipped for both couples and families. It's a short walk or drive to all the favorite Cape activities, yet once you return home you are cocooned in wooded quiet, with everything you need to relax. Jackie and Devon are also perfect hosts, always prompt to respond to your questions and help with any practical issues. We can't wait for next year.

Perfect Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here for a month in 2017 and the place was perfect. The O’Rourke family found a way to to do a complete renovation of the property without sacrificing any of the old Cape Cod feel and charm.

The main living space is open and bright. Standing in the kitchen you can have eyes on the big backyard, visit with people sitting at the large island countertop, and still be part of what’s going on in the living room. Add to that the built-in banquette for eating or playing games, it really couldn’t have been a better vacation space.

When renovating, the owners did the little things right. For instance, the A/C works really well. The Wi-Fi is fast. The A/V system has blue tooth so you can play music from your own phone. It’s a smart TV, so it works w/Netflix and Hulu. The main entrance has tons of built in storage with hooks and baskets to contain the vacation clutter so it doesn’t take over the house. The bathrooms are spacious and clean, with tile and auxiliary hand-held shower heads. The banquette is perfect for playing games, or getting a little bit of privacy without feeling apart from the group. The outdoor shower is helpful after a day at the beach. The fenced-in backyard is spacious enough to play soccer and cookout at the fire pit all at the same time. Plus, they allow pets.

The location is perfect—tucked away in a quiet neighborhood on the ocean side of highway 6. This means you can easily get to beaches like Coast Guard or Nauset Light without having to deal with traffic on the highway. At the same time, the house sits just off Schoolhouse Road, so if you want to go to the bayside there’s a stoplight to help navigate crossing the 6 so you’re maybe seven minutes from First Encounter Beach and an incredible sunset. This seems like a small thing, but can save so much time and frustration on busy days. From the back gate you are a block away from the elementary school playground, and a quarter mile walk to the Salt Pond Visitor’s Center and miles of paved or unpaved walking/biking trails.

Jackie is easy-going, responsive, and a pleasure to work with… seriously cannot recommend this home highly enough.

We are centrally located to al of Easthams' amenities: North Eastham has options for eating out every meal of the day, coffee, baked goods, specialty restaurants, upscale and casual - Eastham has it all! The National Seashore has walking and biking paths as well as the ever-popular Coast Guard and Nauset Light Beaches, as well as the delightful visitor center just around the corner from our house. Eastham also has several freshwater beaches when you need a break from the salty sea, and local conservation areas for peaceful walks in the woods.

Outside of Eastham you can find several "big" stores in Orleans: Stop and Shop, TJMaxx, CVS, Shaw's Market, Staples, and others to meet all of your needs. Looking to shop local? Our favorites in Orleans are The Pumphouse Surf Shop, Kemp Pottery, The Red Balloon Toy Shop, The Hot Chocolate Sparrow, Orleans Villa Pizza, Main Street Books, If the Shoe Fits, and so many other great shops on Main Street! We highly recommend the shopping areas of Wellfleet (Main St., Commercial St., and Bank St., plus the harbor) and Provincetown (Commercial Street) as day or half-day adventures. At each location you’ll find stores for clothing, jewelry, pet toys, kid toys, and big-kid toys, not to mention Art galleries, coffee shops, and bookshops - mostly locally owned and deeply appreciative of your business. You can also stroll by the harbors and watch fishermen bring in the day’s catch, or take a walk up the Provincetown Monument (on a clear day and with good eyes, you can see the bay-side coast all the way to the canal bridges). There are museums big and small in several towns, and wonderful playhouses (with children’s shows in the early afternoons) in Orleans (The Academy Playhouse) and Wellfleet (W.H.A.T. Theater). Whale watching is particularly great in July and August as the Humpback Whales feed in our waters, or you can head to Chatham for a Monomoy Charter to see the massive seal colonies that have been making headlines in recent years. Other ideas? Rent bikes and head out on the Rail Trail Bike Path (remember, no need to find parking - you’re less than a mile away already! Take a left out of the driveway, a left onto Alston, a left onto Meetinghouse, and a left onto Old Orchard. Just before you hit the highway, you’ll intersect the path. Going right will take you north (less than 1 mile to Dunkin Donuts and Ben & Jerry’s, 6 more to the end of the trail in Wellfleet) and yet another left will lead you near lake and bay beaches, then to the heart of Orleans before meandering all the way to Dennis.) You might also take a windmill or lighthouse tour, hit the Wellfleet Flea Market, stroll at a local artisan fair (held frequently at the Eastham Windmill green, and at Nauset Middle School in Orleans). And of course some summer favorites to consider: catch a baseball game in Orleans (the famous Cod Cod Summer League) to see college standouts and MBL hopefuls, or try your hand on the many mini-golf courses ranging from a quick game (Arnold’s is just around the corner) to a bigger course (Cape Escape, at the rotary in Orleans). Eastham is a quiet town that is close to it all, so why not book today?
