"We stayed here to celebrate our 20th Anniversary and a birthday. It was amazing! It is very private and we loved the sauna. The house is nearly new and everything is in great condition. The view from the deck is stunning. We enjoyed many meals out on the deck enjoying the view. I especially appreciated the Sonos music system and the fireplace. During our stay we only left twice. Once to the go the beach and a second time to go to the "River's End" for a romantic sunset dinner. The rest of the time we thoroughly enjoyed the home. It's quite a way up in the hills on a graded dirt road, which was a nice scenic drive in our SUV. We even saw a bobcat on the road. Both the master and 2nd bedrooms were large with king beds. Both very nice and quiet. I highly recommend it for a romantic getaway where you want to be away from it all. "
The property was very nice and a great view. It was a wet weekend so we rented a 4 wheel drive just to make sure we were good to get to property per one of the reviews we had read with the steep drive.
The only thing we couldn't figure out was the outside lights on the west deck and the outside lights on the sauna I didn't mess with bulbs to see if burned out
This property was better than the pictures. It was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well equipped. The house had great comfortable furniture. The large deck was a great place to enjoy a glass of wine. We would recommend this VRBO to everyone. We would stay here again.
The house is a long ways from anything but once you get there, it's beautifully appointed. We had a great time!
This home was fabulous. All the amenities. Perfect layout. Breathtaking views. We absolutely loved it and hated to leave the peaceful and serene setting. We drove to Napa Valley and Sonoma wineries and had no trouble with travel. Napa is a bit farther. Loved Guernville. Highly recommend the beauty of Northwood Golf Club and massages at the Applewood Inn. Hot tub was a bonus. Had perfect cell phone reception and fun settling in and watching movies at night. Be prepared as the road up to the house is very steep and difficult. Thankfully we had a 4 wheel drive vehicle which made it easier. The only disappointment I had is the grounds around the house were not well kept not the flower beds. Didn't look at all like photos. Overgrown and a bit messy. However, there was high probability of fire and they've had a drought here so understand not being green. Just everything in beds was overgrown on walkways and paths. Otherwise, a great California experience. Graham, owners assistant, was amazing and so helpful.
We're a family from Michigan. Casa Cielo is a beautiful, clean, peaceful and convenient home. We watched stunning sunset that could not be described by words on the deck, our bed room and hot tub. Each evening, we see something different with or without fog but all beautiful. The kitchen is well equipped with upscale appliances, and we enjoyed our family dinner in the open dinning room.
Casa Cielo is on Muniz Ranch by CA1. The drive here from the airport and to nearby cities are breathtakingly beautiful. There are many beaches around, and Armstrong woods is only about 30 minutes away, where we took a stroll in the park. There are many other activities nearby we could explore. Our girls enjoyed Chandler ranch's beach riding where is about 20 minutes drive from the home.
The owner and his manager were very thoughtful. They emailed instruction of our stay and three pages of information about what we could do around the home. There's a detailed map and a book of hiking routes for the areas in the house. Those were helpful to get familiar with the surroundings. Our family vacation at Casa Cielo was a very happy experience. We'd come back again.
This is a really well-architected beautiful retreat of a home. It's well-situated near Jenner so you'll have places to go to eat, drink out, and enjoy the beaches, meanwhile should you decide to stay in, you won't be disappointed by a long shot.
The real gem of your stay should be using the main building as an entertaining space for your group. Cook up something using the advanced fixtures or outdoor grill and entertain in the large floor plan or deck with sweeping views of the gully and ocean in the distance as your backdrop (before the fog rolls in). It really is the experience you're paying for, and would be wasted if you plan on only using the lodging as a place to sleep.
+ REAL sauna! And a room to dry off and shower RIGHT next to the hot tub. Should almost be a necessity as no one enjoys finishing their relaxing hot tub session with a freezing run up one's stairs into one's house.
+ BEAUTIFUL interior and exterior options like deck with grill, makes for a very special group entertaining space.
+ Accommodating and attentive owners/operators: aside from whatever previous experiences in the review list that experienced otherwise, we actually had a great experience asking for additional accommodations and receiving fast responses with any issues (internet went down for instance but was a systematic issue with the neighborhood and not the unit).
- A bit of a drive on the ol' unpaved road (2.5mi) to the house, so not AS close to the ocean or other restaurants as you might think, but hey it sure does get you to a secluded look-out! (Not a real bad negative)
- I would recommend the owner increase the theoretical max occupancy of the main building, as they could EASILY charge slightly more and allow a responsible group of adults to place a few air mattresses on the ground and allow for 8 total in the main building (I'd argue 10 total with the addition of the guest house at that point), as the size of the interior truly begs for entertaining for a larger group. Also if additional mess is the concern, the cleaning fee could be adjusted, but there is already an ample insurance policy/deposit policy.
Great time :-)
