Photos and Description of this Buck Hill Falls holiday cottage

5 bedroom, 5 1/2 bath - Sleeps 10

One of the first Buck Hill Falls cottages, this stone and wood beauty has been updated & modernized over time. Three stone fireplaces and other built-ins anchor the cottage's historic feel. The large screened porch has stone arches framing the mountain views which can be seen from the front entry. A new, modernized kitchen was completed in the Spring of 2014. Third floor game room has wet bar, pool table, large screen TV and beamed cathedral ceiling. This home is within walking distance of Buck Hill Falls resort amenities which include a 27 hole golf course, 10 HarTru tennis courts, an Olympic sized swimming pool, lawn bowling and 4500 acres of hiking trails & fishing streams.

We were 8 mature adults having a reunion of friends. The home was impeccably clean and very well stocked. The views magnificent. The beds extremely comfortable with lovely linens and towels. I would highly recommend this lovely home for reunions, families, friends, etc.

Thanksgiving stay with multiple families

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic Thanksgiving with 3 families (6 adults, 4 young children). This house is simultaneously roomy and cozy. The bedrooms were all a great size. The beds were comfy and the towels were fluffy. Most importantly for Thanksgiving, the kitchen was well equipped and a great size for cooking a large meal. The dining room had plenty of room for our 10 and could certainly have fit more. The yard was on the smaller side, but the kids were able to throw the football around and didn't mind a bit. We were also lucky enough to have mild weather and were able to go for walks in the neighborhood (lots of great houses to peak at) as well as hike in the woods and to the falls. I would highly recommend this house for a family getaway.

Charming and Spacious Home

  • 5 of 5

Be prepared to be amazed! The description and pictures did not do the house justice! This is not your typical barren, sterile Pocono rental that we were used to; the house had its own charm which made it feel as if you were returning to your own home away from home! Everyone in the group felt that it was perfect, very clean and homey, with a library and games. There was enough room for the four couples to spread out and yet enjoy each others' company. We were quite impressed with the amenities inside the home- plenty of linens bedding and equipped with some staples (mayo, coffee, paper goods). The beautiful kitchen allowed 4 women ample space in which to prepare meals and not be on top of one another while the living room allowed the 4 men to watch the football game comfortably in front of a roaring fire. We were surprised that, despite bringing our own wood, there was wood there to use. The upstairs game room was fantastic but I don't think there was a DVD player there, not that we needed it, we watched movies in front of the downstairs fireplace. The sound system in the game room was also great. The weekend we chose was a bit chilly to use the enclosed porch but we loved the view out there. There was a bit of confusion with the thermostats since it seemed as though the old ones were left on the walls. However, we found the upgraded thermostats and everything was fine. When we were looking for a rental, we came across many that had limited seating in the dining room but 4 bedrooms and 4 baths. The dining room in this house would have held at least 10 people to go with the 5 bedrooms and bathrooms. The owner was extremely accommodating and since no one rented before us or after us, allowed us to enter early and leave later. We have already recommended the house to others who want to "escape" with their friends and we would gladly rent this house again.

Owner's Response: Dear Terry - Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. I'm so glad you all enjoyed your stay. I've taken note of your subtle suggestions. It's really helpful to hear what others think and experience. Will look into a DVD player for the 3rd floor. That should be an easy fix. And maybe we can remove or at least label the obsolete thermostat in the 2nd floor hall. The HVAC in the house is complex to say the least! Thank you for sharing your experiences and recommending us to others. I hope you and Paul will come back to Buck Hill and stay with us again sometime soon! Wishing you both a very happy holiday season. Melanie and Matt

Spacious and well appointed.

  • 5 of 5

Melanie and Matt were gracious hosts when we were at their home filming interviews with Veterans telling their stories of the battles they fought in. The home is spacious and well appointed. The neighborhood has many amenities and the surrounding scenery is very restful. The security people were very helpful and courteous. If you are looking for a place that truly reflects what the Poconos are all about this is the place to come. Thank you again, Melanie and Matt. Linda T.

Wonderful Stay at Buck Hills Fall

The house was all we expected plus more, the new modern kitchen was a pleasure to cook in. We had plenty of room for our extended family of 8 to be comfortable. Loved the Golf Club the food was amazing and service was beyond excellent.

Large Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This house was HUGE. Plenty of room for our family to both gather and spread out. It was impeccably clean as well. Everything was as it was presented and the owners were very helpful with the few questions we had. We would definitely stay here again. The walk to the falls was perfect! We got a bit of exercise but it wasn't a tough hike and the view was amazing. There was also a very an old resort near the property we found fascinating. The house had some turn of the century charm with updates to make it modern and comfortable. The back porch was such an oasis.
