Comfortable, quaint, and cute are words often used to describe this tropical A-frame located on the Mississippi Sound. A wrap around deck shaded by palm trees leads down to the water and the 36' fishing pier. Fish or crab from the pier, or boardwalk, soak up rays on the deck, or watch the tug and barge traffic pass by on the Inter-Coastal Waterway. 10 minute walk to the beach. WiFi provided.

Queen bed in the downstairs master, 2 full beds in one bedroom and a daybed with a 'pop-up' trundle in the other upstairs bedroom sleep 8 people comfortably. Sofa sleeper in the living area.

Full bath downstairs across from the Master Bedroom with double vanity. Full size washer and dryer in the bathroom area.

The fully stocked kitchen is complete with everything you need to prepare a full course meal for your family and is open to the living area with views of the pier and Mississippi Sound. The breakfast bar will seat 2 or 3 and allow you to supervise the kitchen action. The Living and Dining area with 25' vaulted ceilings, has great water views, a flat screen TV with Dish Network service, comfortable leather furniture, and a tasteful Nautical Decor.

Head upstairs via a Heart Pine staircase with a brushed aluminum stair rail to 2 bedrooms and a full bath.

'Captains Quarters' was purchased as my primary residence in 2001 and was not rented out until recently. I settled on Dauphin Island because it is the most 'laid back', relaxing place I have ever found. The fishing is fantastic, the beaches are beautiful, and the Sunsets are phenomenal!

What makes this chalet unique

Sunsets, sunsets, sunsets!!! Fishing and crabbing off the 36' pier. Swimming or shelling a 10 minute walk on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. Scooter or jet ski rentals minutes away. Bike trails, best birding in the Southeast, Audubon Park, historic Fort Gains, Dauphin Island Sea Lab and Estuarium. The best offshore Red Snapper and sports fishing in the Gulf and inshore speckled trout, white trout, flounder, crabbing and red fishing on the private pier. Mobile Bay Ferry available for day trips to Fort Morgan or Gulf Shores. The casinos of Biloxi are 1 hour away and New Orleans a short 2.5 hours away.

Best View Ever!!

We stayed here over July 4th and had the best time. This was our second trip to the island and we are already planning next years trip. The house was spotless and had everything we needed for our week stay. Loni was great to communicate with and answered any questions I had. The view here is AMAZING!! Our boys enjoyed fishing off the pier and I enjoyed early morning quiet time outside listening to the waves. This house will be one we rent again!!

What a wonderful home!

The pictures do not do it justice! When we walked inside we were amazed by the charm of the place and the beautiful views of the bay. And then to step outside onto the decks and the! And it has all the basic necessities for a nice vacation. It is such a sweet comfortable home and we had a great time.

Fun fall getaway

Beautiful place on the bayside of DI! It's was perfect for our family of 5. The upstairs kid area was cozy and comfortable. The master bedroom was roomy and inviting. We cooked 3 nights in the well equipped kitchen. Fishing off the pier provided much fun entertainment! DI is our favorite getaway and we look forward to coming back!

Great Place to Stay

We really enjoyed our stay here. The kitchen is well appointed to be able to cook/make everything you could want. The beds are comfortable and good for a nights sleep. The neighborhood is quiet and off the beaten path. Best of all, the dock and view of the water off the back is really fantastic. If you find some time Islander's restaurant had good food and Pelican Pub was a great place to grab some drinks. Awesome island!

This appears to be a charming house but was quickly disenchanted. Roaches, mold and leaks.

My family and I were so excited to be staying in this quaint A frame. Unfortunately our stay was negatively impacted by the condition of the house. There is mold in most of the air vents and also on the ceilings of the 2nd floor. More disturbing are the roaches. I spent a lot of my time cleaning the kitchen and all bowls, dishes, glasses etc. When I contacted the manager about the issue she replied that she will advise her cleaning ladies. The icing on the cake was a thunderstorm came through and the front door leaked profusely. I had to move furniture and used a gumbo pot and towels to try to contain the water. I sent video to the manager with no response. I will NOT being staying here again. I truly wanted to enjoy this cute house but there were too many issues that haven't been addressed. I am very disappointed in this location and the service I received.

Owner's Response: Christina, As I have discussed with you several times, I am very sorry for the condition you found the Captains Quarters in. We have never had roach issues in the past 9 years of renting and after consulting with my exterminator have surmised that the roaches were driven inside by the 3' of water under the house during Hurricane Nate the week before your stay. The house was cleaned on the 9th of October, and the guest who were to stay that week canceled due to the Hurricane. As I said before I think I have the best cleaning crew on the Island and would be very surprised if they had overlooked something like that. The water stains and mold / mildew in the ceiling was caused by wind driven rain blown into an attic vent above that area during the Hurricane. This moisture coupled with the power being out for several days after the Hurricane facilitated the damage. I have yet to determine how the water is getting into the wall at the waterside french door which was replaced at the beginning of summer. I appreciate your efforts in containing the water and am sorry for the inconvenience. As I have stated to you on several occasions I take my rentals seriously and am very conscientious about cleanliness and providing a nice place for our guest. I hold my cleaning and maintenance crew to a high standard as evidenced by the 50 plus 4 and 5 Star reviews. Again I apologize for the condition you found the Captains Quarters in and want you to know that all these issues have been addressed. I was surprised that in in your review you said you were disappointed in the service you received and wonder still what I could have done at the time to remedy the issues to your satisfaction. Fort Gaines (Civil War Fort) on the East End holds tours daily and reenactments several times a year. Protected the entrance to Mobile Bay with sister Fort , Fort Morgan on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay.

Ferry ride to Fort Morgan , Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, or outlet shopping in Foley, AL.

1.5 hour ride to Casinos in Biloxi and 2.5 hours to New Orleans.
