A Note About The Neighborhood
Asheville is a small city filled with folks who think in all directions, like to have fun, appreciate art and craftsmanship, and don't mind hard work. These things are evident in the eclectic nature and variety of businesses, shoppes, and menus one will find in every corner of the city. You could take a class on mushroom cultivation, permaculture, yoga, tai chi, print art, or brewing. Or join a tour! There is guided mountain biking, guided art strolls, historical tours, comedy tours, haunted tours, haunted comedy tours, pedal powered trolley brew tours, and running or cycling- brew tours. It is Beer City USA after all!
Contact us for more info on any of the above!
My family moved into town a couple years back to improve our daughter's option for school and we have found so much cool stuff around us! From tailgate markets to award winning breweries, sake and hard cider houses, this area is a gourmet's delight!
Joe Allawos purchased this apartment in 2011

We enjoyed a long weekend at the Hideaway. The apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed, including a growler from the nearest brewery, great coffee and cream, and several personal suggestions for nearby food and beverage. The apartment is about 3 miles from downtown Asheville, which was fine for our needs. It's in a quiet neighborhood and has a nice hot tub. We met the owner, Joe, who was very friendly and offered assistance with anything we needed. It wasn't "luxurious" but was an excellent value. I'd stay here again!
The proximity to west downtown was great! Owner gave a list of recommendations for local places to enjoy based on your intetests and those recommendations were spot on! This was the perfect, cozy apartment for our weeknd getaway. Highly recommend and hope to visit again!
This apartment is close to everything that you need if you want to spend time in the city or along hiking/biking trails. It's clean and has A lot. Joe is available anytime you need him and knows a lot about the area. We had a great time!!
My friend and I took a two week girls trip from Texas to visit parts of the southeast and our first stop was Asheville. Solace in the City was perfect for our needs. A cute, quaint basement apartment in West Asheville. It was quite and private. Everything we needed was there and more. Coffee was great. Everything clean upon arrival. The host were always in touch and were accommodating. Within walking distance of several great restaurants. We really enjoyed out time there. We loved Asheville. Would definately stay there again.
The hideaway was everything we had hoped for and more. We were extremely comfortable during our stay in Ashevillle. Joe made sure that anything we needed was made readily available at the hideaway. West Asheville is filled with terrific spots to eat and drink. And the majority of these spots are an easy walk from the hideaway. We would highly recommend this spot to have an authentic Asheville experience!
This place was a great location, close to everything. It was awesome to just pull right up to the door to unload/load. The place was very spacious and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and that is important! It was very clean too. We did use the hot tub and were so pleased that it too was so clean!
As a bonus Joe was really good at making suggestions of things to do and that personal help was much appreciated, I felt like I had a personal travel assistant. He also had plenty of brochures and list in the apartment to read. He never made me feel like I was a pain when I asked for suggestions and so easy to work with. Our family did sightseeing south of town and also visited Biltmore (awesome place)!
We had a special treat one evening when we returned to hear beautiful guitar music and harmony's coming from his porch. He was practicing with his band/trio. We secretly sat below to listen... so nice! This made our experience even more memorable!
I would recommend Joe's place without hesitation and if we ever return to Asheville we will certainly return. So much value for such a reasonable price!
