Beautiful 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath, fully furnished Victorian home for rent situated on the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River. Fishing, canoeing, kayaking and tubing right from the backyard. Within walking distance to Yellow Creek which is a stocked trout stream, Rails-to-Trails and the State Game Lands. It is located ONLY 15 minutes from Weaver's Boat Launch on Raystown Lake, 15 minutes to Lake Raystown Resort, 20 miles from Bedford Springs Resort, approximately 30 miles from Blue Knob Ski Resort and within an hour to Penn State University.
We enjoyed the Raystown area for many years which is why we purchased a property near the Lake. We also enjoy the home since it is located directly on the river which we can fish, canoe, kayak and tube right in our backyard.
Bob & Erica purchased this house in 2013
The house was really easy to find and the hosts were very easy to communicate with leading up to the trip. There is plenty of space to sleep four couples, there were plenty of clean towels and areas to hang out. We especially enjoyed the fire pit down by the water. If you forget anything, there's a Walmart about 20 minutes away. Not having cell phone service was actually kind of nice because we got to unplug and just enjoy the weekend. Thank you Erica!
This home is by far the most wonderful vacation home. There is such a "vibe" here! It's peaceful, quiet, and beautiful! My children loved their time here and even enjoyed being away from technology! They both commented on how awesome it is to be together as a family. We felt as if we had gone back in time to an era with no stress - only solitude and nature. Being with loved ones, eating good food, having long talks and laughing and reminiscing - this is what a vacation is all about! Thank you so much!
Thank you Erica for opening up your beautiful house to us for our blended family vacation. It had everything needed to live in plus some of my favorite extras. The covered wrap around porch came in handy a few days whether it was raining or too hot in the sun, it was just great to sit on. The fire pit, the river(the view & the sound) and the nearby rail trail(peacefulness & wildlife) was also awesome. My girlfriend ran the trail every morning and felt very safe. One day she even ran with a spotted baby fawn. We visited the lake a few days & rented a boat one day. I really enjoyed No Internet & No phone signal until I needed it to plan out activities. So anyone reading this, pre-plan & make reservations before hand. If not there are some places close by along the road where you can get signal. Overall this place was great and the neighbors were very friendly. I would recommend this rental house to anyone looking for place near Raystown and somewhat off the grid for a peaceful vacation. Thanks again.
Had a pleasant stay in Hopewell visiting family during the holidays! This was a great place to stay, comfortable, clean, and met all our needs. Owners were great to work with as we had to adjust our initial reservation date slightly. Everything is exactly as stated in owner's description of property.
My daughter and I enjoyed the uniqueness of the house. The setting is beautiful with the river view. We expected it would be even prettier in the fall. The railroad walking trail was wonderful and walked daily but better used bug spray in the summer. It has typical plumbing you would find in an older place with poor
water pressure upstairs and we preferred using bottled water. Otherwise we enjoyed the house and our visit.
We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the house and loved that it had all the comforts of home. The mattress in the master bedroom is amazing; more comfortable than my bed at home. Loved the wrap around porch and the kids loved being on the river and the fire pit. Very close to all the activities we enjoy at Lake Raystown.
