About Bob & Erica

We enjoyed the Raystown area for many years which is why we purchased a property near the Lake. We also enjoy the home since it is located directly on the river which we can fish, canoe, kayak and tube right in our backyard.

Bob & Erica purchased this house in 2013

Great Property!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Victorian on the River! It was well equipped with just about everything anyone would need. It was our home base for a week and we enjoyed the entire area around it. The restaurants were fantastic. As well as the Proud Mary Showboat cruise.

An adorable home, both inside and out!

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time staying at your cute as a button home! A great place with small town appeal , and wonderfully appointed with countless extras as well! Loved the radio in the dining room , and the cute four poster in the master bedroom! Loved the wraparound porch with the ferns, and the gazebo sitting area. We did go to the lake , but my husband preferred to set up shop on the bank of the river in the back yard for the best fishing! He caught fish after fish every day, some small, but others quite large! We catch and release, so it's all fun! There's even a little store down the road that sells milk and incidentals like live bait! I could barely pry him away for a day in Bedford, but we did enjoy cruising the shops. Very friendly people in the area as well! Would recommend this home to any one wanting to slow down for a few days, and just enjoy the beautiful countryside.

We were very very happy with the home. Everything was nice and clean and well organized. The setting was beautiful, we enjoyed the fire ring along the river and seeing the stars at night. The owners were so very easy to work with and very accommodating. We enjoyed the home's proximity to the rails and trails, a beautiful walk along the Juniata River. I would recommend this home to others. It was a very relaxing and fun getaway.

I don't feel the previous reviews were completely truthful, but this one will be. This is a very old home that is charming and quirky, and located in a well-kept small community. It was for the most part very clean. The river access is perfect for fishing and kayaking, and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. However, this is not a peaceful setting, as Erica F reviewed, because of the proximity of the road and the heavy traffic of large trucks (both logging and dump) and loud mufflers on cars and motorcycles day and night. I noticed the bridge in the photos so I wasn't surprised at the closeness of the road, but the extreme noise surprised us.

The house description states "air conditioning". When the window units are installed, I assume there will be air conditioning in the 3 upstairs bedrooms. There is no AC on the main level, and when doors and windows are open it's often difficult to have a conversation because of the road noise.

I sincerely hope the owners purchase new mattresses and bedding. We found all to be considerably poor quality resulting in poor sleep and a very sore back.

Yes the water pressure in the second floor shower is very low but that's to be expected from well water. It was adequate and not a negative for us. The owners provided a lengthy list of restaurants and activities in a welcoming email, and that was very useful. I feel The owners want to be good hosts but there are some changes I hope they make to improve the quality for their guests.

Good house for group

  • 5 of 5

The house was really easy to find and the hosts were very easy to communicate with leading up to the trip. There is plenty of space to sleep four couples, there were plenty of clean towels and areas to hang out. We especially enjoyed the fire pit down by the water. If you forget anything, there's a Walmart about 20 minutes away. Not having cell phone service was actually kind of nice because we got to unplug and just enjoy the weekend. Thank you Erica!

Wonderful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

This home is by far the most wonderful vacation home. There is such a "vibe" here! It's peaceful, quiet, and beautiful! My children loved their time here and even enjoyed being away from technology! They both commented on how awesome it is to be together as a family. We felt as if we had gone back in time to an era with no stress - only solitude and nature. Being with loved ones, eating good food, having long talks and laughing and reminiscing - this is what a vacation is all about! Thank you so much!
